Review summary

Vessi Footwear receives a mixed response from consumers, with many expressing disappointment over product quality and customer service. While some reviewers praise the shoes for being comfortable and genuinely waterproof, others report significant issues, such as receiving damaged or incorrect orders and experiencing long shipping delays. Complaints about sizing inconsistencies and hidden fees, like restocking charges, are prevalent, leading to frustration among customers. Although a few individuals commend the responsive customer service, many feel that the overall experience does not justify the price point. The inconsistency in waterproof performance also raises concerns, as several pairs fail to keep feet dry after minimal use.

Finally, waterproof footwear!

I had been interested in Vessi footwear for a while as they are advertised as being waterproof. I finally decided to purchase a pair when Vessi opened a physical store in Mississauga, Ont. where I could actually try on a pair for fit and comfort. I bought the Everyday Classic and as we were due to go on a holiday within two months, I tried them out at the gym track to wear them in. Well, I took them to Spain and used them every single day for one month. We did an incredible amount of walking daily. Experienced two or three good rainstorms and walked extensively in them. My feet and (regular) socks were bone dry. I did not bother with the sandals I took along as it was too cold! The shoes are very comfortable and fit me perfectly with good support. They breathe well and my feet did not feel sweaty or hot even after walking in them all day. I wanted a pair that was waterproof and light, particularly for travelling. They are attractive enough that I felt comfortable using them for evening wear. I have only tried the one style but they have lived up to the features advertised. If there is a negative (for me) it's that there is a very snug opening in which to slide your feet into. I had a lot of difficulty for a while and had to use a shoehorn. With use, I find that opening has stretched somewhat and I don't have as much trouble ( I still have to use a shoehorn!). I am very happy with my Vessi Everyday Classic and in time will likely buy another, different styled pair.

If waterproof was a person, they'd be named Vessi

I've bought 2 pairs of sneakers and just recently a jacket from Vessi and I couldn't be happier. My wife and I wear our Vessi sneakers in the rain and never has our feet been wet. The new Coach jacket is very cool. It's light and waterproof, but it has a liner which is nice. It also fits really well and looks sharp for work or play. I haven't had the chance to take it out in the rain yet, but judging from the sneakers, when Vessi says waterproof, they mean it.

Men’s Alta high top

Men’s Alta high top. I purchased a pair of these about two months ago because I have been looking for years for rain shoes. And unfortunately I had to settle for a pair of vans because that’s all I could find that were waterproof, besides boots. I found That the Alta high top were so awesome. They are now my winter fishing boat shoes. And actually my slushy rainy day shoes. I absolutely love them! Thank you, Vessi.

Vessi - what they don't tell you

I purchased for Christmas a womens soho, and weekend sneaker (both white) and two Alta's in the limited color green. I picked up a men's weekender to give it a try. Good shoes and when they are new yeah they do exactly what the pretty pictures and videos do. Water beads off and you walk around dry and comfy. Once you get them dirty and try to clean them, we'll that's a bit of a different story. They tell you baking soda and vinegar and a sponge or clean cloth. This is what they don't tell you: as soon as you touch that cloth surface of the shoe to remove the stain you remove a coating that allows the water to bead off. Just a wipe and it's gone. Now don't fret, the shoe maintains its waterproof ability BUT the cloth now absorbs the water and doesn't bead off. It's still waterproof but the surface now stops beading and water stays onto the weaved cloth. With the soho shoe, 90% is the pleather/vegan leather material and that is a breeze to clean. You can use the vinegar and baking soda on the vegan leather or pretty much anything else but the cloth needs the baking soda and vinegar. I also have an issue with how difficult it is to take out a stain and not make the white homeless grey smear everywhere on the nice white shoe. On the comfort: it is a spongy comfort. I feel it decent for walking but unless you have the storm burst or a higher sock the ankle friction might be harsh. They have removable insoles, seem to hold up to walking but for me the men's weekender has zero ankle support so if you have weak or ankles that need support, it's not a good investment. The women's soho and weekend sneaker have a robust heel area so ankle support is better. Also I feel my foot gets a bit hot in the shoe so in colder weather it's a bit of a positive. In the summer I might have to wash out the shoe more often to prevent foot odor or the excessive use of products to minimize odor. But the more you wash, the more of that coating washes off and you get a shoe that absorbs water in the weave. The next time you get a stain, it's a bit harder to get the stain clean and you end up scrubbing and that weakens the weave. Last thought. I know there are a lot of reviews on vessi but their website only shows 5 stars and I wrote a review noting the staining and it never was posted nor has this subject ever been mentioned in their entire review section, but as i talk to vessi owners they seem to have the same staing/dirt smear issue. Just something to keep in mind.

Great but ......

I bought the Womens Cityscape Classic and they wear great in short bursts. I bought these for walking dogs,, walking on campus, and for just general rainy days. I cannot wear these on rigorous walks because they kill my feet. I can wear them in short bursts or to work where I won't be walking very much. I changed the laces to a stretchy lace because the tie ones that came with the shoes cut into the top of my foot. The shoes are truly waterproof and I love how they look. I just wish they had more support.

No communication

I ordered Vessi shoes on February 2nd with expedited shipping because I need new shoes. They emailed me asking for me ID and I gave it to them. They said it would move forward and I was like okay whatever. Yesterday, February 11th, I got an email saying my order was cancelled and I need to wait an additional 5-7 business days to receive my money back. I’ve never been so frustrated

Vessi.com

Vessi.com - thank you for your reply. I accept fully your statement however having read all of the Trust Pilot reviews on your company I can see that fake websites trading in your name have been reported before. I went on the legitimate website before ordering the shoes on the fake website. I would respectfully suggest that your website prominently displays the countries to which you deliver and not to use any retailers as they are fake. Otherwise more people will be scammed and your company will unfortunately be compromised and innocently complicit.

My experience with Vessi gloves

I have not tried Vessi's footwear but here's my experience with the gloves. I've had them for about 2 months and use them anywhere from 0 degrees to negative 15 degrees Celsius. These gloves keep my hands warm up to negative 5 Celsius at best, definitely not if it's any colder. They're also advertised to be phone friendly, but I honestly wouldn't bother texting with these gloves on, they do okay if you're talking about big swiping motions but precise key presses aren't happening. Overall, I feel like these gloves are okay, the build quality is there, but I'm not sure they do any of the advertised things that well, other than being waterproof. I'd skip these next time around, or buy it on sale.

Disappointing experience

Two weeks after placing my order, I still hadn't received it nor gotten a confirmation e-mail, so I contacted Vessi customer service. No reply, but a couple of days later my order finally arrived. I was away for a few days and when I returned I opened the package to find that one of the boots had a dark stain on it and that the order itself had come with no proof of purchase. I again contacted customer service and got no reply, except a "follow up" message to see if I was satisfied with the "assistance" I'd received from Vessi customer service. Seriously?! Bottom line: I'm stuck with a stained $130 pair of brand new boots. Not impressed.

This is not a shoe for serious walkers.

The shoes use a fabric that is breathable, which is good but it stretches out quickly. It starts out being very difficult to put on if you are wearing socks. But within a month, they slide on easily as they start to stretch. The biggest issue is with walking. You cannot walk up hills without the shoe sliding at the heel. The fabric stretches and does not keep your foot in place. As someone who is out walking her dog four times a day, the fabric stretched out within a month. And walking up and down hills became harder and harder as the shoe starts slipping on the heel. Pros: Shoe is waterproof Shoe is lightweight Cons: Shoe is difficult to get on initially Shoe fabric is not sturdy enough Shoe slides around when walking up and down hills Shoe does not last. The shoe sole is thin so you feel every rock you are on. One month after purchase and the shoes are loose, slide around and don't last. If you want a shoe to wear out to lunch or maybe to the mall then this is your shoe. But this is most definitely not a walking shoe. I also noticed that on the Vessi site, you can only post a review if they let you. When they emailed me and asked if I loved the shoe and I responded with no, I was not allowed to write my review on their site. So the Vessi support team get back to me and tell me I should buy a different pair of their shoes that costs double what I paid for my shoes. They don't offer a refund on the first pair and they don't even offer a discount to entice me to pay more money to test out another pair of their shoes. If you are buying Vessi shoes, you should definitely wear them inside a few times and walk up and down stairs so you can decide if you want to keep them. The second you walk outside, you cannot return them.

Vessi is great, but watch out for fake websites

I'm writing this in english. Vessi does NOT have webshops / stores in the countries that are NOT listed on there official website. go to vessi dot com website and look at the countries languages option. I have also been scammed and I got my money back because my credit card provider has a money guarantee service so long as you can provide proof. Which in this case is not that hard. vessiinederland.com vessibelglum.com (note the lowercase l instead of an i. And probably more are scam websites. Please report these websites as fraudulant. You can do this via google. With an extension called suspicious-site-reporter for googlechrome Or just go to a page where you can send it manually if you don't want to install chrome and or an extension. You can find it if you google "Report a Suspected Web Forgery" Vessi is it in your power to do something about this? maybe send a take down notice? Because this is fraud and or tarnishes the good name of vessi.

Slip and Fall Boots

"Designed to take on slippery, slushy, chilly winter conditions in stride." Today was a true test to these boots and the failed. I bought them specifically for the, "designed to take on slippery" portion as that seems to be an issue with most boots so I had hope. Unfortunately, the moment my feet hit the ground where ice was hidden by the snow, my foot went out from under me like I was wearing skate. Then the right foot also went out and all my weight went down on the leg, ankle and knee, which also just happens to the be the one I fractured last year. So back to a joyful limp for X amount of days. I've had better boots that kept me from slipping that were $100 less in price. At least they look nice and so far my feet seem to stay dry and warm in -10C + temperatures but not worth the $200 price tag.

*UPDATE* 7 minute survey to contact them

Tried to order shoes using my wife's referral code but got an message on site saying i was trying to self referr. Thats fine. Technical issue. I'm sure customer service can help me out. Nope. Tried online chat and the bot wasbt able to help me. Tried the 'contact us' link from the site and got prompted to fill in a survey THAT WAS ESTIMATED TO TAKE 7 MINUTES TO COMPLETE!!???? No thanks. It shouldnt be this difficult to buy shoes online. UPDATE**** I tried using the link on another device and it worked! Fantastic news for me, right? Nope. Turns out the referral code only works on regularly priced product. I had sale products in my cart. I put in the code and was about to check out when i noticed the total was unexpectedly high. Upon closer examination, i saw the sale prices were reverted to the regular price so the total was higher with the code than the sale prices. Not a good customer experience at all.

Just incompetent and bad customer…

Just incompetent and bad customer service. Ordered 3 items and since it was expensive it qualified for free shipping. I was then advised 2/3 items shipped via FedEx and nothing about the third. When the FedEx order arrived it was just the two. Online my order said complete and I had no other emails about it. When I spoke with customer service I was told it had shipped from a different warehouse via a slower service through Canada Post. So my order was split between two carriers. But half had a lesser shipping standard (still in the mail taking 3 weeks to arrive vs 3 days) When I asked why I hadn’t received an email about the Canada post shipment. No notice the order was split. No updates. I was told they are sorry but it’s out of their control. When I asked how it’s beyond their control when they choose who they ship with and create the labels and hand off to the couriers and control their email updates they got snarky and went on about courier delivery standards. Which of course that’s beyond their control but the rep specifically replied to a question about notices and courier choice saying they have no control over that aspect of their business. Got upset when he was called out on it backtracking. They also chose to break the order into two and ship half with the lowest possible snail mail method without even telling the client. Anyways just a warning. I still like their products but they literally admitted to being incompetent once they have customers money.

Terrible quality control

Was hesitant to buy these since it's a relatively new brand and I was afraid of quality issues. I was right. I bought the Everyday Move Slip-Ons and they came with a plethora of defects. Discoloration, glue marks, knitting issues. I was not impressed. I'd rather put my money towards a better brand

Disappointing experience

My experience with Vessi so far has been horrible, to say the least. I placed my order on November 26. First, my order would not get processed unless I sent a copy of my driver’s license, which I did, even though I am a returning customer and I’ve never heard any company do that. Now a week and a half since placing the order, I still did not get any confirmation of my order shipment and have not received my package. This is not how the company should be treating their customers. My family has been buying their products for years. You cannot even call them when you have issues with your order. Everything is via email only.

I just recently bought my second pair…

I just recently bought my second pair of Vessi shoes and found that the colour of the actual shoe was quite different from the expected colour as seen online. I looked at the website on different monitors and mobile devices and they all look much lighter with a cooler tone online than the actual shoe. When I reached out to support, they asked for photos of the shoes to check with their product team. The product team responded saying that what is seen in the photos is the expected colour. That is all. I feel like it's kind of false advertising to display the shoe in a different lighting for the online photos. It's disappointing that they didn't even try or offer to try to amend the situation.
