I travel a lot and for my last trip of 6 months I changed to TID. I made about 3 claims, all with no trouble. Lots of clear, friendly and helpful communication. Am just about to leave for another 3 months and am sticking with TID. Highly recommend.
Very easy to understand and buy online. Submitting a claim is the usual fill-out-a-PDF thing with lots of supporting documents, and I had to re-send a few docs that they lost, but they were responsive and helpful all the way through. Good coverage on the claim. They covered what they stated up front, and didn't try to weasel out of anything. For an insurance company, that's saying something.
Unfortunately I had to make a claim after my last trip. TID were very helpful and quick in processing the claim.
During our recent holiday in Europe, 3 out of 4 in the family got sick and we had to claim on our TID travel insurance. The staff could not have been more helpful and they also stayed in touch to see how the children were recovering. The claims process was quite straight forward and handled quickly without any issues at all I would definitely recommend and use TID again.

Most people on this review site haven't actually claimed! I have twice and it was smooth. All the content on the TID site is world-class, it's funny, direct and clear. It goes without saying that you need to READ your insurance contract. If you need to claim you'll need to do certain things quickly (police report for example). Don't blame TID if you don't understand insurance. Will use them for all trips now.
I found myself in a position where I had to cancel a prebooked trip (airfares and accomodation) a few days before we were scheduled to leave. I contacted TDI and explained my situation to them. They informed me of the paperwork that I needed, which I forwarded to them at my convenience. Within a couple of weeks, they responded to me and shortly thereafter, I recieved the full amount I had paid (minus my prearranged excess) into my nominated bank account. I was very impressed with their professionalism and will use them in future for all my holiday insurance. I give them five stars.
Very helpful and got a full claim back - were accessible on emergency line and helped me to get my full claim back even when I had minimal documentation
Honestly had the best experience with TID. After things at work went pear shaped and I was no longer able to take my leave my boss had approved for my trip to Thailand I thought I had just thrown all my hard earned cash down the drain but TID turned the whole situation around for me. They were helpful, supportive and understanding during the whole claim process keeping me informed of all progress as it happened and always meeting their promised deadlines. TID, you have my future business (although hopefully I will never have to claim again!)
Most impressed that it was easy and of no trouble to Travel Insurance Direct. I was not expecting to such good service as normally it takes so long with most claims so I was pleasantly surprised
It take a bit longer than I originally thought (and also more paper work to proof), but once it is all received then the claim is approved with a day.
I had a bad ski accident and needed surgery overseas. Everything was covered and I found TID extremely easy to deal with. I could not be happier with how they treated my claim and I will continue to use them for all my travel insurances. All staff were extremely helpful and made my process very positive.

anyone can be good and helpful when taking your money, its when things go wrong that you really see what a company is like. 11pm I ran the help line as the whole family was sick, they advised me on the nearest hospital which had English speaking people and asked if I was able to make the journey myself. 11.15 they rang back to make sure I was fine and see if I was going to hospital. gave me the phone numbers and other contact details of the hospital. 11.30 rang again to make sure we could find it on the GPS, which we couldn't so they found other streets and nearby info so we could get there. next day they rang back to see how we were going and to advise me how to make a claim. when I got back and put in my claim i filled out the online form as best as i could. the only issue was that i couldn't edit the form with the info i found later. from then it took them 4 days before i got the positive response. They paid back the AUD cost on my bank statement not some random price based on the EURO. could not be more pleased.

Had a claim settled satisfactory. When I had some difficulty with Online system, staff helped out with smile & courtsey. Not a normal situation where one gets a good service without hick ups.
I lodged a claim for only $600, that was only for cancellation of the ticket.As my father passed away, so the flight was cancelled.I have used TID numerous times(10+) and I was one their best client as I never claimed anything before, when I placed a claim, the grief they put you through is somewhat similar to losing someone closer to you.The death certificate is just not enough for them. This is just an extract of their requirements. 1)"Clinical Notes , GP Consultation Notes, Hospital Admission/ Discharge Summary, Pathology Reports, Medical Reports, Specialist Letters, Referral letters and any Medical Reports to support your claim. 2) If any of your pre-booked travel arrangements were paid using a credit card, please provide a copy of the credit card statement showing the transaction for this travel (please ensure the first 4 and last 4 digits of the credit card appear on the statement provided(Even though I have submitted the receipt from Emirates for the fares, under my name.) And if none of the above is not provided then the claim will not be paid out. For a mere $500(less $100 excess) to hell with the insurance company.And all this is required after 10 days of lodging the claim. #THIS IS REPLY FOR THE REPLY FROM TID! Ash,I have spoken to TID numerous times since after, but they are playing smart,asking for information that I dont have access to,and I have tried it.They also know that under privacy act,certain things that can only be obtained by my late father.I will try my best to inform everybody to be aware of this company,and please pay bit more and buy from a decent company, who dont try declining your claim by using thew loopholes.And please try to feel sorry for me regarding my late father,and dont worry about the claim anymore,and if you need to improve service,please dont have such rude staffs in the claims department,unless you guys hire nice staffs in selling the policy and use others in dealing with customers on claims.
Taking out the insurance was easy and unfortunately we needed to claim. When we did the process was easy and the company's website easy to follow. I would definitely recommend TID, I would definitely use it again.
