BUYER BEWARE! THEY TAKE 2 WEEKS EACH STEP OF YOUR CLAIM AND THEN MAKE IT AS HARD AS POSSIBLE SO PEOPLE GIVE UP. we got travel insurance (.co.nz) for a trip to Fiji. As it was a .co.nz site and we live in NZ we thought we were sweet. Then in Fiji our two iPhone6's got water damaged. Being insured we thought we were sweet, but oh no we were far from ok. That was on the 15th of January 2016, 3 months ago! We called and made our claim... Travel Insurance Direct advised we had to get a report to ensure the two phones were damaged cause they didn't have an office in NZ. Uh, 'you don't have an office in NZ?' was our initial response. Nope, they only have an office in Sydney. Bear in mind, these phones are salt water damaged. Now to get the 'Proof of Damage' reports (for each phone) it was going to cost $380 - plus the excess. I pleaded with them that this was ludicrous and by putting a .co.nz and not actually being in the country was no better than fraud. In the end they agreed that I could send them the phones - TO SYDNEY.. We were told the claim would take two weeks just to LOOK at it. TWO WEEKS? Other insurers have a 48 hour response time. Why two weeks? Cause they want you to give up on the claim. This is for a phone, they know you need one (i do for my job), so I nearly gave up at this point. But decided I wanted to see how badly they would attempt to not pay us. We shipped the phones 7 weeks ago. We've called numerous times and your case manager is "unavailable at this time". Over and over again. THEN, my partner has $960 put in her account two days ago. WHAT FOR? we still don't know. So they are saying two iPhone6's (one only 2 months old) are worth $960? DO NOT USE THEM. THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED AND TRULY THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER RECEIVED.
Travel Insurance Direct were kind, understanding and helpful when I thought I might need emergency assistance in the US, and courteous in correspondence when I made a standard claim once back home. My claim was settled promptly and smoothly. Filling out the claim form and getting my doctor to certify it was time-consuming when I felt the information provided already by email was sufficient for a decision. However, I guess the company needs to filter for fraud and to collect information for actuarial purposes. I definitely recommend them on the basis of my experience.
I've used TID on 3 successive long backpacking trips, and each time they have been perfect. From good prices on all types of cover, to dealing with them for a fair few claims - I cannot fault them.
Have purchased about 8 travel policies now from global holidays to domestic car hire cover, very straight forward. Last trip I needed to claim for illness and lost personal items and TID were helpful, responsive and fair. Couldn't ask for more, will keep using TID.
Had problems with my insurance certificate. Used the online chat to resolve this and spoke to NR3 (Nicole); she was extremely friendly and managed to send my insurance certificate. Very happy with the customer services.

My partner and I unfortunately have had to make 3 travel insurance claims in the past 3 years with TID. They handled each in a very professional and quick way with excellent outcomes on each occasion. We couldn't be happier with their service and cost of insuring.
I've made 2 claims with TID both in regards to emergencies relating to ill parents. The information they requested is not unreasonable in my circumstances although the request for information from a foreign party (where the incidents occurred) was stressful due to language, bureaucracy and general inefficiency. In hindsight of course we should have requested the information at the time of the incident but in an emergency who thinks of such things? However TID worked with the information we did manage to acquire, used a commonsense approach and processed/completed our claim very promptly.
My experience with Travel Insurance Direct over the years has been excellent. They have probably the cheapest and the best travel insurance schemes.
We found the cover to be very comprehensive and competitively priced and the service both pre and post travel and claim was excellent.
Great price and cover. Easy to communicate with and very prompt settlement of our claim. Will use TID always for all my travel insurance. They are fabulous!!!
We have used TID now for two of our trips, one a major five week and the other a three day getaway. Luckily we have never had any claims. I found the on-line process very quick and easy, in particular the last trip whereby I inquired about and had the cover that evening. TID premiums are very reasonable for us. I will use TID again.

Best insurance I have ever experienced and I have travelled around the world. Would recommend very highly for speed and ease for making claims. Definitely will take out insurance again with this great service!!
I personally would not encourage anyone to take a Travel Policy out. I had an injury on holiday, I have now provided all paperwork 5 times to them and are still waiting . They don't answer all emails even if you send one every day. I feel very disappointed by the whole treatment I am receiving. So please rethink before you take a policy out with them. January 29th time 8.10 pm Ash, 2days ago you said I was priority and would be contacted Again your Company dose not help or contact the client . I will not go away and your company service is the worst I have every come across. So as said before PLEASE think before you take a policy out. THEY WILL NOT HELP or, CONTACT YOU AND WILL LEAVE YOU FINANCIAL out of pocket. PLEASE Don't put your self through what they are doing to me. Julie
I had to make 2 claims on my trip, about delayed baggage and an early flight back for family reasons. TID was excellent in being able to support me while overseas and always timely in responding to my requests. The claims process was quite lengthy and required documentation I wasn't aware I needed to keep. However they processed my claims quickly and fairly. I have recommended this travel insurance company to my family and friends.
I was stuck in Bali due to the ash cloud. I received an email from TID assuring me that I was covered. We remained at the same hotel and kept all our receipts. TID refunded me fully. The claim process was efficient and easy. I recommend TID to everyone I met.
From buying insurance to having to make a claim the whole process was very easy.
I recently made a claim and it was just a matter for collecting necessary documents of which I already had on my computer and submit them to a claim form. I was also required to get a quote of which I paid for but that was minimal. I was kept up to date throughout each stage of the claim. My claim was the first I have ever made and it was really a simple process and monies directly paid into my nominated account.
