I emailed Travel Guard twice but received no response.
I called the listed phone number, sat on hold for a long time, gave my claims #, my travel dates, my first/last name multiple times - then was told the person who answered couldn't help cancel the check / send a new one. The claims adjuster will call back - maybe.
This all feels like stalling.
I forgot to buy travel insurance from the cruise line when I booked my cruise so I went to this website and bought theirs. Well I ended up getting sick 2 days before the cruise and had to cancel. I filed a claim with them and within 10 days I had my reimbursement check. I will definitely use them again!
I wasn't able to use the same ticket to come back. It means that I buy a new ticket because your company cancelled my trip. I will not buy this kind of cheapest ticket
We bought Travel Guard insurance for our trip to South Africa. Our luggage was delayed by 24 hours and that should be covered by the bought policy. Since we did not buy essentials (we arrived late with no stores nearby and had an early tour in am) they denied any compensation.
Horrible : Bought car damage insurance for a recent trip to Italy . Had a minor accident ( dent in bumper ) Rental car company charged me $660 . Submitted claim to Travel guard AIG; refused to pay . Continued to ask for non-existent documents ( police report , Itemized repair bill ) Got the run around for a month . Finally got tired and sued in small claims court . Payed as soon as they got summons and complaint

Purchased insurance in September of 2020 for a cruise in June 2021. Royal Caribbean has cancelled all sailings until further notice. Because it in UNKNOWN on when I will be able to take my cruise I contacted Travel Guard to cancel and refund my premium. Travel Guard refuses to refund any money. After reading several reviews I can see that this company is a scam.They are scamming people every where. Stay away!
The worst travel insurance company out there. This company is a downright disgrace. They should be shut down. My flight was cancelled for me due to COVID reasons, at no fault of my own, and these scammers didn't want to refund my travel policy. They're scamming people right and left at no fault of their own! They won't refund you, they won't transfer the policy, they will offer 0 solutions to help you!!! AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE! SCAMMERS AND LOW LIFES!
When the pandemic cancelled our Viking River cruise, we were not concerned as we had spent $600 for TravelGuard trip insurance. I contacted TravelGuard and was told we could use the policy when out trip was rescheduled. Now a year later I am told they will not honor our rebooking and will not issue a refund because it is past the original date of departure. So they tell you one thing, take your money and provide no service. In any other situation this is theft. Never trust them. I would give zero stars if I could.
If you are thinking of buying insurance for your travel plans really consider it before you use AIG Travel Guard. VERY LONG (7 month and counting) story short, they are the most unresponsive and careless company I have ever dealt with. Below is a shortened version, because you'd need a whole bottle of wine for the long version, of how our experience with them has been so far.
Yes, COVID is slowing everyone down, but COVID has had nothing to do with the service we are receiving. After 5 months of fighting for our refund, they sent to refund check to the wrong address. To an address that doesn't even exist. It was a hybrid address of where we live now (Japan) and where we were living when we bought the plan (Florida.) After calling and confirming the correct address multiple times, they sent it to the wrong one AGAIN. That's twice it was sent to the wrong address. We then called and requested a wire transfer instead since they couldn't manage to get the address correct. Many things weren't done that were supposed to be done on the company's end to get this wire transfer going, and we are still waiting for a wire transfer a month after requesting it. We call almost every day to make sure things are done correctly, and even then simple tasks such as putting in a check cancellation request are not done until the 4th or 5th phone call asking for it.
You are not allowed speak to an actual agent or to someone who knows what is going on, even through email. You can only speak to a customer service phone agent who knows nothing about the process and has no power over the process. We have done everything we can think of to talk to someone who can do something from posting on their Facebook page to handwriting a letter and mailing it and come up empty handed each time. We reported them to the Better Business Bureau 3 weeks ago and they still haven't responded to their efforts to talk to someone either.
I purchased 2 international flights in Feb 2020, and because of COVID I also purchased AIG Travel Guard, thinking that I would be covered if things got worse. Well, the borders to Germany closed to US citizens and I was unable to travel in August because of this. Not to mention I saved up for a year for my fiance and I to travel abroad. Do you think AIG covered this? Nope! I have gotten the run-around for months now from AIG and every time I call they say that the claim will be expedited to a specialist and I should expect a call in 3-5 days, which never happens! I am wondering what exactly this "travel insurance" covers! Waste of money, unkept promises, never ever purchase this worthless insurance!!!
Our school was to have their graduation grade 8 trip back in May. Due to unfortunate circumstances of covid, the trip was cancelled. The travel company sent the refund request to Travel Guard for our refunds. Since early June, it has been "in processing". Our school administrators have been following up frequently and still no answer when we are to get refunded. So now, administration has asked us parents to start going after the company as well. Is this company that heartless of taking money from thirteen year olds????
RUN FAR FROM THIS INSURANCE.
I purchased travel insurance through them through Expedia. I had to change a flight and there was an adjustment in cost. Filed a claim which is 100% covered by the policy. Even after saying the claim was approved and will be settled, 4 months have passed and still not received payment of $314. When you contact customer support "they tell you it's in processing" and can't provide an ETA. It's 2020 and a wire transfer is taking longer than "Philippides" in ancient Greek times delivering a message. That's because they have no intention on paying and keep you going in circles. Even the email they provide to submit claims doesn't work, a dubious way they get you to waste time. If you read this, believe me, I'm saving you a headache, migraine and stress, DO NOT USE TRAVELGUARD (AIG) IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE.
Travel Guard is horrible and a waste of money. My flights were canceled due to COVID-19, but Travel Guard will not provide a refund / credit? Feels very sleazy to me.......
