Unacceptable Billing Errors by Tomato Energy

I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

I used to be with octopus but their…

I used to be with octopus but their tariffs were getting more expensive so I thought I would give Tomato Energy a go, apart from a little hiccup with switching over I have found them to be brilliant. VJ rang me up from Tomato asking if I was happy with the service and any questions I would like to ask which were answered professionally and made me feel comfortable that I made the right decision to switch, so here’s to many more years of great service

Billing are a nightmare.

Whilst the energy pricing is superb, customer services and billing leaves much to be desired. Having set up a DD, this was not taken on specified date- 11/4 Called and told they were having some issues, and it would be taken 1 week later 17/4. This never happened either, so not wishing to be cut off, i paid this manually on 17/4 Sent Customer services and billing my bank confirmation of payment. Then yesterday 28/4 payment taken again by DD. /This clearly shows no one had processed the manual payment of 17/4. frankly if they can't take payments correctly and on time their cash flow will suffer and they will inevitably wind up like so many other smaller suppliers, going broke.

Zero customer service - does not work

Joined Tomato Energy in August 2024 - 9 months later, still not receiving bills or usage information. They did not take a direct debit for 3 months until I emailed them - no rely, but they started taking money. MyWatts not working, so I cannot see my usage or know how much I'll pay. Cost per month was around £40 in October - tbis ballooned to £200 in December and January - this is expected, but with no billing it is difficult to plan. Emailed them beginning of December requesting bill, no response. Emailed again end of January - got a response in March saying bills can be accessed from MyWatts (it still doesn't work). Overall, terrible company. With cheap unit rates much lower than everyone else, you expect poor customer service - but you expect to still receives bills and basic communication. I've simply given up trying - when my deal ends in July, I will move. I just hope they are charging me for what I've actually used - and not just taking money. No way of knowing as they don't respond.

6 weeks in to my tariff and still no 30…

6 weeks in to my tariff and still no 30 minute meter readings or Bills . I've emailed CS To give 2 final weeks to rectify this before taking my complaint to the Energy ombudsman. Its clear to see why the company has been told they cant take on new customers .

Tomato offers the cheapest rates and…

Tomato offers the cheapest rates and standard charges I could find. These include really favourable off peak rates for EV drivers like myself. The app could do with a bit of work, but all in all I'm really happy with them and hope they survive their early years. I think they're a positive disruptor in the energy market. Rates have been ridiculous for too long, we need more companies like Tomato to rectify this.

Isolation switch fitting

Trying to get an isolation switch fitted. Not the easiest process... Had to phone back quite a few times to get any answers. But eventually reached Humairaa who was brilliant and sorted everything out.

VERY LET DOWN

I transferred to this company in December but they would not take the gas account so left with EON. Had to call Tomato for a bill which came beginning of February. As EON was charging a lot for the gas I transferred to BRITISH GAS who in their wisdom also took over the Electricity account Erroneously as they admitted. I asked Tomato to take the account back and that have been fobbing me off. THAY ARE NOT TAKING ON New customers Now I have no electricity supplier and will have to pay 4 months supply to whoever. WHAT A BLOODY SHAMBLES.
