Unacceptable Billing Errors by Tomato Energy

I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

Switch Failed – No Supplier, No Billing, No Accountability

I signed a contract with Tomato Energy on 26th February 2025. The switch appeared to go through, I was given a customer number, and my tariff showed on the “MyWatts” portal. However, I received no bills, no usage data, and my smart meter went “inactive.” Eventually, I was told by Tomato that although my account was created, the switch failed partway through and they were never actually my supplier. I’ve now learned I’ve been using electricity without any active supplier since February — a serious and distressing situation. Despite multiple emails, Tomato offered no resolution, no billing, and no formal apology. I am now left to clean up the mess by re-registering with a new supplier and escalating this to the Energy Ombudsman. This has been an extremely stressful and avoidable failure in basic service delivery. I urge others to be cautious and Ofgem to investigate.

No customer service at all.

No customer service at all. They overcharged me on my first bill having falsified the initial readings. I pointed that out and have been waiting 9-weeks so far with no response at all to the complaint I raised. They just keep telling me it will be a further 2-weeks. Criminal! No wonder they have been disallowed from taking on new customers
