I have been renting a property from Thornley Groves for the past 2 years, and the lack of communication and professionalism from the team is quite shocking.
We have been passed around several property managers without any communication, meaning that when there has been issues within the home, and we’ve telephoned, we have been told multiple times it is not their concern as they are no longer our property manager. Furthermore, in emergencies it is impossible to get in contact with anyone. We are currently dealing with a leak that has seeped through 2 stories in our building, with no response from any of the team, all numbers available on the website going to voicemail.
On the topic of poor communication, due to our property being a student rental, we have had several house viewings. Many of which have been moved, cancelled and arranged with 0 communication to us, resulting in the team coming in while we sleep, and viewing our rooms while we are asleep, which is completely inappropriate and unacceptable.
Unfortunately, the company also cannot keep track of deposits and their tenants. We renewed our contract for our property for a second year, but changed some of the tenants. One of the tenants who has left has still not received his deposit back, and a current tenant hasn’t paid one, and the team hasn’t taken any notice! Furthermore, we informed the team multiple times that we had renewed our contract (and signed new tenancy agreements), yet were still told we were expected to vacate the property. Even upon correcting the team, they continued to send information to old tenants, completely oblivious to their mistakes.
When we first moved into the property, it was disgusting. The property had not been cleaned, including dead insects all over the property, “mess” in the toilet, and the house was unliveable. The floorboards were not secure, mould in the bathrooms, holes in the walls and broken locks. Only half the issues were fixed upon moving in, and we still deal with many of the broken parts of the home.
Overall, Thornely Groves have awful communication with the tenants, and unfortunately it seems they like to take advantage of their student tenants. I have been advised to write a formal complain, but due to the experience I’ve had, I doubt they would reply.
