If I could give no stars I would. The wait was very long. Wrong directions on where to go once we received our bags. The individual on the phone was rude. I definitely should've read the reviews prior to booking. I would never use this company again!

I had the worst car rental experience with this company. Despite the website clearly stating that the car would be delivered at the airport of Toronto, the actual pickup location was far away. After multiple calls, no shuttle was sent to pick me up, and I had to take a taxi at my own expense. The customer service was unresponsive and unhelpful throughout the entire process. Additionally, the insurance I purchased from the website where I booked the car was not accepted by the rental company. No one helped me resolve the issue, and I was forced to buy a second insurance. This company lacks transparency, professionalism, and basic customer support. I strongly do not recommend this company to anyone.

Manipulative Upselling and Hidden Charges During a Family Tragedy We booked a Kia Seltos (SUV with AWD) for $109.24 via Trip.com/ Skyscanner, with insurance included. When we arrived at Routes Car Rental in Denver, we were grieving the loss of a close family member the night before and shared this with the representative, Kalki. She told us the car didn’t have AWD (false) and wasn’t an SUV (also false). She convinced us to pay $108 more for an “upgrade” and had us sign a new contract with Routes directly, instead of using our original Trip.com reservation. She never told us we were buying extra insurance—she just asked us to initial the contract, and we were never sent a copy. Later, we realized we were charged nearly $500. Before we left, Kalki asked us to leave her a 5-star review immediately, while still at the counter. Later we learned reviews couldn’t be edited, which made her behavior feel even more manipulative. Trip.com warns rental companies not to upsell or pressure customers into extra insurance, but that’s exactly what happened. The timing and tactics felt exploitative, especially during our time of grief. We will never rent from Routes again.
We only booked our vehicle online through Routes website. Seemed easy to navigate & understand. We’re getting into YYC - Calgary a bit late 9:00pm so hoping we don’t have to wait too long for the shuttle…

Deceptive sales tactics, they advertised a $12.00 per day, and when I arrived to rent the car, they added suplemental fees and it almost trippled the advertised rates. Unfortunately one is tired and ready to go to a hotel, and THEY KNOW THAT, so one has to take it in the cobotty, for there is no time to go somewhere else. my advise, stay with the main street companies, these people are back alley dealers.

An absolute scam. I rented a car at Routes.ca through carrentals.com, prepaid and non-refundable. When I arrived to pickup the car, the agent said insurance was mandatory. I showed my Allstate ID Card... not enough, they needed to see the policy. I pulled that up on my phone... they said it was still not enough and insisted I buy their CDW or I could not have the car I had already paid for. Pure extortion. After the trip, I checked with my Allstate agent... yep, my policy is full coverage on rentals; in his words "you were ripped off". I tried Routes customer service via phone and email, and all I got was the run around. They kept saying "you did not show insurance". Total lie. Completely dishonest company. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Awful. FOLLOW UP: Routes posted a response to this review, totally ignoring the content of the review! As clearly stated, I did provide my Allstate insurance policy at time of pickup, verified that my policy does cover rental cars, and also have already contacted their Customer Support by phone and email. They want to appear as though they are being reasonable, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. *** Steer clear of this horrible company ***
