Routes Car Rental

Rented a truck, drove it away ok. Loaded it up and realized that the tires were low on air pressure. 20PSI instead of 80PSI. Tried to fill the air in the tires, but couldn’t do it as the valve was facing the inside of the dual wheel setup. (4 tires on the rear axle). Called Routes for help and they were of no help, suggesting that I unload the load or pay for roadside assistance.

Avoid these guys like plague. They will do everything to frustrate you to buy their coverage. This they will do in the face of valid evidence that you are covered elsewhere. They are not also friendly. Their pick up van will tell you 4 mins and will not show up in 30mins

Shuttle from airport had to come twice for me to have room. Then told them I wanted to pay tolls. Instead I got a bill for $7toll and $50 "administrative" bill from them. Just a way to get the most out of any company. Low rate and then the hidden fees so they make more money. Anyone but Routes.

It is a theft from the company! They increased the price by 200 dollars when claiming the vehicle! We do not recommend it. False advertising.

TOTAL SCAM I arrived to pick up a car and found the terms very different from what I booked. Unlimited mileage was suddenly limited, there was a fee for going to Quebec, and they asked for a lot of personal info that isn't normally required to rent a car. The clerk was very rude and abrasive throughout. When I asked to see their privacy policy, to know how they would store and protect the personal info they were asking for, she snapped "that isn't the law". Other customers were clearly having similar problems at the same time. When I finally agreed to take the car on their new terms, she wasted even more of my time, first saying they didn't have a clean car, then saying they wouldn't honour the contract and they would not provide a car at all. I asked her name and she refused to provide it; I asked for the manager's name and she refused to provide that either. A very unpleasant experience that wasted several hours of my day. Avoid these bait-and-switch scammers and their dodgy policies.

I rented today @5PM MDT a Durango 7 seater thru Expedia. I used my own car insurance AllState with 75K non owned automobile endorsement car insurance. The lady told me it should be 80K. i rented before here in routes and they allowed have 75K. they told me i have to buy insurance with them with 80K. This is insane!!!. They downgrade my rental to a Jeep 5 seater and it is very dirty. they are asking if i want to be clean, of course the car need to be clean. Terrible experience!!!. DON'T USE ROUTES CAR RENTAL at all cost in Calgary. I don't why if you are local renter (from Calgary) you have to deposit 1,500 CAD and with only 200KM per day while if you are not local renter your deposit is only 500 CAD with unlimited km. WORST EVER!!!

I have used this company once before and they were awesome. This time I booked on their website and although the layout makes some areas hard to complete, it wasn't terrible. I reserved the vehicle I need and am looking forward to another great experience with Routes!

I have used Routes several times now, and they have always been easy to book, quality vehicles, and the prices are much lower than their competitors. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is in need of a dependable rental car.

I am grateful and happy on how I was treated on my car rental experience. The staff was super helpful and knowledgeable. Every detail of the transaction was explained and all of my questions were answered. Will definitely come back for my car rental needs.

First of all, they force me to purchase their insurance. Secondly, I didn't get the car at the counter, because they thought my Chinese driver license, proof of the license translation, and my passport are not enough for them, they won't rent me a car without international driving permit. I think your employees are not well trained. This is the worst service I have ever get at the rental counters.

I returned my prepaid rental car at the Dorval location and I was told that there were no additional charges. I then received an emailed receipt showing that no additional charges were due. When I got home, I saw that the additional amount of CDN$174.91 had been charged to my credit card after the car was returned. When I questioned the charge, I was told that there was in fact no additional charge, and I was told to send proof. When I first sent documentation of the charge, I was told it was not received. When I sent proof of the charge a second time, Routes still insisted that there was no additional charge. I am currently in the process of disputing the charge through my credit card company.

I like to treat each car rental experience as an opportunity to learn why I shouldn't choose the cheapest option. Today's reason is the world's slowest shuttle and checkout process, the train required to get to the shuttle, and the surprise out of state driving fee. Probably would've been faster to walk to Alabama.
