We rented a car in Atlanta, Georgia and upon the rental had to up grade due to they didn't have the car I had initially rented. I am a very tall guy so smaller cars don't fit me. Was told my up grade was only $12 a day but ended up charged $15 a day, not that big of a deal. The agent asked if I would be going out of state at all and I told him I wasn't sure as I have family in Chattanooga, Tennessee which was only 20 miles from my mom's place in Georgia. The agent said ok that if I did I would be charged $30 for the days I did go out of Georgia. On day 3 of my trip I went to Tennessee for the night not an hour after entering Tennessee I got an email charging me $30 a day for my entire trip not for only day day I was there in Tennessee. I spoke to customer care and was told I should have called them and read their web site before renting from them( I went through Expedia). Of all the rentals I have had i can't believe how this company treats customers. I even call their headquarters in Toronto Canada! The hidden feas and other charges this company has is outrageous and I'll never use them again! And neither will any of my friends or family. It was a mistake trying a new car rental company! I'll stick to budget rentals!

I rented a car on March 17, 2025 and returned the car on March 21, 2025. The car was given to me with HALF tank of fuel, and I returned the car with FULL tank of fuel. I was charged $114.21 because I returned the car with more fuel then was given to me. Customer Service is theeeeee WORST. Stay away from this company. No one, absolutely no one returns a call and the generic email system sucks. What's worst is they take pictures of the gas gauge before i was given the car and when I returned the car. THEY HAVE THE PROOF of the fuel level. I asked for my money back and to no avail. Do not, I REPEAT do not rent a vehicle from this company. Oh and the customer service representatives do not speak clear English. They are foreigners so the language barrier is hard to understand.

Christian took great care of us. He gave us a great deal on an upgrade for our rental that turned out to be an incredibly helpful move for the group I was traveling with thanks to some unexpected nasty weather. He was quick, enjoyable, and caring.

There appears to be no connection with the online companies that sell Routes services. Moreover they do not honour what was stated by the online companies. Thus u really don’t know what you are renting until you try to collect the car.

Routes car hire with Europcar partnership is a total scam. I have booked a car hire from Liverpool, UK and followed the direction link from the confirmation email to the car hire office. However, the office has moved to a different location. Hence, I was late picking up a car. Spent an hour on the phone with Europcar, trying to find out where the office had been moved, no answer. I wrote an email to the Routes customer service explaining my difficulties and asking for a refund. No reply either. Total waste of money and time.
The rental rate is very reasonable and they kept the garage opener I left in the rental car last time. They provided honest service.

Horrible experience! A lot of extra fees that they do not go over . They are very unclear about all there policies. I ended paying an extra $300 in fees on top of the $180 I paid. I have rented many times before from other agencies and never had these issues. Do not rent from Route . You will end paying a lot more. The car was also dirty on the inside . Stay away.
Not sure why I went with this option, as reviews made this far from appealing. But I guess I root for the underdog, and because I was traveling alone, and the price so unbelievable, I wanted to see how bad can it really be. My experience was very good and the process very smooth! The car was super clean and a nearly brand new vehicle. Do keep in mind that getting a rental car at this price is going to impact some areas of your experience. Shuttle wait time was quite long from the airport to the car rental, about 25 minutes. Besides that, great overall experience!
