It appears that contracts are pretty much one-sided when it comes to the Octopus EV scheme.
I ordered the ABARTH 500 Scorpionissima Cabrio on the scheme - document executed as of 4th April, 2025 and was given a potential car delivery date of May to July. Contracts were signed between my employer, myself and Octopus at that point.
The expected mileage was 15,000 on the original agreement and it was a 4yr deal.
I was perturbed to receive an email as if I had generated my own new quote for a different car on 14th May (last week), which showed a lesser model Fiat 500e with less annual mileage on the 3yr deal – and more expensive. I didn’t generate a quote.
I got a note from Idris after that point, there who said they had sold out of the car in 2024…and if I was happy I should sign the contract for the newer, lesser car. I told him I was not happy – it had taken a month to tell me a car on their site had actually sold out at least 4 months before my order. But Idris assured me that there would be some form of goodwill. He was escalating it.
I got a note back this morning – when I chased idris – that the level of goodwill is a £30 energy credit and I have the pleasure of waiting till October/December for a car.
I am at a loss at the absolute lack of professionalism and lack of care from this organisation – if I didn’t pay this month’s bills due to my stock of cash having run out last year, I am sure they wouldn’t be happy and a legal process would ensue.
After I sign a contract on a car that’s on their website…I expect the car.
And I expect less of “it’s not our problem”.
All in all really darned crap - if they cant sell, they aint gonna help you maintain it. Seriously - take this as a warning.
