Review summary
Lyca Mobile IE has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.
I port-in from 48 to this because I thought i the offer they had was better, the port-in never happened i called them approximately 20 times in 5 days, wrote emails and the never provided me a solution they just stated “they cannot do anything but follow up” AWFUL SERVICE, do not even think to change your provider to this. Highly not recommended it
Very Disappointed – No Service Abroad After Network Update
I'm very disappointed with Lycamobile Ireland. I'm currently on holiday abroad and my phone number has completely stopped working. I have no internet access, can’t make calls, and can’t send or receive texts.
Before the recent network update, I never had any issues using my phone abroad – it always worked smoothly. Now I feel completely disconnected, and it’s frustrating and even unsafe not being able to contact anyone.
There was no proper warning or help from Lyca, and I still don’t know what I need to do to fix this. I’m also unsure whether the service will automatically start working again once I return to Ireland.
Poor service and lack of support. I expected better.
After the recent upgrade, my mobile service has become almost unusable. I barely have internet access—around 90% of the time it's either extremely slow or completely unavailable. Before the upgrade, everything was working fine.
On top of that, I sometimes don’t receive calls at all. Instead, I get a message saying I missed a call, even though my phone never rang. This is extremely frustrating, especially when expecting important calls.
I emailed Lycamobile customer service two weeks ago, but haven’t received any response. The lack of support is unacceptable.
Overall, the service has significantly declined since the upgrade, and it’s causing real inconvenience. I hope these issues are addressed urgently.
I have had recurring issues with Lyca for almost a year now. After the activation process didn´t work and I contacted them via phone (do expect to wait a solid 30min to get through to someone that may or may not be able to help you) they managed to at least get my plan up and running. However since then I have on multiple occasions lost complete connection (signal/internet etc.) for up to 48h in a row. My phone either shows "no sim" or "no signal" and no restart, turning the eSIM on/off or flight mode has helped. I have again tried to call to resolve this to no avail. This is my final straw and I will change provider now.
There are two reference numbers 104808085 (for mobile ending with 226) and another one 104996696 (for mobile ending with 440). The first SR was raised on 26 December 2024 and another one last week, And I am being following up both, but no results. Executives are not helpful at all, they will transfer my call to supervisors and they don't do a thing. All I get is please wait for 24-48hr and we will try to resolved your query.
Another thing I will note is that one of executive told me that the number is not registered on the site, which is false otherwise I will not able to login to account and see my details their.
And other issues, that I am not able to download the itemized bills on Web application ( though it has download all option but doesn't work) nor on mobile application ( Which doesn't even have option to download the invoices). The services are degraded a lot.
Feel free to try to download the invoice from Web, login to your account
All I need is last six months itemized bills/invoice for the numbers. This is a crucial requirement for my visa my application and the deadline is 17 January 2025.
Lyca was good earlier in the days. But not anymore.
Update: Unfortunately it is not showing any errors on both the platforms.
"Patricia." helped me to get my physical sim converted to Esim , she really provided a specific steps to complete at my end , thank you patrica for precise help you are great at your work !
I took the lyca e sim. I tried to port in my number but failed and contacted the customer care many times but received no help. Eventually I requested that they reimburse the 110 euro that I had paid. After sending all required information and following up multiple times, after 2 months of waiting, I got the email saying the fund could not reimbursed as I had started using the bundle!! When I dont even have a number to ring or data to use, how could I be using the bundle. This is all so disappointing and exhausting. I feel like I have been cheated and have lost my money and will never trust Lyca or recommend it to anyone.
My Sim was Damaged and was lucky to chat with Patricia,
She was amazing, quick and explained every information I needed for a sim swap. The process was quick and seamless. she assisted me in completing the process in just a few minutes . i am really impressed and happy. Very Great customer service and shes really great at her job too.
Lyca has proven to be a dishonest provider with terrible, unhelpful, and even rude customer service. I suspect their advertising might not even be legal. I initially chose Lyca because of their €10 for 28 days promotion. I enabled auto-renewal as required and even have a screenshot to prove it. However, that wasn’t enough. Without any mention in their terms, they apparently require you to re-enter your card information after registration to maintain the offer.
Even after reluctantly activating the €20 bundle without any promotional discount, I continued receiving misleading SMS messages claiming there were better offers available, such as €1/month. Unsurprisingly, these offers turned out to be false advertising as well.
When I reached out to customer service, they blamed me for issues during signup and registration and told me to ignore the misleading SMS messages. When I asked for a document outlining the steps to properly activate the plan, they admitted no such document exists.
I’m leaving Lyca now. They’ve lost me as a customer and the rest of my family as well. Be cautious if you’re considering their services.
Lyca Mobile is by far the most dishonest provider.
Lyca Mobile is by far the most unreliable and dishonest provider I’ve ever dealt with. I initially switched to Lyca because my phone supports eSIM only, and they were offering a promotional plan for €10 for 28 days. I followed all their instructions, including enabling auto-renewal, as it was supposedly the only way to keep the plan active. Despite my efforts, the payment failed for no reason, and customer support conveniently blamed me, saying I must have done something wrong. Frustrated, I left and switched back to another provider.
Fast forward to recently: I decided to give them another chance, thinking maybe it was my fault the first time. This time, I triple-checked everything to avoid any issues. Guess what? They failed to process my payment again, and the promotion was no longer valid. They conveniently pushed me towards their €20 package, which is essentially the same plan without any promotion. When I called customer service, they claimed it was my fault for entering the wrong details in their system—completely absurd since I verified everything multiple times!
To make matters worse, they canceled my service entirely, leaving me without a functioning phone line. And of course, they shifted the blame to me once again.
Avoid Lyca Mobile at all costs. Their promotions are a scam, their customer service is useless, and they’re only interested in upselling you to more expensive plans.
To respond to your reply: I think I clearly stated that it happened to me twice. The same way. I initially purchased the plan through Apple Pay, when I called customer service one told me that they could not validate my payment method. The second time they told me that my eSIM card information is incorrect. I had added two payment methods to my account and still, I got my line cancelled.
Scammers
I signed up for a 10euro unlimited monthly plan. I got a message stating my payment had failed. No sign of a failed payment on my account. Contacted customer support while still in plan to rectify the issue to be told the system would try again between 11 and 12pm and if it failed to ring back and it would be sorted. Payment failed again, but no sign of an attempt to take money from my account. Rang customer support and was told I was out of plan and would have to pay full price. Seems like an absolute scam to me.
Don't ever give Lyca your credit card details. Just don't. Signed up for a cheap e-sim plan and stopped auto-renewal before going overseas. Lyca continue to debit and it's impossible to contact them. Lyca has stopped the email contact and OTP by email functions.
Contact by phone has no option to talk to a human. Chat allows you to talk to a person, but Patricia ignored the request to stop the debits and stopped communicating. A well organised scam. Bank will have to stop payments.
