Review summary
Lyca Mobile IE has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.
I port-in from 48 to this because I thought i the offer they had was better, the port-in never happened i called them approximately 20 times in 5 days, wrote emails and the never provided me a solution they just stated “they cannot do anything but follow up” AWFUL SERVICE, do not even think to change your provider to this. Highly not recommended it
Very Disappointed – No Service Abroad After Network Update
I'm very disappointed with Lycamobile Ireland. I'm currently on holiday abroad and my phone number has completely stopped working. I have no internet access, can’t make calls, and can’t send or receive texts.
Before the recent network update, I never had any issues using my phone abroad – it always worked smoothly. Now I feel completely disconnected, and it’s frustrating and even unsafe not being able to contact anyone.
There was no proper warning or help from Lyca, and I still don’t know what I need to do to fix this. I’m also unsure whether the service will automatically start working again once I return to Ireland.
Poor service and lack of support. I expected better.
After the recent upgrade, my mobile service has become almost unusable. I barely have internet access—around 90% of the time it's either extremely slow or completely unavailable. Before the upgrade, everything was working fine.
On top of that, I sometimes don’t receive calls at all. Instead, I get a message saying I missed a call, even though my phone never rang. This is extremely frustrating, especially when expecting important calls.
I emailed Lycamobile customer service two weeks ago, but haven’t received any response. The lack of support is unacceptable.
Overall, the service has significantly declined since the upgrade, and it’s causing real inconvenience. I hope these issues are addressed urgently.
I have had recurring issues with Lyca for almost a year now. After the activation process didn´t work and I contacted them via phone (do expect to wait a solid 30min to get through to someone that may or may not be able to help you) they managed to at least get my plan up and running. However since then I have on multiple occasions lost complete connection (signal/internet etc.) for up to 48h in a row. My phone either shows "no sim" or "no signal" and no restart, turning the eSIM on/off or flight mode has helped. I have again tried to call to resolve this to no avail. This is my final straw and I will change provider now.
I used to be able to use online banking on the go but cannot open the app since the (in my opinion) downgrade. I ttied with my Internet at home and the app opened straight away. Also, according to Lycamobile I am using much more gb since the downgrade, even when I am not on the Internet. Time to change. Thankfully I am not locked in. 48 is cheaper anyway!!! I don't want to add my number here as it is public.
Hands down the worst experience you will find.
===================================
If you wish to prank someone that you have extreme hatred for, this is the company you'd recommend. ----You would actually feel better being properly scammed by some Indian lad than dealing with this crowd.
===================================
--Support is the worst hands down, they will disconnect with you when you have an issue (at least 10 times), Most of the support there are useless again probably a 1 in 10 chance you get someone that will help, also they will disconnect on you if you try to cancel because of the support. And all the issues i had were caused by Lycamobile themselves so it wasn't something i could fix on my own. Took me 10 days to get the sim working and of course no reimbursement for the wasted days.
--The actual reception & service is perhaps the worst out of all companies, which is to be expected anyway at that price. Will just randomly cut you off the internet a couple of times a week for long durations.
--Hidden auto renewals for top up plans and you already know whats next, thats rights, its near impossible to stop them even after cancelling so they keep yoinking moneys.

So i do see some perks.
+If your a company and need an example of a company providing the worst service & support imaginable - look no further
+You dont get angry often, have a huge amount of patience & money to waste. Then this is a good place to try test your limits.
+Want to prank someone or if you kids are being bold, great company to switch them to for lol's

Jokes aside, dont go near them. If you really want to test your endurance, make sure you use a 1 time use online debit card, to ensure they dont keep stealing your cash when cancel (and you will cancel)
Cellular connection is extremely unstable, I have attempted to contact them via their website and it is impossible to connect with their customer service team. The low cost of their service is not worth the lack of service, better to spend a little more money for something that actually works (in my opinion)
I rarely leave reviews, but this time I’ll make an exception to help others and strongly encourage you not to choose this mobile network operator.
The reason is simple: you will be paying for a plan, but often face serious connectivity issues. For the past two weeks, the internet has barely worked, or only works at certain times of the day.
Once you enter a building, chances are you won’t even be able to make a simple phone call due to the extremely poor signal quality.
If you travel outside of Ireland, you’ll likely face even more serious problems. In other countries, your phone may only allow emergency calls, meaning you won’t be able to contact your family or even book a taxi.
I have never had such a bad experience with any other network provider. The worst part was arriving in another European country and finding that my SIM card didn’t work at all.
I strongly recommend choosing a better mobile operator — there are much more reliable options at the same price.
Although I found it tricky at the start to figure out how to contact you (because I had already returned to Canada), once in contact, I found the follow-up efficient, clear, rapid and respectful.
Mobile data stopped working since Saturday and for 3 days my phone doesn't have mobile data connection anymore. Apn settings are correct. I have enough credit on my account. Restarting phone doesn't help. CS is useless since its not possible to reach it, you need to hang on phone for hours. I sent an email, but no reply. Awful awful awful experience.
My experience has been extremely worrying so far, I am afraid that the situation won't improve soon.
I received the sms stating that due to a scheduled network upgrade I could experience brief service interruptions last week, but I couldn't imagine such a dreadful disaster.
I am disconnected from the network since Saturday.
No internet, no calls, no text messages.
It means that I cannot log into some web accounts, such as lycamobile account, since I cannot receive the texts.
Been trying to contact them since the other day regarding my purchased bundle thats not activated with my esim but unfortunately no response. Called them too but they just put me on hold for more than 10mins and didn’t help either. Disappointed really for using them.
