iDrive does what it claims. The support team is quick and very knowledgeable. Additionally, with daily email confirmations that your files have been backed up and up to date, I feel secure and confident my files (music, photos, important documents, and programs) will always be there even if I replace my servers, my phone, or personal computers. Very simple to use.
Great pricing! Easy to use software, multiple computers protected. I was able to backup it home computers and phones. Over 3.5TB of data. We have fiber internet so the upload went relatively quick. What used to take months to finish was done in a couple days. Very happy with the service and support. I have been burned in the past with on-site backup and Ransomware attacks. This solves that issue and the peace of mind is priceless.
I love that I can back up large amounts of data from our local devices for safekeeping. Frankly, we only use it for the purposes of data protection, since we have all of the files locally. But, it gives me such peace of mind know if my computer died tomorrow, I can recreate it from my IDrive account. IDrive runs in the background and doesn’t eat up a bunch of operating memory to do it. Very happy. Use it for both personal and business purposes.
iDrive's introductory deal of 10TB of cloud storage for $3.98 for the first year was too good to pass up. Gave me an easy way to back up my data for peace of mind at a low cost.
I actually Love IDrive - I used another big online back up company for 6 years but switched and am totally happy - backs up external HDs , videos and is very reasonably priced. customer service was quick and to the point as well with a question I had.. awesome
I use this service across both Windows 10 and Debian Linux. It is quick and easy to set up on both operating systems. Once it is set up with the drives/directories to be backed up, it works quickly and quietly in the background. The reports received via email about the success or failure of the backup are easy to read and useful to resolve failures.
Having used a couple other services, iDrive is quite good. I backed up about half a terabyte of data off my computer. That was little more difficult than I expected but figured it out. That took a few hours and now incremental backups are pretty quick. I also have it syncing my phone and that works great. The cloud sync, which was what I was most interested in, seems like an after thought in UX. It was difficult to get it to sync to all my folders on an external hard drive. Once it got set up, it works very well. I synced about a terabyte of photos and it took about 2 days. I love that I can drag a single folder into the cloud drive folder and I don't have to babysit it. The big missing item is: once all those photos are on cloud drive, there is no way to filter them, sort them or search for them. It's very difficult to find the photo I want.
I'm not very computer savvy and I haven't had iDrive but just a few days but I am appreciating that it takes care of my backups without my having to use a separate drive.
BEWARE ALL RESELLERS!!! I, too, am a reseller and got stuck in their bait and switch. For the last three years, I have been referring all my customers to iDrive to receive a commission on each account... or so I thought. I provided all of the information on my business account, including my PayPal account name, phone, and email, to be notified in case of an issue. But, because I was never told that I needed to complete a W-9 form to be paid, they have a hidden statement that says they will not pay any commissions older than six months. My commissions have NEVER been paid. Even though I have told them about the error, they point me to this hidden statement. I've tried to call, but they never answer their phones. I've left messages, but they never return calls. Only communication is via email. So, my only recourse is to cancel ALL of my customer accounts and move them to a more reputable backup platform. I may never get my commissions, but now they will LOSE REVENUE!!!
I recently purchased idrive and have installed it on my desktop, laptop, and phone. Installation was easy and setup was straightforward. I am especially impressed with their express service. I have a slow internet upload connection and the ability to do a local backup to a hard drive and seed my cloud backup is great. And it is included in the very reasonable price. I read the reviews, and changed to Idrive, and I am glad I did.
4* at discount price; 3-3.5* for full price IMHO. I have used iDrive for 2 or 3 years now, and am an experienced IT professional who has used many different backup systems over the years. On that basis I can say that iDrive is reasonably good and is priced well for me as I have multiple computers to backup and have tested the restore function several times; however, it is not without its flaws. I will often get around 20Mbps file upload to their servers when most of the US market is asleep, but it can drop very low around 1-4Mbps during daytime in the US. Will sometimes get backup failures without any listing in the logs showing which files failed; I have traced these manually on occasion to files I have deleted, or exotic/unsupported file formats, but iDrive software often provides no help in telling you the files it fails to backup. My other gripe is there is no way to block desktop notifications from appearing on top of other programs like games or movies, unless you turn the notifications off. Have also had issues with incorrect warnings about backups not have taken place for days if I set the iDrive service to 'delayed start' (for advanced users only). If you don't mind these issues then it is a reasonably good backup system for the regular price and a steal at the discount price. DISCLAIMER: iDrive offered to refund the full £6.50 cost of my subscription for a review; while that doesn't effect my rating in the slightest, it does explain all the 5* one-hit-wonder reviewers on here.
IDrive turned up to be the best value in comparison to other services for what I needed - online NAS backup. It has several other aspects to service - incremental individual machine backup, CloudDrive that I am starting to use, and are advantageous. The setup and interface have a few issues, I had some confusion between the web and local interface, but to their credit, the settings are fairly obvious, descriptions clear about what each option does, and to their credit options replicate consistently between local and online portals.
IDrive is so easy to use. You just install the software on your machine, sign in, and then it does the rest. You can choose folders to exclude and set specific times for backups as well as continuous backup. Plus the mobile app lets you access all your backed up computer files on your phone - this is a feature you won't find with some other backup services where your backup up files are not able to be viewed. The best bit about IDrive is that I don't need to worry and I can trust that my files are safe and will be available if I need them. Can't recommend it enough!
Great product. It works in the background to upload files. You can set it to automatically upload content. It does what I was looking for.
Just needed automated backups on my work machine and two weeks in I have no complaints, works as advertised.
Well, so far so good, especially when it comes to the quantity of space that you get. However, I need online storage so that I can take pictures and videos on a phone and have them close to instantly available on the computer, and unfortunately - it takes like 5 minutes. So I will probably have to buy dropbox. And keep idrive just to store long term files, not instant file transfer.
After some research I decided on iDrive due to their End to End encryption, deduplication for delta data (faster Post Full backups) and simple interface. Restore options to either download (which can be slow depending on bandwidth or traffic on their network i presume) or have them ship you a drive overnight for quicker recovery is a nice option. Just the peace of mind that my data is protected outside my home and the overall positive reviews were enough to try it out with the low introductory price. We'll see how it all works out when I have to perform a full restore to the new Synology NAS I will be installing in my home next week.
So far so good, I havent tried to restore anything yet. It says some files cant be backed up so I have to look at thet.
iDrive has been a great tool for backing up my files!
