Didn’t show up on the day and left our site and crew with no equipment. Waited on phone For over a hour to talk to HSS to find out they Subcontracted the hire but subcontractor refused to talk to us about our own order for data protection and hung up on us. Emails not responded and now have no choice but to start legal action just to get a refund let alone recover the costs incurred directly from their lack of professionalism or even basic communication. Find a local place and avoid these charlatans UPDATE. After the generic and disingenuous response from the social media person still zero contact from customer service after a week. Not even a refund at this point it seems like wilful ignorance. It’s a shame to spend £35 on a small claims court case but 5 working days is more than reasonable on my part

All ok apart from the collection, hence the 3 stars. Would have been nice to get a text/email the night before to confirm collection date. All I got was a text at 6.53am to say that I was next on route and it would be collected between 7:05 and 7:35am. Hardly enough notice.

Easy to book, collect and return. Very helpful staff member, friendly, informative and helped me lift washer into the car. Deposit returned promptly. Equipment worked well- fit for purpose.

Did the kit (long handle hedge trimmer) do the job, yes but a couple of things could have been better: 1. On collection, there were no details of the fuel mix requirement (a normally attached card was not present) and the agent couldn't find the details on the HSS system online, having to call someone to get the correct information. 2. Mixed messages online (HSS website and YouTube video) re: sale of the ready mixed fuel; one says available, the other not. 3. When using the item, maybe because the advised fuel mix was not quite correct, it pushed out black stuff (too much oil?) onto the engine grill. All of the above could of course be connected.

Very easy ordering process and a swift delivery made the whole experience extremely efficient.

I returned my rental item on Saturday, 17 May, between 11:35 and 11:45am—well within the agreed rental period. When I arrived, I was informed that the staff member handling hires had already left, so I was asked to write down my name, contact number, and the details of the item I was returning. Despite returning the item on time, I received several emails on Sunday and Monday stating I would be charged a £4.58 late fee. I called the branch on Monday and was told the system had been updated to show the correct return time, yet I was still charged the fee. I also attempted to contact the number provided on the invoice for two consecutive days but was unable to get through to anyone. As of now, I still haven’t received a response to my query. This has been a frustrating experience, and I hope someone can review this and resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Fair price of hire.

I needed a tower scaffolding, to paint the roofline at my house. I hired the MI tower from HSS online. It was a smooth process. Picked up tower from my local depot, staff were friendly and helpful. Tower was easy to assemble, it is lightweight as well. You would definitely need a transit size van, if you are not getting it delivered. I did click & collect. Would use again.

I’ve emailed twice to say part of the order was missing, not had a reply. I eventually had to buy the items again. Steer clear

Hired a Breaker, tools and extension for the weekend ,via online booking. I did not know that it required an additional box to allow connection to electricity and expected that it would be supplied as part of the Breaker. I was unable to use the breaker as a result and HSS have refused to refund. I had to rehire direct from HSS (Hevey). After complaining, my complaint is being looked into by Customer Service and awaiting their findings.

Perfect service, we held onto our machine due to materials not turning up, I didn’t get any hassle just a nice call or email asking if I wanted to extend my rental, easy to deal with I’ll be back

Helpful instructions from staff and a good demo Difficult place to find to collect item

I booked a professional carpet cleaner with HSS. Price was reasonable so booked. Item picked up from West Bromwich HSS Hire shop. Got home and carpet cleaner didn’t work. Luckily they were still open until 13:00 on the Saturday so took item back and was given a replacement no mention of a partial refund for the hassle. Replacement item worked well and carpets washed. Item returned within specified time. Was expecting the £10.00 refund as per invoice. Only refunded £4.18. Rang HSS West Bromwich to ask why was told nothing to do with them they are only the click and collect shop all invoice queries go to HSS Pro Service. Tried emailing them on multiple emails. All returned even the complaints email returned outbox was full. Rang them after 45 minutes gave up. Left a bad impression won’t use them again. It’s not even about the refund amount it’s the principle can I trust a company that doesn’t do what they’re supposed to and then have no way of contacting them!
