Very rude operator who asked me to repeat what I was saying 5 times then she hung up on me

A very strange case

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????

Closed down by Ofgem.

Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Reasonably priced but NO customer service

Economy Energy might offer reasonable prices but their customer service and payment service is absolutely terrible. I have been trying to pay a bill online for three weeks but there seems to be something wrong with their online payment system. The payment just does not go through and when I mentioned it on the phone and on the web chat the responses I got were with attitude and the wrong tone towards a customer!! I applied for WHD and will receive this in March but I will be moving away from Economy Energy very soon after. I'd rather pay a bit more and be treated with the respect I deserve. Roll on March!

Can I take this company to a small claims court?

Can I take this company to a small claims court? I wish I could! Left this company as they increased my direct debit even though I was massively in credit. I’m owed over £300 and have been informed they cannot say when I’ll receive a refund. The first direct debit was taken before my account went live the last payment was taken 10 days after my account with them closed. How are they allowed operate in these circumstances?

Fraudsters or incompetent.

Fraudsters or incompetent. Dreadful company. Never been a customer of thiers. However that hasn't prevented then. Telephoning everyday for the past week, demanding i pay my outstanding balance. They require me to prove i am not a customer. For the little information i have got out of them. The outstanding debt is from last October. 2017 For a property i sold in December 2014. They are not interested that this is a fraud . They quote data protection at every opportunity yet demand information for me. Insisting i get a letter of my solicitor to prove i sold the property. Stay well clear bunch of incompetence or may be fraudsters.

I contacted economy energy on 31/08/18…

I contacted economy energy on 31/08/18 to inform them that I had sold my property & gave them the final neater readings for both gas & electric. I have called a furthe four times & also lodged a formal complaint regarding the length of time it is taking to refund the £136.14 that I paid them in direct debits. Final call was today 12/11/18 at which point customer service member “Joshua” refused to provide me with either a date that I can expect my refund, the contact details for the refund department nor the contact details of a senior manager who could deal with my complaint in an effective manner (this I was told was due to data protection). I will be contacting watchdog, Martin Lewis & the ombudsman regarding this company because their customer service is shockingly bad. They have shown nothing but contempt for me & it appears they have done the same to others as well

Lack of response

I transferred to another energy supplier in August. Dual fuel contract. After repeated calls and a formal complaint where no one responded, I am still awaiting a refund for Gas and Electricity. They admit I am owed money but they are unable to process due to error following error on their part. It appears deliberate to hold on to my cash

I have had the worst possible…

I have had the worst possible experience with this company when trying to leave them. They simply refuse to refund me my credits on my Gas/Elec. I have over £100.00 credit since Aug 18 and as of today, 12.11.18, they still refuse to refund me. If I didn't pay my bill one month what would you have done to me? Yet you hold onto my money since Aug and refuse to refund? criminal!! Their Complaints department ignore all my emails, you know who you are!!!! (complaint ref 1368231). Why do you keep ignoring me???? I had have to log this with the energy ombudsman. Hopefully, I will get a load of compensation out of this. TO ALL: PLEASE BE AWARE SIGNING UP WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

Very poor company to deal with

Very poor company to deal with. Cannot log back into account even though I’ve only just left them. Increased prices significantly within 6 weeks of joining. Still have processed overpayments even though I’m owed nearly £200 for electricity alone.
