Very rude operator who asked me to repeat what I was saying 5 times then she hung up on me

A very strange case

A very strange case - I read that they went bankrupt in January 2019 and their clients switched to other operators. But, my friend made a switch to them in October 2021 and the gas card works normally ... What is going on ?????

Closed down by Ofgem.

Ofgem closed down Economy Energy in January 2019 following an official investigation into the supplier. In June 2018, the Economy Energy suffered backlash after customers complained about money being removed from their bank accounts without notice or explanation. The main reason for complain was that customers insisted that their accounts had been in order and that they owed no money to the supplier. This signaled the beginning of the end for the supplier. Customer complaints led to Ofgem opening a formal investigation, and at the beginning of 2019, the regulatory body banned the supplier from taking on new customers. One week later, the energy company ceased trading.

Maybe a way forward...

I am so surprised to see how many customers out there like me. I would suggest everyone to go to "The Insolvency Service Insolvency Practitioner Complaint" to make a complaint. it might help with speeding up the refund process. you need to name these three adminstrators Eddie william Jon Roden and Stuart Preston at Grant Thornton, which is suggested by the Ovo. Please share if you have better method

Creditors have continued with the EE…

Creditors have continued with the EE MO. No consideration to what EE customers accounts indicate in regard to detail or notes that may or may be still attached to that account. They have kept ex EE staff to administer this continued debacle with the various stages laid out on the administrators notes! They have pinged out final bills with links that don't work, from an email you cannot respond to endeavouring to retrieve as much as possible with no attention to fairness. Shocking!!

Complain to ofgem about the service you have received

I have had similar experience in this thread. I am being chased by Alied credit for energy I never used. I would recommend two things: 1. Go to ofgems website and search for: open_letter_to_insolvency_practitioners_appointed_to_failed_energy_supply_companies_.pdf. There are two important points in this article: a. When dealing with the customers of a failed supplier, particularly when seeking to recover debt, the insolvency practitioner must bear in mind the fact that the failed energy supplier cannot recover money for any unbilled energy that was incurred more than 12 months previously. Energy customers should not be pursued for unbilled usage older than 12 months. b. We expect that once customers have received a bill, they are given options within their control to settle, query and challenge this bill. 2. Complain to Ofgem - Their role is to ensure that customer rights are protected. In my case I did not receive a bill in the first instance and when they did it was wrong and I was billed for supply more than 12 months old and when I disputed this I was put in touch with Alied Credit. Ofgem should be monitoring customer experience with regards to insolvency practitioners. You should direct complaints to: feedback @ofgem.gov.uk and martin.cave @ofgem.gov.uk

It makes me even angrier reading all…

It makes me even angrier reading all the bad reviews here. These people are authorised criminals. I left the apartment in which they were the electricity and gas supplier 1 year and a half ago with a credit on electricity in my favour that they never processed. After some months they started chasing me for an alleged debit of hundreds of £ I had on electricity and when I checked my EE online account the invoices and payments history had been completely removed. So I called them several times to clarify this and they could only tell me: prove that you have paid all bills! I had the payments on my statements but not the invoices to prove I had paid the right amounts. Finally, after having received another threatening email from them I called them once again and they admitted they owed me more than £200 and that they would start immediately the procedure for the refund through OVO Energy. They wrote me an email saying that they would send the notice to OVO by end of that week and that then I could call OVO to claim the money and they would refund the money to my account after three weeks max. I called OVO yesterday, more than a month after my last conversation with EE and after 30 min of waiting time I got to speak with their customer service who told me that they didn't know anything about this refund and my name was not in their system. She even asked me my bank details saying that she would clarify this and possibly proceed with the refund, but I already know that she wanted just to get rid of me asap. I wrote an email to Economy Energy and asked them to clarify...guess what? SILENCE! I once trusted the UK system. I thought that I had rights in the UK, that there was always a just resolution to this kind of issues, but I see that there are authorised scammers out there and that our rights are all but guaranteed! Congrats Economy Energy! You made it! Second scammer of the year! Second only to Bojo...

I received a visit from one of their representatives and had I not been sceptical could have been fooled by the official looking ID into thinking he was more than just a cold calling salesman. I declined to discuss my supply with him and politely let him know I wasn't interested. Around an hour or so later, he returned and instead of calling at the front door, I watched through the window as he scoured the property looking around the side and into the back garden. When I opened the front door to challenge him, he walked away. Is this normal practice? Unsurprisingly, I wouldn't consider using this company and declined to do so

1 star is way above there worth

1 star is way above there worth. Devious criminals who should be imprisoned, if I had treated my customers like this I would have been arrested and rightly so. My worst experiance ever. I have to put ofgem in the same prison cell as they should have intervened when they got complaints off EE customers of which there would have been many. Modern day highway robbery.
