We used the team for a move for the…

We used the team for a move for the second time. The first was for a company transfer in the commercial sector, while the second was for a residential one. They surpassed our expectations both times. They do a fantastic job wrapping everything, and they're really resourceful and efficient at figuring out how to fit big furniture into small areas. For any future moving need, I would without a doubt suggest the staff at Coastal Moving.

**DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY**

This is one of the worst companies (not just moving) that I've ever experienced. -They give a quote and jack up the price last minute after strategically waiting for you to run out of time for finding other options. -They have multiple teams that don't communicate with each other. The team who helps plan logistics doesn't speak with the moving or execution teams. They made a mistake that jepordizes my move and all of my belongings, and expect me to pay extra to account for it. -Their customer service is incredibly rude and wil avoid your questions to try and make it feel like their mistake is your fault that you are responsible for fixing. -Additionally, they fake most of their positive reviews to sucker people into trusting them. They don't even bother to change the format of each review they write. Total scam of a company. Id give it a -12/10 experience. Would have rather moved myself at this rate.

I had a terrible experience

I had a terrible experience. I was quoted a price for a move from the Bay Area to San Diego. I gave an itemized list to the company. When the movers showed up, they said it would be 700 dollars more because the dining chairs did not stack. I specified that I wanted the furniture moved and delivered, and gave them a three day window. The furniture showed up three days after the window, and more than a week since the pick up date. A table lamp was shattered This company misrepresents the cost and seems to lack communication between the various departments. I gave them a contact phone number for the delivery, since I do not live at the delivery address's They called me numerous times instead of the contact person. They are very responsive when booking, and then no one seems to know what is going on. They insist on being paid in cash. So, there is no recourse.

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE! They broker out to a trucking company and our truck was too small and I have to rent a UHaul to get the rest of our things plus they arrived and said we owed another $1600!! Seriously? Hidden fees?? They know you have to do something- they scam! I am out more money than if i went to Mayfield! YOU WILL REGRET using them! They do not return calls after the move I had broken furniture the packers were awful things thron in boxes broken! They arrived in an umarked truck- This WAS the worst and I have moved 4 times!

Excellent experience! The movers were on time, friendly, and made sure everything was packed safely. They were careful with all my furniture and ensured nothing was damaged during the move. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone.

Total scammers they told me $2500 to…

Total scammers they told me $2500 to move my two bedrooms in state and then when the final review upped to to $4700 we finally settled on $3500 and then when they came out said no that my furniture was to heavy and it would be $4500 and when ask for manager he was rude and refused to give me his boss. He refused to give me my money back of $1400 and thought the already had $1000 more given to the movers and then said what kind of person was I that I was not going to honor the contract. I said I would if they did for the move for $3500 as promised which they would not. I am attempting to gt my $1400 back from my bank and looking for a reputable mover!!! DO TRUST THESE GUYS!!!!

I had a last minute pick up where the…

I had a last minute pick up where the company i had previously hired tried to double my price. I was completely freaked out and had no clue what to do. Coastal was able to get me picked up for 1/3 of the price that the other company was trying charge me. Thank you so much.

The price increased to more than double…

The price increased to more than double the quote! Ridiculous!!! The driver said they get this complaint all the time. They were very nice and polite, but of course they could not do anything about the price increase. Do not use this company!!

Missing Valuables and Coercive Payment Practices

At the time of booking, I was provided with an estimated cost by the broker; however, the final charges presented by the moving company were significantly higher than the original estimate. When I questioned the discrepancy, I was told that canceling the move would result in the forfeiture of my deposit—even though the company’s policy clearly allows for cancellation within three days of booking. Furthermore, Coastal Moving Services failed to provide an itemized inventory of the belongings they picked up. Upon delivery, multiple high-value items were missing, including a desktop computer valued at over $1,000 and more than five boxes containing personal property and valuables worth over $4,000. After I initiated a credit card dispute on the payment with Coastal Moving Services, the driver later claimed to have located six of the missing boxes. However, I also have a recorded call with a Coastal Moving Services agent named Leah, during which she explicitly stated that I would "never see [my] boxes" unless I submitted payment via certified check, without first verifying that my items had been delivered. She further stated that they would hold my items hostage, referencing a photo of the boxes as proof of possession.

Absolutely the worst moving experience…

Absolutely the worst moving experience I’ve ever had. Do not trust Coastal Moving Services with your money, your time, or your sanity. When I first contacted them to move me from Ohio to Florida, they quoted me around $2,300 — which I was okay with. I paid my $1,100 deposit and was told I’d get a confirmed move date within a 2-day window, finalized 3–4 days before. Everything seemed fine… until it wasn’t. They confirmed April 10th, between 9am–12pm. Based on that, I arranged transportation for multiple cars, gave notice to my landlord, and made serious logistical decisions based on their confirmation. Then, on April 9th, they suddenly contacted me saying they wanted to come with only 2 hours notice. I told them that didn’t work. So what did they do? They pushed it back. Again. And again. Eventually, they told me they’d come between 5–7pm on the 10th — the original agreed-upon date, just much later than expected. I accepted, trying to be flexible. Then they changed it AGAIN to 10–11pm. At that point, I was exhausted and out of options — so I reluctantly agreed. They didn’t show up until 11:43pm. I called at 11pm. No answer. Then I found out they BLOCKED MY NUMBER. Let that sink in — a company I paid $1,100 to, just ghosted me and blocked me. At that point, I’d had enough and decided to just get a refund and make other arrangements. I had to be out by April 10th or face extra charges from my landlord. Then the mover calls me and says it’s the company’s fault and tries to guilt me into letting him in to “do his job.” I told him clearly that my family — including my children — were already in bed and it was way too late. He didn’t apologize, he just kept blaming others and then said, “Are you going to let me do my job or not?” — like I had no say in the matter. When I told him to get the company on the phone or issue a refund, he just walked away, got into his truck, and left without saying a word. Absolutely unprofessional. Disrespectful. Disorganized. Borderline scam behavior. I do NOT recommend this company to anyone. Save yourself the stress.

I simply wanted a quote and when the quote was above what I was expecting, I politely declined the offer. The guy that was talking to me (either Juan or Dan) then became very aggressive in his pitch, demanding to know why it wouldn't work out. When I was honest and said it was above expected when other companies were offering me half the cost for a moving pod (I didn't want any manual labor in the offer), the man then proceeded to tell me that he was being honest and that I was being scammed. When he wouldn't let me speak again, I hung up. The man then furiously texted me, stating that "You will be apologizing later" since I hung up on him. I have the text screenshots to prove this. The man continued to text me angrily. I told him to stop messaging me and that I will not be spoken to so disrespectfully. The entire time we talked he spoke to me like I was a child. The final text message stated he was "trying to educate me." Terrible service for just trying to get a quote.

Bait and switch, extremely dishonest company

There is so much detail I simply don’t have space to include. Go read their BBB reviews. They are horrible all around. I had a terrible experience with Coastal Moving, and I would never trust them if I were you. My initial quote was $3300 to move a 2-bedroom apartment, but the final cost ended up being $7700. The company underquoted me to get my business, then raised the price multiple times. First, I spoke with Patrick Sweet, who gave the original quote after we discussed the details, including 30 boxes. A few days before the move, Marc told me the quote was raised to $5300 because Patrick had forgotten to include the boxes. Then, the on-site mover claimed the space estimate was off by half, raising the final quote to $7700. I had already paid a deposit, so I was forced to accept it. For comparison, I went through the same over the phone quote process two other companies who quoted me $6,878 and $6,789, using the same details. This shows that Coastal Movings original quote was intentionally low in order to gain my business. Coastal Moving is just a middleman and doesn’t actually do the moving. They also misled me about furniture wrapping, which wasn’t included as promised over the phone. When I tried to get compensation, a very rude customer service team offered me a $200 discount, then $500 after I refused. They did so using a “settlement agreement” that they quickly had on hand. Another red flag. I only accepted the $500 because the movers showed up unannounced and wouldn’t unload without payment. My delivery was also delayed, and they didn’t call 24 hours in advance as promised. As I continue to move in, I’m discovering many things are broken and missing parts. This company is dishonest, and I regret ever using them. The reply they have left below perfectly summarizes their “customer service” experience. They will simply restate the events with no recognition of the fact they are the ones at fault. They stick to the fact that “there were more items on day of pick up” without addressing the fact that they are the ones who create the items lists based on the information you share with them. As a moving company that bases their entire business on giving quote over the phone, they failed every time. They clearly train their customer service to haggle with customers more than they train their quoting team to do their actual job. On day of pick up, the movers briefly scrolled through the final item list with us saying “don’t worry if it looks like a lot, we list items we take apart, like your bedframe, as multiple items.” Did coastal factor for that in the quote? Nope. And how would we as customer know that? I also recieved no call the day before drop off. The driver even started the conversation by saying “someone was supposed to call you, did they?” meaning he clearly knew no one had. This company will lie to your face, then stick the the papers you sign to claim you knew all along. Do not use them. Again, their plethora of negative reviews speaks for itself.

Horrible Nightmare of a Move

Been two months since my delivery. Tons of items were broken and their subcontract mover Jackson Movers is claiming they don't yet have the delivery documents. They raised rates on me several times. Horrible cutomer service. Krystal is rude and unprofessional. The sales guy Patrick Sweet is a liar Run away from them as fast as you can.

STAY AWAY

Told when I booked that it would only be 3k and my stuff would be delivered in about 4 days. After they picked up my things they said 21 days and it was double the cost. STAY AWAY.
