Great trip from start to finish. Loved the canal trip and steam train. Our driver Graham was brilliant, nothing was too much bother, and he kept us laughing during our trip. The hotel was okay for the price but the strict limit of not being able to mix main courses was a bit frustrating as my husband has eating problems due to having had a larynectomy. All in lovely experience visiting beautiful villages.

Really the fact that you can't spell the destination of the excursion properly sums up the demeanor and clientele on the trip. The driver was amazingly brave in the face of the weegie' hoards. The Yorkshire Dales themselves were stunning and the hotel was very good at attempting to serve the dullards on the trip who thought for some reason they were the creme de la creme of society as opposed to drunken chain smoking idiots. The final act was when the coach left the hotel the massed hoards were exchanging revelries as to what the they had stolen from the hotel, cups, plates, glasses and happily saying that they had not left room keys when asked by the beleaguered driver.

Very easy to book on line and received confirmation very promptly. Received change of hotel details by email in timely fashion also.

Booking was quick and easy

I aren't one for complaining so I was going to let it go but as you are asking, here goes. This is the 1st time my husband and I have travelled with Caledonian and unfortunately it will be the last. The hotel was a shambles. It was really run down. Wooden, single glazed windows on a main road. My husband had no sleep all week. The windows also needed stripping and re painting. The fire door outside our room led to the stairs. It was absolutely filthy, in fact the morning after we arrived I was using wet wipes to try and clean it. I'm not a snob but that hadn't been cleaned in months. The ceiling in the ballroom was was filthy. The 1st night we sat in the ballroom my husband sat down and thought he had a wobbly chair. In hindsight I think the floorboards were rotten because later on we noticed the skirting board where we were sat was rotten, full of damp and mould. It even extended onto the carpet. I have an inhaler and would never have sat there had I had seen it earlier. It's a definite health hazard and should be sorted out as a matter of urgency. The lift is very inadequate, 1 lift for all those people. It kept breaking down. On Thursday or Friday they had a maintenance team look at it. There was no announcement to say that it would be taking place. It was out of order for 3 hours leaving many people with mobility issues stranded either in their room or downstairs. The food, oh my gosh. . . To be honest the starters and the desserts were nice but the main meals were horrible, especially the chicken dishes. The best thing about our holiday was the people we met and our driver (Simon) who was lovely and very informative. I will be 60 soon and on our Journey down I was looking at booking for a mystery weekend with you, I'm so glad I didn't. I really think that it would be in your best interest to send a mystery guest to the Torbay hotel to see what's going on.

Loved the trip the driver and fellow passengers were great. Food at hotel was not good and bed was a fold out bed so not a great sleep. But train ride was good

Easy to book and a good choice of holidays

We have just had an amazing two day on the Windermere spectacular trip for two day. Really couldn't fault any of this holiday spent a good four hours in Windermere that was busy with a beautiful market and a fun fair and a amazing cruise around the lake then up to the Windermere hotel our room was spotless perfect the food and service was perfect and plenty tasty for a three course staff were spot on serving and the same at breakfast and a very welcoming hotel. Our second day was a trip to Grasmere and Ambleside two perfect little places. We had good weather, a outstanding driver thank you Nigel from Danny's travels who was very informative and helpful. We actually didn't want to come home. This trip would do well with added days on. Just perfect in every way. Our thanks go to everyone that made us make more memories while we can. Highly recommend this trip to everyone. Thank you Caledonian Travel.
