Do not use this company, absolutely appalling. Picked up a car at Dublin Airport at 16.00hrs yesterday drove 30 mins to Kildare have been broken brown down since now 10.45 the next morning and cannot get through to any of the budget numbers provided. No body answering the phones and car broken down on the drive. Ruined the start of our family holiday. Someone please answer your so called breakdown number, emergency number, or any number at all would help. Disgusting do not use budget they are disgraceful.
The start to our visit to Ireland was difficult. The car pick up was not at terminal 1 as we expected according to the booking information from discovery. The Budget associate at the terminal didn't explain there was a shuttle bus to take. This should be more clear in the information upfront and could be explained with a map where to go for the shuttle bus. It took us 1 hour searching for the car park of Budget. We also called 4 times but nobody answered the phone. The bus driver and associates at the carpark itself were friendly and also the return went without problems. A minor thing is that it would have been nice if the Budget associate offered us a (more expensive) car with Airco for this quite warm week. Would be happy to pay some more. We got a car with some minor scratches and some stains inside but further without problems.
The man on the desk provided the perfect service
I rent cars with Budget in the UK and Spain on a regular basis. I have my own yearly car hire insurance for that reason. The holding deposit in Ireland is extraordinary high at €2700. In the UK it’s €200, Spain €500. If you have your own insurance, make sure you have enough on your CC to cover the deposit otherwise you will have to take out their insurance at €24 a day, be aware that they also take the fuel of €148, make sure you bring it back full otherwise you’ll loose that. To fill the car it costs €80. Not sure how the deposit is so high but hopefully I will get an answer when I post on trust pilot. Another issue, don’t try call the office, you won’t get an answer, I tried 10 times and no answer +353 1844 51 50. Send any queries by email. They will come back within a short period. Other than that, the staff are helpful and they were quick, spacious office.
If a key fob stops working, whose responsibility is it to fix it? I spent hours trying to get through to them on the phone. My insurance company told me not to tamper with the fob or door or I could be liable. Budget.ire would not give me this advice by email so if something went wrong I would have to pay for the damages. They will not give me terms and conditions of battery life in key fobs. If I was you, I'd demand a new battery put in infront of you! Like this has never happened to another customer!!! What a joke. Your latest response on 18/9 still trying to say I'm in the wrong. So if I had damaged the fob following your instructions or scratched the car following your instructions, what would be my rights be now?? You'd be sending me a huge bill. That is why I wanted confirmation by email before I tampered with your property. You couldn't do that, because....? Because if I broke/scratched it, you would make ME responsible not you. If I broke the key trying to get thr plastic cap off the door who would be responsible? Stop makiing it sound like im being lazy, a skin flint that didnt want to pay €2. I missed a whole part of my itinerary because of this. I did not want to stay in Killarney, I was trying to get to Dingle! No email from head office as yet! 19/9/23 They really don't like me asking questions. Look at todays email. Is that even legal to black list someone for asking questions?? Email ftom Budget.ire Hi We have already addressed your queries, and we now consider the case closed. Unfortunately, we would not be able to honour any future reservation with budget (Ireland) or Avis (worldwide) Kind Regards, Budget.ie 26/9/23 I contacted the car hire council of Ireland. They could not help me with my complaint. I should have tampered with the fob, they said. It's still grey area who is responsible in this situation. If I had broken the fob they wouldn't tell me if I would have been charged for damages. They both assure me there are no terms and conditions in this, probably quite frequent, situation.
Excellent service, great car and good value. Will use again
Very helpful and friendly
Hassle free, quick service, no horrible surprises. Would have given 5 stars but USB point was broken which was a nuisance.
Très serviable et sympa
Very helpful staff in Dublin Airport T2. Car sorted in minutes, ver quick and efficient.
Fantastic service from Damien & Conor. Could not be more helpful as we hired 3 cars.
1. When I collect the car, there is damage that is not shown on the form when taking over. Budget claims that they go through any dents and scratches before handing over the car. I have a picture that proves otherwise. In other words, they lie. 2. Managers in the company are paid part of their salary as a bonus or in case of increased earnings. It probably rubs off on everyone it seems. When they swindle themselves for extra amounts, it probably goes to more wages. 3. When handing in a car, they are in no way polite or friendly. It happens in an atmosphere of stress and condescending behavior to put you in a subordinate position. 4. When handing in the car, it was said that I was responsible for a scratch in the right fender seen from the front and a tear in the grill. When I showed a picture of the scratch in the screen that was taken by the tenant when returning the car, the person at the delivery desk went out and concluded that it was the same as in the picture. On the form that he then presented, he said that I was responsible for the tear in the grill and that was what I signed. I did that. 5. When I then receive an invoice, I am charged 900 euros. I get no documentation of pictures or detailed description of repair. I have to send my picture first. There, Budget claims that it is not the damage that I am being charged for. But when I enlarge the picture, it shows the damage. Budget does not answer that. 6. Budget does not respond that the invoice originates from a company called "Flynn Bros", which is located several hundred kilometers from Dublin. Why should Budget use a workshop there? 7. Budget rental car has the same phone number as something called "Flynn Bros" rental car. Therefore, there is a connection between the workshop and the car rental company. It does not inspire confidence. 8. The invoice lacks contact details from the workshop It's strange 9. This was an Opel Corsa with registration number: 212 D6959. If anyone else har experiences with this car, please submit hereon trustpilot 10. If I steal 900 euro I am considered a criminal. When Budget does the same to some of their customers, what are they?
Car was ready as promised, clean and efficient. Staff helpful - no messing around waiting when tired from flight!
We arrived in Dublin earlier today and were let down last minute by Europa car when we were on a time crunch for a wedding. We were worried about getting another car in time to get to the sticks, especially given the big match today! Luckily we found the amazing Paul at Budget who went above and beyond to offer advice on addressing our issue with Europa and secure us a fantastic Budget vehicle last minute for our trip! Fantastic customer service - would recommend and turned our day around :)
No sat nav working in car had to phone
Excellent staff in Cork Airport. Simple collection and drop off.
Service was fine vehicle was awful
I rented a car through Avis’ international website. As my husband is over 70years I carefully checked if there were some restrictions but nothing was specified. At Avis’ desk (which turned to be Budget at Corck airport) we were suddenly informed that my husband could not drive whithout providing a medical certificate and his own car insurance. It took us three days to gather all of that with lots of delays and difficulties from Avis’ team. We also asked a car with a gps to avoid international phone connexions. But the car did not have any gps. So all of this ruined our holiday and cost us more because of the lack of gps. The only positive point was that the car was a good one, new, clean and comfortable.
Great team..always pleasant, excellent service
