Don't take responsibility for flat batteries in fobs
If a key fob stops working, whose responsibility is it to fix it? I spent hours trying to get through to them on the phone. My insurance company told me not to tamper with the fob or door or I could be liable. Budget.ire would not give me this advice by email so if something went wrong I would have to pay for the damages. They will not give me terms and conditions of battery life in key fobs. If I was you, I'd demand a new battery put in infront of you! Like this has never happened to another customer!!! What a joke. Your latest response on 18/9 still trying to say I'm in the wrong. So if I had damaged the fob following your instructions or scratched the car following your instructions, what would be my rights be now?? You'd be sending me a huge bill. That is why I wanted confirmation by email before I tampered with your property. You couldn't do that, because....? Because if I broke/scratched it, you would make ME responsible not you. If I broke the key trying to get thr plastic cap off the door who would be responsible? Stop makiing it sound like im being lazy, a skin flint that didnt want to pay €2. I missed a whole part of my itinerary because of this. I did not want to stay in Killarney, I was trying to get to Dingle! No email from head office as yet! 19/9/23 They really don't like me asking questions. Look at todays email. Is that even legal to black list someone for asking questions?? Email ftom Budget.ire Hi We have already addressed your queries, and we now consider the case closed. Unfortunately, we would not be able to honour any future reservation with budget (Ireland) or Avis (worldwide) Kind Regards, Budget.ie 26/9/23 I contacted the car hire council of Ireland. They could not help me with my complaint. I should have tampered with the fob, they said. It's still grey area who is responsible in this situation. If I had broken the fob they wouldn't tell me if I would have been charged for damages. They both assure me there are no terms and conditions in this, probably quite frequent, situation.
