A Bad Experience and a Damage to Trust – I Do Not Recommend It

Double Injustice – My Car Rental Experience (Date: 07.07.2025 – Location: Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport) 🔹 1. When I Picked Up the Car: The company claimed the car was delivered with a full tank but mentioned the fuel gauge might be faulty and suggested I check it at a gas station if I had doubts. So I immediately drove to the fuel station located inside the airport and found out: the tank was not full. I filled up the tank myself for 370 TL – I have the receipt as proof. I informed the company right away and requested a refund based on the full-to-full fuel policy stated in our rental agreement. 🔹 2. When I Returned the Car: Before returning the car, I once again stopped at the OPET fuel station (just 4 km away from the drop-off point) and filled the tank completely. I then delivered the car to the branch. Despite this, the company claimed the tank was not full and said 4.31 liters of fuel worth 225 TL had to be added. At the time of return, the car showed a range of 580 km, but in the photo allegedly taken by the company after fueling, the range was 490 km – a suspicious difference. Mathematically, this makes no sense. I drove around 3,000 km with an average consumption of 5.5 L/100 km. To lose 4.31 liters over a distance of just 4 km is not only unlikely – it's practically impossible. --- ❗️Critical Warnings for Future Customers: ✅ Always check the fuel level, mileage, and dashboard data both at pickup and drop-off. ✅ Take photos/videos of the range and fuel gauge. ✅ Keep all receipts, especially fuel receipts. --- 🔴 Conclusion: The car was handed over to me without a full tank. Despite returning it with a full tank, they claimed I didn’t. I was unfairly charged – twice. I still haven’t received the documents I requested (handover report, extra charges breakdown). Unfortunately, this experience reflects a lack of transparency and poor customer service. I do NOT recommend renting from this company.

Extremely unprofessional

Extremely unprofessional. We booked a car and afterwards found out that the rental requires a credit card at the desk. We attempted to call the company and they told us that you can come by the desk and we can maybe find something out, but there is no guarantee. To be certain we tried to call again another day and then they told us that it’s not possible to rent the car with no credit card.

Unjustified Charge and Lack of Transparency – Disappointing Experience with AVEC During a recent trip, I rented a Peugeot 408 through Booking.com and had a deeply disappointing experience with AVEC Rent a Car. While driving on a narrow countryside road in the Urla area, I came to a stop behind two vehicles due to a tractor blocking the road. The tractor driver signaled that it was safe to pass. As I attempted to drive through, the rear left side of the car lightly brushed the cart, resulting in three small hairline scratches above the rear left wheel—very minor cosmetic damage. When returning the car, I was completely transparent and explained what had happened. The staff handed me the phone to speak with a manager, who told me that because my insurance was through Booking.com and not with AVEC directly, they did not recognize it as valid. He said they would inspect the car, issue an invoice, and charge my card—after which I could submit the invoice to my insurance provider for reimbursement. When I asked for an estimate, I was told they couldn’t provide one until the inspection. Shockingly, just 5–10 minutes after returning the car and while I was at airport check-in, they charged 50,000 Turkish Liras (~1,500 EUR) to my card without sending any invoice or explanation. To date, I have received no documentation or justification for this excessive charge. This experience felt exploitative, especially given the minimal nature of the damage, my honesty, and the complete lack of transparency or follow-up. I strongly advise anyone renting through Booking.com or AVEC to be extremely cautious. If you’re using third-party insurance, be aware that AVEC may not recognize it and might charge you a large amount without warning or proper documentation.

È stata una esperienza terribile

Abbiamo noleggiato auto in aeroporto di Istanbul prenotando 4 (!) mesi prima dalla data interessata. In arrivo scopriamo che la macchina chiesta è ovviamente pagata non è disponibile (si tratta dell'opel moka) e ci segnano la peugeot 2008. Non è l'automobile della stessa classe e costa appunto meno rispetto l'opel moka. Per loro cmq va bene e ci dicono o prendiamo l'auto o niente, per ricalcolare l'importo non se ne parla, non ti restituiscono niente. Un'altra sorpresa é stata che ci hanno insestito che la kasko ci fosse non é compresa nel prezzo calcolato e per la nostra sicurezza dobbiamo fare la polizza. Ho fatto vedere i fogli, condizioni di noleggio ecc. Non ci stato niente da fare. Il ragazzo insiste che non abbiamo nessun tipo della copertura. Ok. Facciamo l'assicurazione visto che ne abbiamo bisogno della macchina non rimane niente altro da fare. Non ci dà la polizza. Abbiamo insestito di averla e appare una bellissima scoperta che la polizza della copertura é Premium. Faccio notare che dobbiamo avere kasko e non premium. Della premium non ne parlato nessuno. Prima chiaramente ci hanno insestito con la polizza cda. Ci dicono che tanto l'assicurazione é stata fatta e non è possibile di annullarla e restituire l'importo pagato. Per me é un imbroglio, é una presa in giro. Approfittano dei turisti perché giustamente le persone stanno in vacanza rischiano di perdere i prenotazioni perciò hanno bisogno della macchina. Sconsiglio vivamente rivolgersi ad AVEC per noleggiare la macchina almeno se non volete esserci truffati.

Reageren niet op whatsapp berichten in Turkiye Antalya. Ze Boeken bedrag af van creditcard die je hebt afgegeven voor borg en vervolgens zonder instemming vd klant een bedrag extra bedrag afboeken van je creditcard. Daarna kan je achter je geld hollen. Zeer slechte service en brutale houding van personeel. Stay away van deze amateurs !! Ik ben in afwachting van mijn klacht bij dit bedrijf.

Ga alstublieft met deze bedrijf geen zaken doen! Loop met grote bocht omheen. Alleen maar ellende. Afspraken worden niet nagekomen, zijn ook telefonisch niet bereikbaar, ondanks bewijzen over de boeking hebben zij andere informatie, uiteendelijk kreeg het auto niet mee. Ik kreeg ook mijn geld niet terug. Geen betrouwbaar bedrijf! ( zacht uitgedrukt)

2 major failts and large yellow spanner…

My Daughter and I hired car from Antalya to drive to Mersin on 5th April, 2025. Car broke down 12 times, lost acceleration. Had 2 faults on screen plus large yellow spanner. Two and a half days we had no vehicle. Customer car was non existent . A terrifying experience for two women travelling through the night with no help or support

Great experience with Avec Antalya

Rented a small car with Avec from Antalya airport and it was great. The office is right in the terminal, the agent was helpful and accomodating. The car was a brand new Clio and was very clean with a full tank. Pickup and return were quick with no wait. The deposit was returned after a few weeks but without any hassle or having to remind them about it. Oh and most importantly they didn't try to push their insurance on me. Thanks Avec Antalya. PS. I think only people with bad experiences post reviews here and judging by the small number of reviews compared to other companies I figured this was my best option. Anyway I came back after the trip to actually share a good review here.

Even one star doesn’t deserve it Scammer ( it’s not full insurance) Keeping away Don’t rent from them No deposit return back They charge you for full insurance and İf damage happens they take alot of money from you They stole from me 80000 TL They’re using this business I don’t know why i didn’t check all bad reviews on this company I have all evidence they’re scamming for insurance No deposit return to you If you give them credit card you will face a big problem My recommendation to anybody don’t even think to rent from them Also recommend Rent from Companies that give full insurance

15 Nisan tarihli kiralamış olduğum araç konusunda internet sayfalarından rezervasyon oluşturduğuna rağmen rezervasyonu teyidi gelmedi bunun üzerine maile kendilerine ulaştığında otomatik araç kiralamak istediğimi belirterek bana ulaşmalarını isterim Call Center‘dan çalışanları bana ulaştı der rezervasyonunu oluşturmak için benimle temasa geçti zaten ödemeyi daha önceden almışlardı ama teyit yoktu daha sonra rezervasyon çalışanlar tarafından oluşturuldu fakat otomatik belirtmeme rağmen bana manuel rezervasyon yapıldı o gün havaalanına geldiğimde aracı teslim aldığımda bana menü manuel aracı teslim ettiklerinde şok oldum kendilerine belirttim ben manuel araba kullanamayacağımı otomatik araç kiraladığımı ellerinde otomatik araç olmadığını daha sonra rezervasyonumu iptal ettirdim sonsuz bir şekilde iptal oldu fakat daha sonra tekrardan rezervasyon oluşturduğunda anında bana aracı teslim ettiler fakat bu araç daha önceden ellerinde olduğu halde beni çocuğumla birlikte ve eşimle birlikte havalimanında mağdur ettiler bununla ilgili kendilerinden bir çözüm bekledigimi belirterek mail attığımda bana hala dönüş yapmadılar gerçekten çok rezil bir şirket hiç kimseye tavsiye etmiyorum 3 saat havaalanında onların yüzünden çocuğumla dört aylık çocuğumla mağdur oldum ve hala mağduriyetimi gidermediler

Avoid Avec Rent A Car at all costs.

I rented a vehicle from Avec in March 2025. Unfortunately, I was involved in a minor collision — but I followed all procedures, obtained a police report, and clearly demonstrated that I was not at fault. Despite this, Avec attempted to charge me for the damage and are still holding my deposit. Worse, they have ignored multiple emails and made no effort to resolve the issue. This is unacceptable and shows a complete lack of professionalism and customer service. Avec proved to be an unreliable and untrustworthy operator. If you value transparency and fair treatment, do not rent from them.

Great rental company for me

After reading all the bad reviews I thought it was going to be a bad company, but for me it was great. Rented a car from them for 3 days in Turkey. They picked me up from the airport and went to their off-airport rental office, a few minutes away. Did some paperwork, paid the deposit and rental fee. They rented me a fairly new car, clean inside and outside. It was also great we got free water bottles with our rental. Nice touch. When we returned the car the rental guy checked car and said it was no problem and drove us back to airport. One week later I got my deposit back. No problems. Great experience! The only thing I did not like (not Avec fault) that I made reservation through some other web site Discovercars, where i bought full insurance. Ive read others have problem with this setup when they had accident and Discovercars claim "we are only a search site". When I rent again I will reserve directly through Avec web site and use their insurance instead. So in short, for me it was great rental. I hope it stays that way, and no surprises after. Avec should translate their paperwork to English so it is more clear to rent for non-Turkish people. Good for both Avec and customers. (I will keep this review updated)
