A Bad Experience and a Damage to Trust – I Do Not Recommend It

Double Injustice – My Car Rental Experience (Date: 07.07.2025 – Location: Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport) 🔹 1. When I Picked Up the Car: The company claimed the car was delivered with a full tank but mentioned the fuel gauge might be faulty and suggested I check it at a gas station if I had doubts. So I immediately drove to the fuel station located inside the airport and found out: the tank was not full. I filled up the tank myself for 370 TL – I have the receipt as proof. I informed the company right away and requested a refund based on the full-to-full fuel policy stated in our rental agreement. 🔹 2. When I Returned the Car: Before returning the car, I once again stopped at the OPET fuel station (just 4 km away from the drop-off point) and filled the tank completely. I then delivered the car to the branch. Despite this, the company claimed the tank was not full and said 4.31 liters of fuel worth 225 TL had to be added. At the time of return, the car showed a range of 580 km, but in the photo allegedly taken by the company after fueling, the range was 490 km – a suspicious difference. Mathematically, this makes no sense. I drove around 3,000 km with an average consumption of 5.5 L/100 km. To lose 4.31 liters over a distance of just 4 km is not only unlikely – it's practically impossible. --- ❗️Critical Warnings for Future Customers: ✅ Always check the fuel level, mileage, and dashboard data both at pickup and drop-off. ✅ Take photos/videos of the range and fuel gauge. ✅ Keep all receipts, especially fuel receipts. --- 🔴 Conclusion: The car was handed over to me without a full tank. Despite returning it with a full tank, they claimed I didn’t. I was unfairly charged – twice. I still haven’t received the documents I requested (handover report, extra charges breakdown). Unfortunately, this experience reflects a lack of transparency and poor customer service. I do NOT recommend renting from this company.

Extremely unprofessional

Extremely unprofessional. We booked a car and afterwards found out that the rental requires a credit card at the desk. We attempted to call the company and they told us that you can come by the desk and we can maybe find something out, but there is no guarantee. To be certain we tried to call again another day and then they told us that it’s not possible to rent the car with no credit card.

We recently rented a Peugeot from your company. We returned the vehicle clean, with a full tank, and on time on [4 juni 2025]. However, only part of our deposit has been refunded. Unjustified Charge and Lack of Transparency – Disappointing Experience with AVEC During a recent trip, I rented a Peugeot 408 through Booking.com and had a deeply disappointing experience with AVEC Rent a Car. While driving on a narrow countryside road in the Urla area, I came to a stop behind two vehicles due to a tractor blocking the road. The tractor driver signaled that it was safe to pass. As I attempted to drive through, the rear left side of the car lightly brushed the cart, resulting in three small hairline scratches above the rear left wheel—very minor cosmetic damage. When returning the car, I was completely transparent and explained what had happened. The staff handed me the phone to speak with a manager, who told me that because my insurance was through Booking.com and not with AVEC directly, they did not recognize it as valid. He said they would inspect the car, issue an invoice, and charge my card—after which I could submit the invoice to my insurance provider for reimbursement. When I asked for an estimate, I was told they couldn’t provide one until the inspection. Shockingly, just 5–10 minutes after returning the car and while I was at airport check-in, they charged 50,000 Turkish Liras (~1,500 EUR) to my card without sending any invoice or explanation. To date, I have received no documentation or justification for this excessive charge. This experience felt exploitative, especially given the minimal nature of the damage, my honesty, and the complete lack of transparency or follow-up. I strongly advise anyone renting through Booking.com or AVEC to be extremely cautious. If you’re using third-party insurance, be aware that AVEC may not recognize it and might charge you a large amount without warning or proper documentation.

A+ 5 Star service Amazing Staff

20 years plus travelling with around 5 airport rentals each year, this is the First time in many years that an airport rental transaction went ever so smoothly.Excellent VW passat literally brand new car and one of only few times ever to actually recieve the car booked as normally always recieve something else in same category, Car loaded with fresh cold water bottles and mini perfume sprays booked car, excellent idea as this time of year on mid October still very hot and humid and tiring after getting through airport. Booked through economycarrentals.com, despite some bad reviews decided to go ahead as they were the only one who actually seemed to have the car I was after and worst case i knew there were many other reputable rental companies outside terminal ive used before at Antalya airport. This booking has an awesome review simply down to one thing. THE STAFF at Avec were absolutely amazing and above and beyond, the staff when checking car out, when returning the car for a change of car as my trip was extended and then finally the staff when returning the car back for drop off AVEC senior manages or head office please understand when i say this, you should be really proud of the staff and people you have working for as big companies sometimes forget the litte front office staff who are actually dealing with your day to day customers and these staff members are the face of your company, I must specially mention by name your Employee Deniz, he is and absolute credit to your company and has left a very good ever lasting impression, and its because of him i am compelled to write this review, the way he looked after my parents, myself and helped with all extra information, and then when i came to exchange the car for another, everything was made ever so easy, he is the main reason i would recommend to all my friends and family and always now try and book a car at Antalya airport always through Avec, i am coming again on February 26th 2023 for 10 days and will definitely be coming back to you Security deposit all returned back few days after i got back to UK, no issues whatsoever, absolute pleasure to deal with and have certainly restored my faith in car rental companies as many times its just a stressfull anxious experience Thank you Deniz, and thank you Avec

Refund is not received

I rented a car from Avec, I wrote an excellent review, everything was excellent. I was told that I will get a refund and notice of what they deducted from my 1500 Lira deposit; within 10 days, by now it has been a month since I left Istanbul on 18/7/2022, and I got nothing, nor even an email telling me of what I was charged with, in terms of tolls. My e-Voucher no.: EC315310 Car Hire Provider Confirmation No: 13097178936 By the way, when I returned the car at IST airport, the car was clean, no damages, and I was cleared by the employee who received the car. The fuel was more than what was in the car when I rented it. So nothing should be deducted except the tolls. Appreciating your action, I think you should have all my details, waiting for your response

Tourist be aware

Tourist be aware! I made a reservation for a Audi A3 and was told online age limit is 22-99 years old and price was for $306/7days Once I arrived to Istanbul airport to pick up the vehicle everything was going smooth until they noticed I’m a tourist and then stated “they couldn’t rent me the Audi A3 because u have too be 24 years old minimum. & when I asked them well then what car can I get? And they stated “Audi A3” Which was literally the car they said they couldn’t rent due to age. Anyways they told me $108/week so I figured idk what they doing here but they confusing me but at same time I’m getting lower price. After I signed everything I noticed the bill said around $350-$390 but when I checked my credit card I was charged $390 & $86 twice so a total of $562 !!! They don’t speak English well and will try to confuse you & rip you off. I spoke them the rental return person but again they barley speak English and don’t know what your saying.
