Great working with Argus, Budget not so much.
We unfortunately missed our flight and had to rebook the next day. Argus wouldn’t let us pick up the next day unless we paid an extra $390. Follow up: Even after writing the customer service representative that replied to this review, they refused to do anything. Evidently their policy is that if you need to delay your pickup for any reason, no matter how legitimate, they will make you rebook at current rates plus pay a sizable late fee. They are completely inflexible on this. Perhaps this is in their fine print but wasn’t expected for me, so thought I’d warn others.
Achtung, hier wird betrogen. Veranstalter (Broker) Argus Hire schickt Voucher raus, wo drin steht, dass eine Vollkasko abgeschlossen wurde und die Kaution 1.100 € hoch wäre, Steuern, Nachtzuschlag etc. wären alles inkludiert. Es wird sogar empfohlen, auf gar keinen Fall eine Versicherung abzuschließen. Der Mitarbeiter von Goldcar teilt mit, dass ich 4.600 € Kaution für die Versicherung (Diebstahl und Vollkaskoversicherung zahlen müsse) und zwar für 30 Tage wird dies blockiert. Wenn ich das nicht wollte, sollte ich nochmal 240 € zahlen. Dann wollte er noch Nachtzuschlag und Steuern. Das Ganze wurde über billigermietwagen.de gebucht. Andere hatten sich auch sehr darüber aufgeregt und der Mitarbeiter holte daraufhin die Polizei. Bitte schließt nichts über billigermietwagen ab. Die AGB´s stimmen nicht und Goldcar ist sowieso unseriös. Wo gibt es denn solche Kautionszahlungen?!
I have been trying to get my refund for a quarter of a year and instead of receiving it Argus is again requesting the same documents as 3 months ago. Their aim is to wear the customer down and, if possible, forget or drop their claim. Argus is an absolutely dubious company that I can only warn against. The complete case (24.09.2024) can be found in my review from 12.11.2024. I'm sure Argus customer service will again point out that the case is being processed - but it has been for a quarter of a year now!!! How long should a customer wait? Note after the response from Argus Car Hire, which has looked identical for months: Wait-and-see attitude instead of active support and unfortunately no mediation of reliable business partners - This is exactly the problem with Argus Car Hire!!!!
Bezahlte Buchung war 90 min nach vereinbarter Abholung weg, wahrscheinlich auch meine 500€. Die Mailadresse von arguscarhire Website ist ein Papierkorb, der 24h Live Chat ein Joke (ich befinde . ich seit ca. 30 min auf Platz in der Chat Warteschleife). Diese Firma verkauft für viel Geld Weisheit. Bei mir gibt's selbige umsonst: Finger weg und eine seriöse Autovermietung benutzen.
Mietauto über billiger Mietwagen im Juli gebucht für den 22.10.2024, Geld dafür wurde abgebucht. Am 22.10. standen keine Fahrzeuge zur Verfügung wegen Überbuchung durch Systemfehler. Bis heute 16.12.2024 kämpfe ich um den Rückerhalt der Fahrzeugmiete. 196.65€ einfach mal so einkassiert ohne eine Leistung dafür erhalten zu haben. Das macht mich sprachlos.
Argus seems to act as an agent or subcontracts the booking - in our case TOPCAR. This rental company was very poor with very long queues - it took us over 75 minutes to get to the front of the queue - despite my wife being in a wheelchair. We had ordered an AUTOMATIC car - none were available
Nicht zu empfehlen. Über Check24 gebucht inkl. zusätzlichem Fahrer. Hat vor Ort niemanden interessiert und uns wurden 90€ erneut in Rechnung gestellt. Auch unsere abgeschlossenen Zusätze (Vollkasko etc) hatten keine Bedeutung und der Herr wollte uns weitere (kostenpflichtige) Zusätze andrehen. Das Auto war im Innenraum kaputt. Hutablage kaputt und lose, Rückbank locker, Verkleidungen abgerissen. Nicht zu empfehlen.
Response to the Argus reply by Kholoud (yesterday). I think its important that customers know what service they are getting as car rental issues can spoil a holiday and be costly. Specifically: 1. Argus provide a contact number on the voucher to use if problems occur. I called this when our flight was cancelled. 2. Having been reassured our booking was updated and changed to collect the next day, I rang Argus as advised by Goldcar to see if the lost day of rental could be reimbursed - not my idea but suggested by agent in a recorded call. 3. Argus use a whatsapp chat which looks partially AI generated. it disconnects if no reply in 5 mins and you have to start from square one. I was trying to retrieve bags from cancelled flight at Gatwick with patchy phone signal so had repeated disconnections - what I needed was 5 mins with a competent person on phone 4. Spent 90 mins in 34 degree heat at Goldcar desk being told I was a no show and being charged more for one day less rental. 5. Argus - I booked with you so you needed to resolve the issues with the local provider, not penalise the customer. Will never book with them again - recommend Sixt for proper customer service
As always with Argus rentals, the experience overall was unbeatable - simple process, courteous friendly staff, quick and easy. Clean and well maintained car. Only one criticism, the car itself was uncomfortable and underpowered, with barely enough space for 2 of us with a week's luggage. But I got what I paid for, it was a cheap rental, so no complaint!
Rental booked in Sardinia through Argus Car Hire, local agent Gold car (July 24). Our flight was cancelled at the gate due to EasyJet staffing issues and we lost a day of holiday - whilst in Gatwick, I rang the number provided by Argus, spoke to an Italian lady and told her the situation. Requested to keep the rental booking but collect car 24 hrs later (wasn't fussed about claiming day's rental back either). Was reassured this was fine in a 9 min recorded call. Arrive in Olbia, Goldcar had me as a no show and there was no car available, said I was given wrong advice. Paid 175 euros to get a slightly bigger vehicle for a day less. I complained to Argus on return home and asked them to refund the 175 euro through Goldcar, forwarded texts & call log of my customer experience and asked them to review the recorded call. Flatly rejected and they are not a member of European Car Rental scheme (the ombudsman) so no recourse. Avoid like the plague
