Organisation & service was first class on both ships (Vega & Polaris).
I cannot fault the service I received from Rachel Mack. She went that extra mile to ensure that she was able to offer me exactly what I wanted from my river cruise choice. I had many questions and requirements which she dealt with in a friendly, helpful manner whilst remaining professional at all times. It was a pleasure to deal with her, she is a credit to APT.
Very high quality fabulous cruise.
Fabulous boat, immaculately maintained, excellent ports of call, enthusiastic and informative Tour Director, plenty of food and drink, ( though served by less than enthusiastic staff, no eye contact, little rapport ). Overall, an exceptionally good trip. We would strongly recommend APT to anyone considering a small motor yacht cruise.,

We went on the Magnificent Europe trip with APT starting on 5th July from Amsterdam. We couldn't be happier with the holiday! From the cruise director, Tomas, to the crew sailing the ship, everyone did their utmost to make our time onboard the absolute best. This was one of the trips where we had to start on a different ship to the one planned (we started on AmaVenita and then changed to AmaReina) because of the low water levels halfway through our holiday (we travelled on the Rhine/Main/Danube). But this was accomplished with little effort on our part and much work for the staff, credit to them all. And, for the staff, they were brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble, bar staff remembered our favourite drinks, restaurant staff the food we preferred. The cabin stewards couldn't be faulted and cabins were serviced twice a day. I really don't want to name particular staff as it seems a shame to identify one when all of them were great. I sincerely hope that APT pay them enough because it was the staff who really made our holiday as good as it was. The guests were made up of Australians, New Zealanders, and British and I'd like to add that the other guests were a joy to travel with. Open seating at the restaurant meant that you got to know lots of different people (only 142 on the ship on this trip) and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We had quite a few solo travellers and they were definitely not solo by day 2! Was there anything that could be improved? Yes. The wifi wasn't the best and, although we could have 2 bags of laundry done for free, we couldn't get a 2nd free sheet so gave up. Having said that, the laundry we did have done was delivered, perfectly washed and ironed, the morning after we had made the bag up - wonderful service - I wish I had the laundry lady washing for me full-time!!! Those couple of tiny issues did not detract from our experience at all and I only mention them to so that this review doesn't look like it's been written by an APT employee! Would I recommend travelling with APT - yes, this was a luxury holiday with a luxury price tag so doesn't come cheap but was worth every penny. The price for APT is inclusive of tours and gratuities so you really don't need any money other than for extras off the boat or souvenirs. However, you really need to want to take advantage of every tour otherwise it's an expensive way of sailing the rivers of Europe.

Overall we enjoyed our cruise but there were some points we would change. Due to timings of where we were & the planned excursions lunch was at 11.30 am a couple of times, we would have preferred an option to have a packed lunch. It was up to 37 deg during the week & as soon as we hit the locks they had to remove the gazebo on the top deck so that the ship could go under the low bridges. This meant that after the first 2 or 3 days we had no shade from the sun if we wanted to be outside. The ship itself was lovely, as was our cabin. Food was delicious but not good for the waistline, everywhere was spotless. Not sure about some excursions, perhaps we should have just enjoyed some free time instead.

Really enjoyed our cruise with Travel Marvel. Janos the cruise director was professional and welcoming. The tour guides that we had were superb, very knowledgeable and had excellent language skills. The places we visited were great. The boat was well equipped and the food had lots of choices. We would travel again with the company.

I have written to APT to complain about our recent experience on Capella on the Rhine and got a dismissive response. I therefore feel the need to put my complaints into the public domain to discourage future travellers from using this company. Having travelled with APT before, I was confident that this would be just a little less luxurious and inclusive. How wrong could I be! Bullet points of main issues to follow - ° Jacuzzi on deck broken. No apology ° Poor quality food at lunchtime - cheap salads (lots of lettuce) ° Not enough staff in restaurant so slow service, especially for drinks. Drinks service time limited to 8.30 pm ° Cruise director really couldn't care less and LOVED the sound of his own voice even on a 'lazy start' day when his voice boomed over the speaker in the cabin (in spite of promising not to) at 8am to tell us about the Rhine Gorge ° We were so delayed arriving in some destinations that the walking tour of the town didn't start until 5.30 pm. Poor organisation and no apology ° Flight cancelled to come home and APT said they couldn't help. Sorted a new flight ourselves then awoke to find that APT had cancelled that and re-booked a different route altogether. Had to cancel hotel, re-book our taxi at home, etc. A very stressful end to a not very satisfying week. There are a few other points related to organisation too. I have asked APT for some financial compensation but received only a 'we are disappointed you feel this way' letter. They have not even offered a discount off a future trip. We will never use this company again. Having been on 5 river cruises, this was by far the worst and, had it been our first, would have put us off river cruising. Pay more, use a different company (Emerald or Uniworld are outstanding) but don't use APT.

We had such a great holiday, they could not do enough for us, the whole package was amazing. Even with the problems of low water levels the organisation was very good

US
Unfortunately our holiday didn't get off to a good start as there was no representative to meet us in the terminal as stated in our itinerary. We tried to ring the emergency contact but our phone had no service so we then tried to find Cafe Leysieffer which was the designated meeting place but it had closed and been taken over by Caffe Vergnano. Luckily the manager there was very helpful and phoned APT who told us we would be picked up at 3pm. We were very relieved to see our taxi driver arrive at 2:45 holding a board with our name and APT Travelmarvel on. On arrival at the ship the welcome was friendly and the check in very efficient. We felt the cabin was well laid out, had plenty of storage and a fabulous bathroom. We were impressed with the meals and although the portions are not huge we certainly felt we had eaten enough. The wine served at lunch and dinner was very good quality. We enjoyed all our guided excursions and Roland our Cruise director kept us well informed and gave us a fantastic commentary of the Castles as we cruised the Rhine. Our return to Amsterdam airport was faultless and a rep even escorted us to our appropriate check in desks. All in all a fabulous river cruise.

Personally it was extremely good value for a Solo traveller. Everything on the AmaStella was brilliant. Not quite so great on the 2nd ship we had to move to due to depth of the Danube but still very good value. Great cabin. The included tours and Signature experiences were very well organised and enjoyable.
