The best electricity retailer I have had for 20 years
This is a great company if you use lots of electricity.
They give you warnings when the price is expensive so you can cut back your usage.The rest of the day your power is less then half the price of other power companies.As they price power on how much the are charged,not what they can get away with like other companies.They also send you details in the beginning of each season on their maximum charge related to peak pricing.They also have an app that shows how much power you are using at anytime and how much solar is going back into the grid.
When you have any questions they get back to you quickly.
Amber is the best electricity supplier I have had in the last 20 years.
Outstanding product. We get our electricity at cheaper price and best of all get great export prices. Customer service has been amazing, explaining each questions answer clearly with the assistance to talk us through what we needed to do. Well done guys
A breath of fresh air, with a company that is allowing solar and battery installers to be rewarded for their investment. Other companies, have reduced solar input to 3 cents per kw, an insult. Looking forward to a mutually rewarding experience, where we are rewarded for our investment.
I want to try amber as they advertised that their wholesale prices are better than energy offers. they have provided me 0.27 cents/kwh on an average... just on second day live prices on app shows $10 -12 per kwh... how insane it is. for just 2 days estimated usage showing on app is $15.....while i used to pay around $100 a month....in winter months...
I tried to contact customer care....after 45 mins of call waiting phone is disconnected automatically....
think before you go with Amber..
I have been with Amber only three weeks and already have saved about $150. It’s early days yet but I have been impressed with their customer support and advice. Hoping for some greater savings in the long term.
Horrible experience. The worst. Completely disorganized company, no customer service, transition to their service is a disaster even when we tried the option for emergency equipment in the house. We even had our solar panel company attempting to get an answer or some action but Amber are completely unresponsive.
We have been an Amber customer for 10 days and it's been an absolute nightmare. Our solar power has been completely cut off to us and we are now relying entirely on power from the grid. (Previously we bought almost nothing from the grid as we have ample battery storage). Our batteries are completely flat as a result of all power generated, (approx 28kwh per day), being fed to the grid whilst we are paying exorbitant prices per kilowatt hour.
Basically, Amber is stealing our power while charging us exorbitant prices for electricity. Double whammy.
Her have just written the Ombudsman and returned to Origin. It's not worth the stress.
We had such high hopes for this technology.
Man, get it together Amber.
UPDATE: We had attempted to cancel our account with Amber and go back to Origin but Amber will not release the account because “there are software problems with their system that are leaving them “too busy” to speak to us directly.
The Ombudsman has said that they are receiving an “onslaught “ of complaints from other Amber users that are primarily on the same, newer solar systems, like we are.
Apparently Ambers software is having compatibility issues with newer systems and the set up cannot be completed. As a result, this leaves us, and others, caught in a limbo whereby we cannot fully be signed up as an Amber client, (other than buying power from them at “market rates”), and we are unable to use our own solar because Ambers software is hijacking’s it, (stealing it), and selling it directly to the grid. Neither can we fully get away from them because their software has essentiall taken our solar system hostage until they can get it together.
It truly is the most dishonest, disorganised, horrible situation we have ever experienced.
Run away. Come back when thy have worked out their bug’s ESPECIALLY if you have an inverter that is less than 2 years old! We are completely powerless in every sense of the word. Stuck.
We switched to Amber and found the variable rate most helpful when using high draining appliances and they are very flexible with helping out when incoming money becomes an issue they offer alternative solutions
I've been with Amber for a couple of years, I cannot recommend them highly enough. The management of our solar/battery has been faultless. I have noticed some reviews saying they take a long time to get back regarding queries, perhaps I have been lucky but I find that they respond usually in 24 hours. My friends are getting tired of me trying to get them to change to Amber.
I’ve been with Amber for a few years now, their app and platform are really easy to use, and help me save on my power bill by informing when it’s cheapest to use, and when to avoid.
The team are also really friendly and easy to deal with, so it’s a winning combination tbh.
I’ll probably stick with them for life!
Amber have slashed our bills every single month. When you need help or need to make a enquiry, you get a person to actually help you. Text messages are replied to asap. We also get a text to tell us that the prices have risen in our area, then another to tell us the price have gone back down.
My bill quadrupled from $200 a month to $800 a month.
Tried calling them at least a dozen times but can’t talk to anyone.
I had to resort to calling their emergency number just to get through to somebody.
I was told my usage had almost doubled for the month…I haven’t done anything different with my usage this month.
And doesn’t explain why my bill quadrupled.

My interactions with Amber over the last month or so have been abysmal.. firstly asking for a quote re battery upgrade got a response 4 weeks later with an apology they had been "busy" ..gave up after 2 weeks and went elsewhere... Now also having problems with the Amber app and their Smartshift with a Sungrow Inverter and this has been going around in circles for 4 weeks with multiple people answering emails and nothing being done... Customer service hopeless 1/10 ...think seriously about Amber !!!
