Disgusting compamy

How on earth can Yorkshire Water possibly believe they are a good company. 21% water leakage. Polluting our rivers with sewage. Increasing our bills by over £200.00 per year. Still paying out bonuses and dividends to shareholders at our expense. I will vote for anyone who brings water companies back under being state run. To top it all off we have a hose pipe ban, I can't wash my car but I can pay someone else to do so. I can't wash my windows but I can pay someone else to do so, whats the difference? Yorkshire Water are you going to give everyone in Yorkshire a rebate?

Appalling policy for old vulnerable people

My mil age 94 just died, I was so shocked to see a bill come through door for nearly £600 for her water rates. Crazy for 1 old lady, i checked on Internet & it said if no savings & on pension credit she qualified for water support so I rang. I was told she should have applied when alive & that a leaflet is with each bill, well there was no leaflet with this bill and she had had dementia for years & would not discuss finances as she was scared with all the talk of being ripped off. As she still had capacity untill the day she died nobody could do anything financially for her. So she was allready being ripped off by yourselves, she didn't need to worry about random criminals, you were allready doing it. Obviously I'm not happy that you choose only to help those who know how to work the system and shout the loudest, while leaving the quiet vulnerable to suffer and then say tough when someone realises and points out that for the last 30 years she should have had help ! After leaving this review youve asked me to contact you but no details of how to do that ?

Great customer service

Great customer service, never had an issue with dealing with any queries that required a phone call. Recent (2025) price increases are absolutely disgusting. FIVE MONTH wait for a meter survey!

Yorkshire Water

After requesting a FOI response I was asked to be more precise ? So here goes .... notified Ofwat Dear Yorkshire Water FOI Team, Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I am requesting the following information regarding the drinking water supplied to YO41 5QF: 1. A full breakdown of all chemicals, additives, and substances present in the water supply, including but not limited to: • Chlorine and chloramine levels • Fluoride content • Nitrate, phosphate, and heavy metal levels (e.g., lead, arsenic, mercury) I live in the country side and I'm well aware of issues in the area !! • Any other substances added or detected in the water, including items not published in your online statement. 2. A copy of the most recent independent water quality test reports for my supply area, including any data on contamination or regulatory breaches. 3. Any internal documents or reports in the last 12 months relating to customer complaints about skin irritation, allergic reactions, or other health concerns linked to the water supply. In the entire area surrounding my postcode as I suffer with severe skin conditions and irritations. 4. Details of any treatments used to alter taste, smell, or appearance of the water, including the reasons for their use. Please provide this information in electronic format. If any part of this request is refused, please specify the reasons and provide details on how to appeal the decision. I look forward to your response within the 20 working days required by law. Sewage Spills: Investigations by Ofwat revealed that Yorkshire Water, along with Thames Water and Northumbrian Water, had routinely released sewage into rivers and seas, rather than ensuring that this only happened in exceptional circumstances. Metaledhyde and Pesticides: Yorkshire Water has been identified as potentially exceeding standards for metaldehyde and total pesticides in water supplied from certain treatment works, including Acomb No. 2, Eccup, Elvington, Loftsome Bridge, Huby, Irton, and Tophill Low No. 2. PFAS Chemicals: PFAS (Per or poly-fluorinated alkyl substances), a group of industrial chemicals linked to environmental and human health concerns, are present in drinking water, wildlife, and human blood serum. Yorkshire Water is addressing the presence of PFAS in the water supply. Lead in Pipes: While Yorkshire Water's water mains are not made of lead, lead pipes in homes can leach small traces of the metal into the water. Naturally Occurring Substances: Naturally occurring iron and manganese deposits can cause discolored water, but these are not harmful. Fluoride: Yorkshire Water does not artificially fluoridate its water supply; any fluoride present is naturally occurring and at levels below health and safety standards. Other Substances: Yorkshire Water monitors for other substances like Clostridium perfringens and Cryptosporidium, which are bacteria and microorganisms that may indicate contamination.
