Great teachers!

Kathrin has been an amazing teacher for the last year... Very friendly and engaging with the children and able to lead the lesson so that all the children get to improve and have a good time.

Excellent introduction to water no matter how young your baby

The swim instructors are fantastic, we had 2 in our time with water babies. From our first lesson when my little one was 6 weeks old to my last session when she was 8 months old. They were kind, helpful & most of all kept us safe in the water whilst having fun and bonding with our babies. It definitely helped my confidence & my little one has always loved the water & isn't scared at all. The only reason for 1 star short of 5 was the venue, because it is a private school it wasn't catered for the usual public swimming. So the changing facilities weren't set up with cubicles, showers, changing tables for babies etc. However, it was very local for us, so we were happy to compromise on this. We could have had lessons further afield with a more formal changing facility but this wasn't practical for us to travel.

Toria the waterbabies instructor at…

Toria the waterbabies instructor at jethen house is absolutely amazing!! She goes above and beyond to make parents and children feel comfortable, supported and heard. Nothing is too much trouble and any concerns you have regarding swimming with your little one is always taken into consideration and the support you didnt even know you needed is alway's given to make you feel confident and ready to swim with you baby. You can really tell the passion she has for waterbabies not only as an instructor but also as a parent who has been through it twice. Im so so glad I chose waterbabies and im so so glad we were put into Torias class.

Progressive and fun

Lessons are progressive and so much fun for me and my daughter. We have been attending since she was 12 weeks old and have no intentions to stop. The confidence gained in just 14 weeks is incredible. Lessons do tend to run late meaning we start later than expected, and this obviously will happen when dealing with children! but I have noticed that our session is occasionally cut five minutes short which is disappointing considering each session is over £20 for half hour.

We love taking Beau to water babies…

We love taking Beau to water babies with Kat. She is great fun and we have made some lovely friends in our group (both parents and children). Beau absolutely loves being in the water and his confidence has come along leaps and bounds. Our only negative is how incredibly expensive the classes are. We would love to take Beau’s little sister to classes too when she is old enough but I don’t think we would ever be able to afford two lots of lessons!

The classes are well structured but fun…

The classes are well structured but fun for all (the babies/toddlers and adults!) I have really liked that my little girl has been able to develop in her own time, not pushing them to go under water for example until they are ready and allowing you the communication with them. Despite quite a few teacher changes she has progressed and loves the water.

Amazing

Amazing Our teacher is just incredible and I love the water babies programme. It has given my children such confidence in the water and they have learnt such valuable skills.

It’s a nice but expensive

It’s a nice, well organised team. The only think I don’t really like is the price. It is quite expensive (£20 per half and hour).

Absolutely fantastic

Everything about water babies is fantastic. Our teacher Olivia at Gobowen goes above and beyond every session and makes not on our baby but us as parents feel comfortable. My baby has been doing water babies for over a year and her improvement is just incredible. Seeing what she learns every week and takes it on board is just incredible. Not only does she do these things at water babies but in the bath at home and when we take her to public swimming. Seeing her grow and improve every week is so worth the travel and the money.

Criminal practices - beware

I echo at lot of the negative reviews here, not because of the lessons are on the expensive side, but because from an administrative perspective they are robbers - and I’m pretty sure their practices are illegal. After emailing to let them know we would not be continuing with their service, and thus no longer paying, I received a notification from my banking app to say £67.50 was taken from my account. I would then receive an email to say that in order to cancel your subscription you must give 4 weeks notice, as outlined in the T&Cs. Firstly, I had never set up a direct debit, nor agreed to any terms and conditions when sharing my bank details over the phone. What’s crazier still, is that the payment is to come out on the 1st day of the month, not 5 days before… It is no co-incidence either that they take the money upon receiving my email. Just crazy, and criminal I’m sure. Looking forward to their automated response here on TripAdvisor, but I will be getting my refund and leaving 1 star reviews anywhere and everywhere.

Good lessons but avoid this company

First of all the instructors we had were all good and we had no bad experience with the classes, these and the venues vary depending on where you are. BUT The administration is the real problem, they use all sorts of dark patterns to lock you in. The terms and conditions aren’t available on the website before subscribing and they tell you to ask by email. First red flag You can only join or cancel by phone, email or post which adds tactical friction. Second red flag. On the phone they tell you that your baby must only use their own brand of nappy protector and wet suit. In reality instructors only want the nappy protector. Third red flag. The most critical we encountered is that despite their terms and conditions saying that you can cancel with 4 weeks notice when my partner called 31 days before the last lesson she was cancelling for they argued that it is not weeks but actually it is 4 classes and forced her to pay for one extra class. This wasn’t a single operator as they asked second opinion to their manager. The company bank on people like my partner that are lenient. I would have cancelled the direct debit. Their silly made up interpretation of being classes instead of weeks would not have withstood any ombudsman. I don’t have any link to the terms and conditions to share here because you know that’s something you want to hide behind a login page when you run a business exploiting gentle people. Avoid this dodgy business, they are not serious. It’s ridiculous they boast about being a B-corp when I had a much less evil experience shopping with Amazon or Apple. Update: Despite the answer below, nothing changed

Sandbach Waterbabies

Overall we've been really disappointed with the experience so far from waterbabies. Our little girl started lessons at Ashfields when she was 12 weeks old. The building requires either a code to enter or someone to let you in which for the first few months waterbabies had. They have removed this and it has created so many problems in that either the instructor has to leave the pool 5/6 times a lesson to let people in which means that out of a 30 minute lesson she's out the pool for 5 minutes of it or alternatively, we don't get let in until after the class start time which means by the time we have got changed we enter the pool 5/10 minutes late so only get 25/20 mins of swim time which when you are paying £18 per 30 minute session is ridiculous. When the issue arose in the summer term we raised this with water babies Sandbach and after our emails being ignored for 3 weeks we had a call from Oliver who told us they recognised it was an issue and we would all be issued an email with the door code from Anna by the Sept term so we hoped it would be resolved. This promise has never materialised so we are still having the same issue now. They also sent a generic marketing email around saying that they weren't going to replace the door entry lady that had left as this way worked perfectly well as the instructor did not leave the pool and spectators were expected to open the door.....not what Oliver had said on the phone or feedback from clients as we know we aren't the only one to raise this concern regarding classes at Sandbach. It's also not the reality as the instructors are regularly leaving the pool. I note my email from September regarding this has still gone unanswered too. In addition to this, since the start of September we've already had 2 classes cancelled (out of 6 so far), each time they were cancelled with no more than 90 minutes notice of the class start time with no reasoning. The message said the class would be rescheduled but on speaking with the office they said they were not rescheduling them. As a side note, the badge system that has been introduced is very poor, our little girl has swum with them for over a year now and has only received one badge so far. It's such a shame, as the issue in entering the building is a very simple fix, which Oliver agreed would be resolved by them however this has yet to materialise and therefore it appears that they have gone back on their promise in order to put profits ahead of benefit for the children.
