Our letting agent uses Rightmove referencing: So the Rightmove rep, Craig called my wife and within 30 seconds insisted on access to her bank account (?!). Then, when she declined and offered the usual payslips and statements, the rep said, "You want this property, get over it and swallow the pill".
I have never heard such unprofessional nonsense in my entire life. I am absolutely insensed and who in their right mind would give bank account access to a complete stranger in Ireland???
Who the hell do these people think they are? Does anyone trust 'Rightmove' with their personal financial data, you'd have to be insane.
I contacted Van Mildert to add a rent guarantee policy for a Landlord this afternoon and received an almost immediate response from Laura Mckimmie. The info provided was clear and prompt enabling the Landlord to make the decision to proceed without hesitation. Highly recommended.
Surprisingly helpful, quick and effective. As far as referencing agencies and letting agencies go, best experience I've ever had! (which granted isn't saying much)

Most of us haven't chosen to work with Van Mildert. We just have to in order to get a roof over our head. At one point they said I had to get a guarantor because I have a zero-hours contract (I don't). They asked me if I earned shares in the charity I work for (!?!). I was dealing with them at 1am (from overseas) sending paperwork after paperwork to prove to them I could afford to pay the rent. They kept telling me that they needed more. When they were finally satisfied, instead of telling me all was okay, they just stopped returning my emails. Leaving me wide awake ahead of a busy day wondering what had happened.
But worst of all, having had no choice in dealing with them, is getting constant spam afterwards about renters insurance etc. I don't recall being asked if you could use my details in such way. How dare you profit from me? Toe rags.
Honestly, working for a company that actively seeks to empower landlords and keep out tenants must be soul destroying - but for it just to turn into a grubby little spamming operation. Nasty company.
