Untrustworthy

Firstly, Princess Cruises turned out to be quite unreliable. We had six shore excursions planned, but the most important one — viewing the glaciers and icebergs — was canceled without adequate explanation. Another excursion, originally meant to take us to the city of Victoria, was substituted with a visit to a much smaller, unremarkable location, the name of which we don’t even remember. For these cancellations and itinerary changes, we were given just $200 USD per person as compensation — and even that had to be spent onboard. This felt insufficient and disappointing. Secondly, getting access to drinking water onboard was surprisingly inconvenient. Guest cabins were located between decks 6 and 14 (we stayed on deck 8), but the only place with self-serve drinking water was on deck 15. Each time we needed water, we had to carry our own thermos all the way up, and elevator wait times could be long. Alternatively, bottled water (800ml) was available at the bar for over $3 USD each, but the bar staff were not always honest. On three occasions when two bottles were purchased, the family was twice charged for three. Refunds were only issued after complaints were made at the front desk.

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. This is the 8th cruise we’ve been on (including others from the same group - Royal Caribbean & Celebrity). The ship (Sun Princess) is nice, but unless you are a meat eating American who likes X-factor style singers it isn’t for you. The breakfast consists of around 20 stations, 17 of which seem to serve variations of exactly the same thing (bacon, sausage, beans, egg - and pretty much in the same format - e.g. there are no poached eggs or eggs Florentine.). The buffet for dinner and tea is also poor. Same every day, and not great quality. It's also very bland. There are a couple of token Indian dishes, and even those are bland too. The entertainment is naff singers for the main part. We had 2 dreadful comedians. The only bright spot was the magician (Mike Bones) who was great. You have to pay for shuttles, the sunbeds get nabbed and left reserved all day without Princess doing anything about it, and even the kids sports area has basketballs but no football! It’s like non-Americans and non-meat eaters are second class citizens. Even the sandwich bar often only has a choice of meat sandwiches half of the time. On top of that they force you to carry a tracker, and they state on their app that they are capturing your facial recognition data (no idea why, but it surely is unnecessary and seems a breach of privacy). I asked for a normal card rather than the tracker pendant (which is magnetic and emits EMF) but they said I couldn’t have a card. I was looking forward to better entertainment and much better food, but left disappointed. This is the worse cruise we’ve been on for food, sport, entertainment and privacy. I’m posting the review here, rather than at the end of the cruise, as if my experience with Celebrity is anything to go by, they tend not to bother listening to genuine feedback.

We booked the Princess Premier Package…

We booked the Princess Premier Package and for 2 days now they've blocked my stepsons medallion insisting he can only buy non alcoholic drinks. He's 28 years old!! The ship is tired and a lot smaller cabins than other cruiselines we've used. Spent more time at guest services than enjoying the actual cruise

Definite Lack Of Staff

Went on a short 4 night trip from Southampton on 15/4 and the bar and room service was absolutely shocking. WAY understaffed, we often had to wait well over 30 minutes for our drinks order to arrive - if it ever did - which is not what you want when you have paid for the drinks package. Drinks to room service also even slower, we ordered a coupleo f bottles of water on the last night about 9pm , nothing ever arrived despite the App saying it had been delivered. I reckon a good 50+ staff short across all the bars & delivery services. Sky Princess was going to dry dock for a couple of weeks after our cruise ended so I think they had kept staffing to an absolute minimum as running things down. Also the entertainment wasn't as good as on our previous trips - there were a couple of Asian assistant cruise directors who had trouble with pronounciation for the quizzes and gameshows which wasnt what you need when playing. That said Paul and Sarah, the two cruise directors in charge, did a very good job. Will be going back to Royal Caribbean next time.

I travelled in October 23 and was due a refund to my credit card as a result of refunded excursions. It is now April and I am still waiting for the refund despite numerous phone calls, emails and a formal complaint. I have received no communication from Princess, I cannot believe the poor level of customer service.

Currently on the Caribbean Princess

Currently on the Caribbean Princess. Ship is overcrowded & understaffed. Queues for food especially on sea days. Very few quiet areas as they seem intent on ‘entertaining’ you come what May. Back to Celebrity next time.

Princess Pay Our Expenses when British Airways Cancelled our Flight.

Following a cruise last year our return flight from Barcelona was cancelled by British Airways at the last minute. Neither BA or Princess could find an alternative so we had to book a flight on the next day with a subsidiary company of BA and incurred the cost of the flight and taxis. BA covered the overnight hotel and some of the taxi fares but would not pay for the alternative flight. After all BA’s inefficiencies which created a very stressful and highly inconvenient time they expected us to pay for their failures. After lots of communication with both companies Princess agreed to cover all our expenses as a good will gesture. Good on them, left BA in a very poor flight.

Dont book anything with Princess…

Dont book anything with Princess Cruises. They are overbooking and then say the last minute that you cant travel. I booked for my travel over the phone and been fully charged for it! And 20 days before the sail i decided to do check in to input passport data and i could not!!! And when i started to call the support, they said that they actually did not allocate me with any cabin and that in fact they charged me to be on the waiting list! Now the cruise is fully booked and they have no more cabins available basically saying in the last minute that i cant sail in! Waiting for refund now! BUT HOW CAN THE COMPNY CHARGE YOU FOR SERVICE WHICH THEY IN FACT DID NOT SELL! It is really a scam! Dont book them

SCAM ALERT!!!!!!

SCAM ALERT!!!!!!! THIS CRUISE IS A SCAM!!!!!!! I am currently on the 04/02-04/09 Ruby Princess cruise and we have skipped 2/3 ports because the captain can't figure out how to dock his ship!! We are the only cruiseliner that is not able to dock meanwhile all other ships near us have been able to! He claims it is windy and the water is rough but the water is so still and the weather shows the wind speed in the 1's. They will not refund anything except for the measly port fees which end up being less than $100 even though we spent a couple thousand since this is our honeymoon/my birthday cruise. On top of that, none of the activities have been fun and customer service is lacking. We requested several items when booking, and I had to keep reminding staff about our requests. Customer service is so slow everywhere as well and it is taking staff about 2 hours to deliver on anything. I DO NOT recommend Princess and will NOT recommend Princess to anyone I know. PRINCESS CRUISE LINES IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!

No comparison

Our cruise was canceled during Covid. We received a refund and was given future cruise credit. During Covid My husband was diagnosed with blood cancer and needed a bone marrow transplant. My husband is now in remission but we did not book a cruise before the offer expired as my husband was too I’ll to travel. My husband is now in remission and able to go on a cruise. Our agent contacted Customer service to ask for an exception and had a medical letter as support. The extension was denied. I also contacted CS and was told that my request was escalated to the solution team. Once again no compassion. We were platinum customers and loyal to Princess Cruise.

Disappointed from the start!

First time Princess cruisers and not likely to book with them again. We booked to go on the Coral Princess over 12 months before sailing. We asked specifically for a midships balcony cabin portside, which we were assured we had. Unbeknowns to us six months before sailing we were 'upgraded' to a mini-suite at the bow starboard side. I have never had the privilege of an upgrade in my life, and this was one I certainly did not want! When we discovered this two weeks before departure I started ringing Princess. I rang every day to try and get some clarification as to why they changed the cabin without notification. They kept quoting that it was a 'guaranteed' cabin so they could change us where they like as long as it was an upgrade. This was not explained to us at the time of booking. So I calmly asked that they sort it out and return us to our original booked cabin. Each day I rang I got a different person at the 'call centre' and I got fobbed off every time. We were told that the ship was full and there were no cabins available and told us that our cabin had been booked - to which I said yes it is booked by us! Imagine our surprise that a few days before departure we were sent an email stating that passengers could put in a bid for a better cabin! Once onboard we went straight to the Customer Service desk to be told that no they could not move us anywhere and there was nothing available midships. Again to our surprise we were chatting to a person who had won one of these auction bids and had been given a cabin midships portside. Ringing the Customer Service people before the cruise was a complete waste of time. They were not going to help us, we were not considered at all. They were not listening to me and certainly did not care at all. To the cruise itself: Firstly, the staff were nothing short of fantastic, especially our cabin steward. Food was okay in the buffet and the dining rooms. We went to one of the speciality restaurants one night and it was not worth the extra money. The shore excursions were good but getting off the ship was appalling. I felt that the activities were not very appealing. The nighttime entertainment was not that good either although a few shows were outstanding, especially the last night. We have sailed with different companies so was not new to this type of travel. I think the whole problem with our cabin in the first place tainted the cruise for us and the fact that you really could not get to speak to anyone with any authority.

what's a reservation for if Princess keeps changing it after it's been paid for?

We recently made the payment for the reservation for a trip on the "Enchanted Princess" cruise line to the greek Isles. We made the mistake of booking both the flights and the cruise through "Princess" owned by Carnival Corporation. Right after we made the payment (about $10k), we got a notification that our flights had been changed. The change gave us only 55 min connection time for our flight to Rome. We called to try to get it fixed. After 2 hours on the phone, we got disconnected and nobody ever called us back. Our flights would get changed a few more times, each time for the worse. Not only our flights got changed, our cabin has been changed as well. Now what we have is a far cry from our original reservation. A reservation is meant to be kept. If you can't fulfill a reservation, especially after it's paid for, what are you doing in a business where reservations are the vital contracts between you and the customers? This has to be the worst experience we've had with a company. Where is the integrity and honesty? If i could give a negative star, i would. You don't deserve a star.
