Untrustworthy

Firstly, Princess Cruises turned out to be quite unreliable. We had six shore excursions planned, but the most important one — viewing the glaciers and icebergs — was canceled without adequate explanation. Another excursion, originally meant to take us to the city of Victoria, was substituted with a visit to a much smaller, unremarkable location, the name of which we don’t even remember. For these cancellations and itinerary changes, we were given just $200 USD per person as compensation — and even that had to be spent onboard. This felt insufficient and disappointing. Secondly, getting access to drinking water onboard was surprisingly inconvenient. Guest cabins were located between decks 6 and 14 (we stayed on deck 8), but the only place with self-serve drinking water was on deck 15. Each time we needed water, we had to carry our own thermos all the way up, and elevator wait times could be long. Alternatively, bottled water (800ml) was available at the bar for over $3 USD each, but the bar staff were not always honest. On three occasions when two bottles were purchased, the family was twice charged for three. Refunds were only issued after complaints were made at the front desk.

Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. This is the 8th cruise we’ve been on (including others from the same group - Royal Caribbean & Celebrity). The ship (Sun Princess) is nice, but unless you are a meat eating American who likes X-factor style singers it isn’t for you. The breakfast consists of around 20 stations, 17 of which seem to serve variations of exactly the same thing (bacon, sausage, beans, egg - and pretty much in the same format - e.g. there are no poached eggs or eggs Florentine.). The buffet for dinner and tea is also poor. Same every day, and not great quality. It's also very bland. There are a couple of token Indian dishes, and even those are bland too. The entertainment is naff singers for the main part. We had 2 dreadful comedians. The only bright spot was the magician (Mike Bones) who was great. You have to pay for shuttles, the sunbeds get nabbed and left reserved all day without Princess doing anything about it, and even the kids sports area has basketballs but no football! It’s like non-Americans and non-meat eaters are second class citizens. Even the sandwich bar often only has a choice of meat sandwiches half of the time. On top of that they force you to carry a tracker, and they state on their app that they are capturing your facial recognition data (no idea why, but it surely is unnecessary and seems a breach of privacy). I asked for a normal card rather than the tracker pendant (which is magnetic and emits EMF) but they said I couldn’t have a card. I was looking forward to better entertainment and much better food, but left disappointed. This is the worse cruise we’ve been on for food, sport, entertainment and privacy. I’m posting the review here, rather than at the end of the cruise, as if my experience with Celebrity is anything to go by, they tend not to bother listening to genuine feedback.

We booked the Princess Premier Package and for 2 days now they've blocked my stepsons medallion insisting he can only buy non alcoholic drinks. He's 28 years old!! The ship is tired and a lot smaller cabins than other cruiselines we've used. Spent more time at guest services than enjoying the actual cruise

False Charges on Princess

We are very experienced cruisers having sailed on NCL, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Renaissance. Princess was by FAR the worst experience we have ever had on a cruise. Our poor experience was related to unauthorized charges, failure to refund properly cancelled airfare for 4 months and terrible customer service when attempting to get the charges removed. We had the complete Princess Plus package so its not as if we tried to go cheap. BEWARE! In our opinion, we recommend seeking another cruise line due to their questionable billing practices and poor customer service.

Worst customer service ever!

I tried to book a Princess cruise. During booking the web page said to sign up for an account. I did, but when I went to finish checkout the price had increased by $50PP. I opened a chat with an agent who said they saw the original price and would book it for me. An hour later they said there was nothing they could do. Bait and switch. I've been trying to get Princess to delete my account for 10 days now. Do not give Princess any money or personal information. If they refuse a simple request to delete an account then how would you ever get a big problem resolved? Just say no to Princess, there are a lot of cruise lines out there.

HUGE SCAM BY PRINCESS!!!

HUGE SCAM BY PRINCESS!!!! BEWARE! As an Elite member, I get 10% off shore excursions. If they are booking in advance, the 10% discount is not applied until you get onboard. It becomes a credit on your shipboard account. If you end up with a credit balance at the end of the cruise due to this, they say they will send you a check for that balance. They never do! I followed up at least 6 times. Each time I got the runaround. Here I am 6+ months later and no resolution. Just another way they scam money out of their passengers.......

I went on the Alaska cruise ship by princess, saphire boat. The room had a humid smell. Also, it felt like they wanted to charge and sell you so many things non stop. The worst part of my trip is when I got burned with hot water I went to the medical center and they literally put on a cold bandage and gave me Tylenol they charged me 130 dlls. That is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life.

Back from a U.K cruise.

Back from a U.K. cruise our third with Princess on the Regal Princess. The only issue we had was the princess plus package wasn’t registered on my app. A tad frustrating as we had to question why drinks were added when they shouldn’t have been a number of times. However that was sorted eventually. Only one staff member we met in the Plazza cafe failed the normal Princess cruise staff experience which we’ve always found to be very good to excellent. Cabin immaculate, food as normal excellent. Looking at some reviews people had to wait for drinks at a bar. Only twice did I have to wait but no longer than I would have at my local and the bar tenders noted when people arrived so I wasn’t served behind anyone who arrived after me. Generally we were served virtually immediately. Great value and have a cruise booked in January on the Enchanted and another future cruise booked.

Two cruises, dont expect drinks.

We have had two Princess cruises. They were both good. The issue is with drinks packages. Princess clearly go out of their way to understaff all bars so that drinks take between 20 minutes and an hour to be served. If you don't pay extra for drinks packages then I would recommend Princess, It is so obvious that they go out of their way to profit from drinks packages. I pity the wait for anyone who wants a drink on a cruise. Drinks package or not.

My first and last Princess Cruise

I have just returned home from my first Princess Cruise. I am a seasoned cruiser and was appalled at the standard of food available, The Horizon Court offers buffet style at regular times throughout the day. At first sight there appears a lot of choice, but quantity does not equal quality. The pasta was tasteless, salad choice predicable and lifeless, the meat was tough as old boots, the bread rolls were rock hard. Dishes that should contain either herbs or spices just tasted of pepper. The main dining room was no better. It was over crowded and uncomfortably warm. Although, I had booked my choice of time to eat each day well in advance via medallion class app, I still had to queue outside the restaurant! Cocktails served were also way below standard, and appeared watered down and lacking flavour. Unless you purchased a speciality coffee you would get a weak 'instant coffee', again lacking taste. Shore Excursions were poorly organised. When dealing with a large number of passengers waiting to depart ship for their choice of paid excursion, the practice was to have everyone regardless of excursion, gather in one dining room and issue group numbers at the entrance. If this had been staggered, it would have avoided the stressful and chaotic scenes created by a high volume of people being merged into one. Any information from the Captain on the bridge could not be heard in your cabin. The only time dialogue was clear was the day of the emergency crew drill. From day one of my cruise you could hear an annoying tapping from 830 am in the morning which went on for most of the day. When a number of guests complained to guest desk services, they seem unaware of the issue and were not able to say whether it was essential maintenance being carried out. Despite reporting to guest services numerous times the tapping persisted. At the end of the cruise, Princess offered by way of a goodwill gesture $150 which was credited to your account, which could only be used when booking a future Princess cruise! The food is an important part of any holiday. Rarely would you lose weight on a cruise holiday but the Island Princess is certainly an exception. I paid a lot of money for this holiday and would certainly not recommend travel on the Island Princess with the current standard of cuisine and level of service offered by their Guest Services Desk. Extremely disappointed that I have had to write this review but unless a truthful feedback is given, Princess Cruises are unaware of the areas in which they need to improve.

Friendly helpful customer service

Friendly, helpful customer service. For medical reasons we needed to cancel a booking. The lady was sympathetic, helpful, clear, concise and took the appropriate action immediately. How it should be!
