Marsh and Parsons, Tooting - a really good experience!

I recently used the Tooting Bec branch of Marsh and Parson to sell my property and cannot speak highly enough of their Director, Angelo Mulholland. Angelo and Thomas Syms were reliable and honest in their dealings with me, they are both highly experienced agents who know the wider housing market and the local market well and understand the impact of the change in one on the other. Connor Marney, managed the on-the-ground marketing and sale of my property, an absolute star! Calm and reliable, unfailingly polite and hard working I felt really fortunate having Connor as part of my sales team. A big thank you to M&P, I have no hesitation in recommending you!

I worked with Marsh and Parsons to do a…

I worked with Marsh and Parsons to do a short-term lease. My agent rushed me to send over full funds (deposit and entirety of rent) immediately to secure the flat, warning me that I might not get the place otherwise, so I did. He wrote to confirm that I got the place. A month later, he said that I actually did not get the place as apparently the landlord was no longer renting it out, despite the contract and confirmation. He “generously” — that’s sarcasm — offered to refund the money. When he sent it back, it was short $1k. He refused to do anything else about it. Not only did he fail to fulfill contract obligations and screw me over that way, he also caused me financial loss for the privilege.

Clapham Old Town - Theo

Theo from the Clapham old town branch was fantastic and a real pleasure to work with. He kept a level head when things weren't going as planned and laid out the path for a smooth transaction. Loving my new home! Thanks, Tom

I would agree with the critical reviews…

I would agree with the critical reviews here. We rented out our house through Marsh&Parsons and they were very mixed. They had some good people but generally they gave the impression that property management was the poor and sloppy relation to the sales business. So they were aggressive at securing tenants but were sub-par at managing the property. Three examples - when they had someone repaint the kitchen ceiling the colours didn't properly match so we had to repaint it; tenants had a dog which was against the lease but the property condition survey didn't pick up on this despite scratch marks on the furniture; we were forwarded a two year unpaid invoice from the Council without apology or explanation two years after we parted this company. Do not use this agency - they will leave you feeling cheated and angry and life's too short for that.

They are terrible

They are terrible. No respect to the tenants at all. After we gave notice, they were bringing potential tenants all the time. They did not stick to the 24h notice and would call us all the time to arrange more viewings. They did not even know basic stuff of the apartment so they would bring potential tenants who were interented in different properties (e.g. different no of bedrooms!). They even gave keys to somebody who came in our flat for an inspection without us having given any consent!!! Stay away from those scammers...

It’s a scam, stay away

0 stars. Literal scammers, stay away from them: They pushed us into renting out a flat that is not suitable for human living conditions. The sound insulation is so bad the neighbor below can hear all conversations we are having, even a spoon dropping in the kitchen wakes her up, due to bad insulation. Tons of issues that where left unmentioned in the flat, such as the room of my door being unable to shut and the landlord being unwilling to fix it as he doesn’t want to waste money. The roof leaking and triggering a carbon monoxide alarm. The leak resulting in our items getting mold on them. My friends room dripping with water so she can’t sleep there anymore as it is soaked. The landlord called cheap builders to fix the issue, that made things worse. The bathroom has black mold that wasn’t removed, and fungi are growing by the kitchen sink, the hallway has an awful damp smell. I requested to carry sound tests before moving in, being a musician, and got denied access. Marsh and Parsons tried to make the neighbor downstairs sound as if she was being unreasonably feisty about noise, to distract us from the fact that the building’s insulation is the issue. Before signing the contract they merely asked if we’re ok with the landlord carrying some work to renovate the flat whilst we’re in. It was not mentioned in any way that the roof leaks when it rains, that my door won’t be closing and that there is no sound insulation (when I slept there I would hear every persons conversation from every room happening at once). I tried to swap the occupancy with a friend that didn’t mind the sound issues, and had to pay marsh and Parsons 50£, I told them his deadline of moving in was the 1st of October, provided necessary info, then called them up on the 10th to find out they did nothing and “ referencing agency was not responsive”. Two months passed where my friend couldn’t move in because the referencing wasn’t complete, which made me loose months of getting my rent money back (I still had to pay rent for as long as my name is in the contract). Missing that deadline also diminished the chances of me finding a new replacement as past late September everyone settles in a new home for work/ university etc, so it’s harder to find people looking to move in. The landlord furthermore gave me a hard time accepting my friend for the change of occupancy, who, by the end of it all, after two whole months of waiting to move in, gave up and said the company and landlord are so unprofessional he no longer wishes to move there. Everything about them is sketchy. They trick you into a 3rd year contract saying you can claim a break clause at 18 months and apply for change of occupancy earlier than that at the referencing fee of 50£, but they never get the referencing done and send the contract, etc fast enough for you to finally get of that shady contract, which is immensely disrespectful to the person you seek to switch your contract with, as they will disrespect their moving in deadlines and eat your money. No apologies, no excuses. As soon as they took my rent money, all agents that wouldn’t call me on the regular became ghosts and would consistently refuse to reply my emails and calls. Scam scam scam, please stay away and to all the fellow people giving bad reviews, please sue this company, I am in the process of taking legal action myself. This is what greed and lack of empathy does to humans, they live off taking your money and wasting your time, let’s shut them down

Property Management Failure

We used Marsh and Parsons last year to manage our property in Kilburn, North West London. Never again. From the very start it was nothing but stress for us and gross incompetence from them. The list of failures is far too long to go into detail here but needless to say we would never recommend anyone using them. We now manage our property ourselves and it is so much easier and cheaper. Your stock reply to this review sums up the attitude of Marsh and Parsons. For you to state that I didn’t give enough detail to find my records is ridiculous. How many flats in Kilburn did you manage last year that were owned by someone called Nadia? We also wrote a lengthy email after our tenant vacated the property with some of our grievances which were never properly addressed. We regret not taking it further at the time and going to the ombudsman because the stress was just too much. In hindsight we should have done. My advice to anyone reading this is NEVER use Marsh and Parsons to manage your property.

I would give a zero if I could

I would give a zero if I could! I’m a landlord struggling to get my deposit back. M&P said it would be released on the 22nd September and it’s now the 4th October… still waiting. They are disingenuous and blatantly lie. Do not trust them!

Horrible management of a flat

Horrible management of a flat which they rented to me from the Fulham office which was filled with trash and belongings from previous tenants. They acted untruthfully and shared no sense of responsibility towards tenants in flats they themselves managed. The agent who showed me the property lied about what work would be done, I then has to show emails proving what she has told me in order to get them to act.

Bullying attitude

I get that they're trying to please the landlord and they're working for them. BUT they also need to be polite to the tenants as well. An agent just called me and mentioned that I wasted his time and not call him again because he didn't like my offer. It was a good thing that this happened as we needed to filter things a bit - definitely blacklisted for life. Post response edit: 1. I understand that this is your canned response but I don't know why you feel the need to find me on your records 2. We have nothing to discuss.
