Extremely Disappointing Experience with JUCY – Safety & Hygiene Concerns Ignored Unfortunately fell far below the standards we expected, especially having had a great experience hiring in the past. From the outset, the vehicle presented multiple serious issues: Rear Suspension: Constant squeaking that made us question the safety and roadworthiness of the van. Black Mould: There were visible mould stains and patches of black mould inside the vehicle. Completely unacceptable in any rental, and downright dangerous for my partner, who has a respiratory condition and is highly sensitive to mould. Rear Doors: Both rear doors were extremely difficult to open, adding to our frustrations. We contacted your after-hours support line on Day 1 and requested a vehicle swap. We were not advised that this was even an option, leaving us stuck with a substandard and potentially unsafe vehicle for the entire trip. When returning the van, we again raised our concerns and were told by your staff that we should be entitled to compensation. We’re still awaiting confirmation on this. They also mentioned that mould stains are to be expected in a vehicles in Cairns. This experience was both disappointing and unacceptable, not just due to the condition of the vehicle, but the lack of support we received during the hire. We sincerely hope JUCY takes this feedback seriously. We will not be hiring from JUCY again unless there is a clear improvement in vehicle maintenance, hygiene, and customer care.

Too stressful to enjoy our holiday

The vehicles available are in a shocking and unsafe condition. We had to change vehicle halfway through our trip and only receives a measly sum in compensation. We have since been charged for an AA call out with a dead battery. The battery had to be replaced two days after this callout. The mechanic, upon seeing the battery, highlighted that this was in fact the wrong battery for the vehicle! Please avoid!

A Near-Death Experience – Do NOT Rent from JUCY

We put our trust in JUCY when we hired a campervan for a winter trip through New Zealand, expecting a roadworthy vehicle that could handle the harsh seasonal conditions. What we got instead was a complete disaster that nearly cost us our lives. From day one, the van proved to be dangerously unfit for the road. We lost control multiple times on straight, de-iced roads — and it wasn’t just us. A local road worker pulled us aside to tell us flat out: this vehicle should never have been on the road. That’s not just disappointing — that’s criminal negligence. The mechanical and structural issues were endless: The roof leaked, soaking our bed and sleeping gear. The hose for draining grey water was broken, leaving us stuck with stagnant waste. The shower was completely non-functional. Worst of all: there was a GAS LEAK. That’s not just an inconvenience — that’s a serious, potentially deadly hazard. This wasn’t just a bad experience. It ruined our trip. We had no choice but to cut it short and return home early after what can only be described as a near-death experience. JUCY’s negligence, lack of maintenance, and disregard for customer safety is unacceptable. Do not trust JUCY with your safety or your holiday. They clearly do not inspect or care for their vehicles properly. This company is an absolute disgrace and should be held accountable before someone actually dies.

Overall avoid!

Pros - Cheapest big company van rental (but you get what you pay for), staff are friendly, with the extra insurance check out and in very easy and quick (in hindsight too quick didn't really tell us how to make the bed etc), they paid for a replacement gasmate bbq when ours broke, you can stand up in the van Cons - very poor build quality and space lay-out. The van is massive but they utilise the space so so poorly. No clothes storage. No bin. Gas BBQ is in a box you have to take out every time (unlike other vans we have rented where its just a pull out draw. Bed is a massive massive faff to make everything. It involves removing a 3 part table and then rearranging loads of cushions before putting a sheet on. Again other vans just utilise the space way way better!

Worst car rental company in Australia

Worst car rental company in Australia. We were rented a vehicle with serious safety defects. Upon return, these defects were confirmed and documented. Juicy generally doesn't respond to emails. All contact is blocked. Worst customer service ever.

Camper van provided leaking during rain. Contacted to customer service and no response. Customer service in this company is a joke. Even you have to pay little extra go with the better one. Never go with Jucy.

Bed bugs, broken car, a legit scam, stay away

Bed bugs, broken car, with 400,000km on this car. this is the worse experience I have ever experienced! Picked up the car from Cairns Australia, and plan on returning the car in Melbourne. Second day sleeping in the roof tent, I have found bed bug but didn’t know it was bed bug at first. Woke up with my entire back and leg covered in bites. I thought it was mosquito for the first couple of days, but it gotten worse. I have picture to show you guys how disgusting my skins are right now due to the bits from sleeping in the tent. It is covered in both of my arms legs and feet, and some on the chin and my back. Second huge problem, on the third day the car got stucked in mud, and have to call them and paid $440 to get it out, and the girl on the phone call asking me to pay $3000 bound right the right even tho I have paid for the insurance. Two days later, due to how old the car key is, it just snapped in half, and have to also paid $330 to get a locksmith to come and get a new key, thank god I was not in middle of nowhere. And juts earlier today, the entire back bumper fall off in the middle of the highway. This car is literally on life support. Called JUCY customer, they tell me to pay for the fix and reimburse me later, like WHAT? I traveled with limited budget, I don’t have extra to cover it up. Anyways, ended up telling them I’m just going to duck tape it, they agreed, I told them I’m going to return the car early, because all of these issues, and they said due to policy they aren’t willing to pay back the dates when I return early. I’m literally going to call my credit card company when I get back and get my money back, because this is supposed to be a fun trip turned into absolutely disgusting nightmare with bed bugs biting me, car breaks down every two days, and when the weather gets cold it is also very hard to start up the car so good luck with that. Edit from the response: yes the car stuck is not covered in the “insurance” only if you didn’t put a worn out tire on the car maybe the car will still have a grip and allows me to drive?? Second, your car key snapped in half and that’s only if you didn’t give me a worn out key that’s been used millions of times? Your car is old, and it is full of bugs why didn’t you address that? Respond to my email already, I sent it two days ago, I returned the car early but still never got any confirmation email.

Très mauvaise expérience de notre côté

Très mauvaise expérience de notre côté, et pire enseigne de location de vans de l’avis de tous les Neo zélandais avec qui nous avons discuté. Une très mauvaise expérience qui commence dès la prise en charge du véhicule puisque nous attendrons 4h de pouvoir récupérer notre véhicule, avec une équipe que nous dérangeons clairement lorsque nous leur demandons combien de temps nous devons encore attendre. Nous est alors délivré un van à l’heure de la fermeture de l’agence, vieux de plus de 15 ans, mal nettoyé, empestant l’urine, avec une ceinture de sécurité tellement sale que nous avons du couvrir nos t shirts par la suite puisqu’elle les tachait. Nous avions payé pour un GPS que nous n’avons pas eu (haute saison je cite, donc il n’y en avait plus), des chaises et une table que dans la précipitation avant la fermeture de l’agence on ne nous a pas mises. Le réservoir du véhicule était à moitié vide, et après 4h d’attente on nous a proposé d’attendre 30min de plus si on voulait partir avec le plein. Aucune explication sur le fonctionnement du van, surréaliste pour les gens qui ne sont pas familiers avec les techniques de vidange etc de ces véhicules. Au cours du voyage, nous avons eu un souci avec la trappe d’évacuation des eaux sales. Leur service client est désastreux. Nous avons attendu 5 jours avant d’avoir une réponse (réponse hors sujet par ailleurs) de leur part. Heureusement que nous avions trouvé une solution par nous même puisque je ne sais pas comment nous sommes censés utiliser notre van si le réservoir d’eaux usées est plein et non vidangeable. Leur flotte de véhicule est vieille, usée, l’accueil est affligeant, le prix n’est pas intéressant par rapport aux autres enseignes dont les véhicules sont en bien meilleur état. Nous avons loué auprès de Jucy sur conseil de notre agence de voyage, malheureusement sans vérifier auparavant les avis des usagers qui sont tout aussi catastrophiques pour beaucoup, et nous leur transmettrons notre mécontentement.

location JUCY Condo par Motorhome republic

J'ai loué un campervan jucy via motorhome republicdu 26 mars 2025 au 7 avril 2025 en Australie. Une fois arrivée au 1er camping en faisant le lit du bas nous nous sommes apperçu que de l'eau tombait sur le lit du haut par le lanterneau du toit. Une présédente réparation avec des sacs poubelles était caché par les oreillets et les couettes. J'ai essayé de joindre jucy rentals via le numéro de téléphone donné et motorhome republic pendant 1 semaine avant que l'on me répondre et fasse une réparation sommaire. ces 2 sociétés ne sont pas sérieuse et je vous déconseille de faire une location chez eux surtout un jucy condo.C'est la deuxième fois que j'ai ce problème précédement c'etait en NZ

Never ever again!

Never ever hire a car from jucy!! Das war die schlechteste erfahrung,die wir je gemacht haben mit einem campervan. Wir haben unseren Condo in Cairns abgeholt. Die Abholung an sich hat schon ewig gedauert weil die zwei Mitarbeiter absolut keinen Stress hatten und damit beschäftigt waren, andere aufgebrachte Camper zu bedienen. Wäre eig das erste Anzeichen gewesen. Wir bekamen einen uralten Toyota. 354.000 km. Kurze Zusammenfassung: Es stank so eklig in diesem Camper, wie ein nasser Hund. Die Küche war sehr dreckig. Essensreste der Vorgänger am Gaskocher etc. Es gab Schimmel im Camper. Einige Fenster konnte man nicht öffnen (gut bei dem Geruch), der Heckscheibenwischer lies sich nicht abschalten, lief in Dauerschleife. Seitenspiegel lies sich nicht fixieren, hing immer runter. Bei Regen war das Dach undicht. Der Stromanschluss funktionierte nicht. Nach Anruf bei Jucy haben sie uns jemanden geschickt, der das reparieren sollte. Konnte er aber nicht, da laut ihm Teile getauscht werden müssten und Jucy sich wieder bei uns melden würde. Wir haben aber nie wieder eine Antwort/Lösung erhalten und hatten dann auch keine Lust unsere Zeit in der Warteschleife zu vergolden. Dadurch hat unser Kühlschrank auch nicht funktioniert. Wir waren also 3 Wochen ohne funktionierenten Kühlschrank unterwegs. Der Autoschlüssel war schon so kaputt, dass man jedes Mal wenn man den Schlüssel aus der Zündung zog, fast zwei Teile in der Hand hatte. Beim Drop off wollte ich den Mitarbeiter auf all die Misstände/Mängel hinweisen, damit diese behoben werden können, aber sie hatten kein Interesse daran oder war es ihnen schlichtweg egal. Ich wette der Camper geht eins zu eins genau so an den nächsten Kunden. Eine Frechheit dass man mit so alten Autos noch soviel Geld verlangen kann. Wenn ihr überlegt einen Jucy Camper zu mieten, lasst die Finger davon!!

Run away

Our experience with JUCY was very disappointing. The van had numerous issues: leaking windows (which we had to tape ourselves), a fridge that stopped cooling, a non-functional shower, broken curtain fasteners, dirty kitchenware, and missing essential items like a peeler or cutting board. Even after following their recommendations (plugging in every 3 nights), the battery was not charging properly, and the fridge drained all power — confirmed by a mechanic we visited at our own expense. JUCY advised us to send a summary by email, which we did… but no one ever replied, even after multiple follow-ups. We expected much more from a professional rental company, especially after paying for powered sites and enduring all these issues. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this service and will not rent with them again.

Perfect but there are minor faults

My boyfriend and I rented a Jucy Chaser (which came with an inbuilt shower and toliet) for 2 weeks in NZ. Overall, our experience was amazing given the price we paid- vehicle drove well, came clean and the shower was even warm! However, after about a week we did experience some faults with the vehicle, such as our sink starting to leak, the wheel alignment being out, and the door for the gas canister not shutting properly (which was dangerous when driving). This gave us the impression that any faults with the vehicles are simply patched-up in-between hires and are not properly attended to or fixed. However, despite many reviews calling out poor customer service, we didn’t find this at all, and when we requested a contactless drop off last minute the staff were extremely helpful and considerate. I would still 100% recommend JUCY for the budget traveller- just maybe don’t expect a perfect vehicle :)

Exactly the same negative problems with…

Exactly the same negative problems with another reviewer 3 days ago. Car leaking in passenger footwell, smells damp, squeaky front passenger wheel, extremely poor service. Customer service non existent. Told us to drive 2hrs to get another car .. not sure we’d get a better car! The seat had ruined my back very uncomfortable plus can’t put my feet out as dripping with water underneath dashboard area. Will definitely not use them again. Seeing the reviews they should be shut down for safety reasons. UPDATE… the Brisbane depot were far more helpful and upgraded our car without any fuss! If you use this company I’d suggest using an SUV from them and not the smaller cars!
