Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

Great user experience at a bargain…

Great user experience at a bargain price. I am keeping a backup of all my data in sync on all my laptops, seemless operation. The Web application is also nice, it can upload multiple files at once.

Value for money

While I think the UI is a bit outdated and sometimes somewhat confusing, I'm very satisfied with the many functions and technique itself. Backup and syncing are completely separate funtions btw. Value for money.

great low cost backup source for important files

great low cost site...i'm just getting started with iDrive. At first glance, I was hoping for better sorting capablities, That said, knowing my data, pics, etc are backed up safely trumps my sorting needs.

The backup service is excellent. I have a Synology NAS with 4To. No problem. It works like a charm. I recommend. It's cheap and effective. Really great. I like it.

Mauvaise expérience au départ

Mauvaise expérience au départ, j'ai déposé 1TB sur le sync cloud storage car la fonction Backup n'apparaissait pas pour mes documents. 3 jours de download. Ça ajoutait un 300GB sur mon MAC!! J'ai refait avec la fonction Backup, j'ai compris que je devais moi-même donner la permission dans ma sécurité pour mes documents (grâce à l'outil BackBlaze que j'ai essayé). Il manque d'interactions avec le client. J'ai dû faire des tests pour vérifier comment le backup interagissait avec l'ordi (enlève un dossier, remet le dossier) pour être certaine que je pouvais libérer mon disque dur sans rien perdre dans le cloud. Maintenant tout fonctionne, je suis très satisfaite. Je me sens plus en sécurité qu'avec un backup physique.

Good - Great value for the amount of backup storage provided and fairly straightforward. Bad - Although its not a one-to-one copy in function, the user interface is a bit confusing for me compared to services like Dropbox.

Fantastic cloud backup service, selective sync does not yet work the way we'd need it to

After trying a few different backup systems, we settled on IDrive to back up our laboratory instruments and are very happy with it - it's reliable and the ability to back up specific folders from each computer is exactly what we were looking for. We don't use the sync feature much yet because we need the selective sync to work slightly differently. At the moment, IDrive-sync's selective sync automatically includes newly created folders that are added to the synced drive and downloads them to all devices. This is problematic for us as each time we need to manually go back to each device and deselect new folders in the selective sync. This would be an even better product if there was a way to set up the selective sync such that new folders are automatically excluded instead of included.

Good Product Overall

The product and the backup procedure are solid overall. The iOS apps, however, exhibit duplicates, items that are not backed up, and crashes especially in the supercharged mode. The Mac app has far less functionality than its Windows equivalent, for example, no disk clone or full system backup which are core components of data integrity. Good product, needs work.

Excellent backup system

Excellent backup system. Easy to use and dependable. Flexible enough for anyone's needs and size of system. The first backup took a few hours, but the following ones take minutes and do not interfere with other computer uses. I'm very happy with this service, and can't see how anything could be improved upon.
