Tech support failure

I have been using iDrive for several years to backup our desktop and laptop PC. I have generally been quite happy with the product until now. Seven weeks ago iDrive started failing during online backup of one particular 256MB file. After many interactions with support they referred it to their "backend team". There has been no progress and not a word. I ping them every week and get the same response. I've had to resort to a local backup which I then copy to Google Drive. I will note that this is about 20X faster than IDrive online backup.

So far I am happy with iDrive.

I have only begun using iDrive. I have used other backup systems which seemed confusing to me so that I was never sure I was doing it correctly. So far, I like iDrive because it has a user-friendly interface for someone not really computer-savvy. I can back up to my external hard drive as well as the cloud, both backups can be accessed readily. I can backup on demand or on a pre-selected schedule. I have not yet tried the restore function. I have not yet made a mirror image of my computer, but to back up all my personal data took about 3 hours. Incremental backups take a few minutes. So far I am happy and have recommended iDrive to two people in my life.

Great Introductory Offer & User Friendly…

I got a great introductory offer and the software is more user friendly than the Acronis package I replaced it with. Understandably, the first full backup took a long time. But the second was completed in just five minutes as only amended or new files were needed.

Servers fast, customer service so so

The servers are fast (I'm using London and Ireland) and so far the service has been reliable. Having said that, I do not use their own software as this is clunky and not always stable. Instead I use rclone, an app that supports dozens of provider (I also use pCloud and GDrive with that software). See rclone.org. Their customer service is not as fast as the servers and not always answering the actual question, so it'll take a while to get things done.

IDrive isn't worth it.

I've tried idrive, but it didn't work. It kept saying preparing over and over from 7am all way to 8pm, nothing was backing up. It got so annoying, I deleted my account and started looking for a new cloud backup service.

Just awful! Stay away.

Just awful! It backs up things when you don't want, doesn't restore things you do want. UI feels 100 years old. Awful customer service. I can't see one good reason to get it. Plus, they get you in with low prices but it's just the first year. Then you feel stuck because you've spent so long uploading stuff. It's almost a scam. @Just get google drive or something else.a Reply: I've contacted support several times. Replies are slow and don't address my concerns. They link to a help article with nothing to do with my problem. It seems they don't even read my issue.

Clunky UI but seems reliable

I don't love the UI, but the service itself seems pretty decent, and a helpful sales rep pointed me to the most appropriate and cost-effective plan for my needs and helped refund part of plan that was far more than I needed. The backups seem to take place as they should--no technical problems thus far.

Good backup services for an affordable price

IDrive works very well and I could backup my current devices (Android, Windows11) successfully. In the coming days I will start using the syncing of some files with the cloud drive. I hope this also will be a positive experience at an affordable cost. Look and see, but so far so good.

Konto kan IKKE slettes

Jeg har forsøgt at slette min konto hos IDrive, hvilket ikke kan lade sig gøre :-( Punktet findes ikke mere. Det eneste man kan er: Disable autorenewal. Det er heller IKKE muligt at slette sine kontokortoplysninger. Meget, meget utrygt. Hold dig fra IDrive

I have been charged $654 in overage…

I have been charged $654 in overage fees. I had automatic renewal enabled, which allowed the charges to increase gradually over the years. The most recent overage charge was for $654. I strongly advise against using this service. Please contact me to discuss this matter further. I have email evidence to support my claims. I had deleted all my data for fear of the charges being billed me daily, these can escalate. I am hoping for a full restitution of the charged amount. I am awaiting a response from the billing department regarding these excessive charges.

They automatically charge you without your consent

Do not under any circumstances give this company money. There is a button that says 'Enable auto-renewal' - I never selected it, and yet they continued to charge my credit card. If you email them advising them of this error, they completely ignore this fact, do not respond to why they would charge without this being renewed, and they just say, you were using it. Then offer to give back a small fraction of the last charge. They have taken over $400 from me as I didn't notice they were automatically recharging my credit card. I don't have the software on my device either. If you put a button that says 'Enable auto-billing' and you don't select it, that tells me I should not be auto-billed. Also, the charges go up steeply, $52.12 in 2019, $69.50 (up $17, 33%) in 2020 and 2021, $79.50 (up $10, 14%) in 2022 and 2023. This is therefore theft.

They lie and after each year you have…

They lie and after each year you have to pay minimum 30 euros more. It was first 70 euros each year for 2 TB . Now the second year just before paying they made it 100 euros. Such a shame. I couldn't trust this company anymore and there was no guarantee. So i moved to another lifetime cloud.
