Enquired about prices for door and window over a year ago and still awaiting a response. Then I asked for prices for 2 internal doors the same as the ones I had bought from them a couple of years ago. This company told me that they were awaiting on their suppliers to respond and that was the delay. Unbeknownst to them, I contacted these suppliers and found out that they had not been contacted by Huws Gray and didn't know anything about it. Meanwhile, I've been waiting over a year now to get a job done and told continuous lies about materials. Not a trustworthy company and no customer care - they don't want your business. If you can get materials elsewhere, do so. This company are not reputable

Great service

I get all my materials from Huws Gray Doncaster branch , service is great most of my orders are handled by Pam her help and understanding when ordering is the best, and is why i keep going back for my materials , well done she’s a credit to her company

Huws Gray Ruthin

Huws Gray Ruthin - straight forward, placed order, paid money, delivered quickly, tricky lift over the fence, polite driver, bosh.

Blochairn Huws Gray

What a great company to deal with, from the start of my order till the delivery, very knowledgeable, polite, and reassuring. They kept us updated and the delivery was within a couple of days. Blochairn staff, Conor, Samuel & Bobby were amazing.

Huws Gray March branch

March branch always found them helpful. I ordered some items on Monday and they asked what day I would like the delivery, I said Wednesday would be ok he said that was fine. Its about 08:00 and I have just had the delivery from the March branch, the lorry driver was Chris who was very polite and he helped me put the boards of OSB in the garage. CF

Absolute amateurs with no customer…

Absolute amateurs with no customer service what so ever! Hired a cat line tester. Got it back, 20 mile round trip to find it wasn’t working properly and detected nothing. Took it back at around 4.30pm and collected another one. The second one worked fine, took it back at 8am the next morning but by this time I had travelled 80 miles and wasted two hours of my time and an employee who was paid for doing nothing whilst we worked out the rubbish they hired us didn’t work and swapping them over. Charged £44.04 for something that cost me £80 in time and fuel! Absolute amateurs with absolutely no customer service! Ordered 2 tins of paint in September, still heard nothing, despite leaving 4 messages chasing them!

Really helpful even though it was a small order

The Cleveleys Branch was really helpful even though it was a small order. They went the extra mile for pensioners (This review is on behalf of my retired parents). During the recent icy weather we were struggling to get some rock salt to stop pensioners slipping. My mum rang in and explained the problem, and placed order for some sand at 7:30am. By 8:30 am they had delivered it and the driver helped them spread to sand so they didn't slip. *****FANTASTIC SERVICE - REALLY APPRECIATED THANKS.*******

Too cold to shop

First ever review Stay away from Nuffield road if you want to keep your fingers!! Never have I been to a shop where it was too cold I had to leave, the poor stuff are wrapped up like eskimos! It’s barbaric! In this day and age. There is no need for an employee to treat their staff like Scrooge did in a Christmas Carol. Someone need to drag the manger out of his warm office and get them to sort the heating out. Thankfully travis Perkins had the heating on, and I’ve got my paint from there.

Great Service!

Since the renovation of my home at Ainsdale - I have had to make a number of trips to Huws Gray at Southport. They are extremely service orientated - great guys who are patient with customers like me who is not trade and sometimes do not know the proper terminology - but they are there to advise! Kudos to the Branch Manager (sorry I forgot your name) and Matthew and the team - always service with a smile! Keep up the good work!

Buildbase's website was bad, theirs is worse...

These people have taken over buildbase and the experience has been underwhelming to say the least. Their invoicing/payment system is bizarre; you can't pay for individual orders, only one big invoice at the end of the month that has every order on it for that month. The buildbase system allowed you to pay individual invoices as you went through the month which was easier to keep track of when you received customer payment for the materials. In addition, with buildbase you could select the invoice you wanted to pay and then pay online so each payment is tracked to a specific order; the Huws Gray system is to fill out an online form and do a bank transfer to their account using an invoice number as a reference number. It is just an extra pain in the backside, and too much room for error. Will be shopping around for an account elsewhere.

Friendly staff in St Helens

This review is for huwys gray in St Helens, clock face. The guys in there couldn’t have been more helpful. I’m not a tradesman, I was just looking for advice for building a chicken coop. They provided great advice and were friendly, professional and polite at all times.

Before Huws Gray we had ridgeons who…

Before Huws Gray we had ridgeons who was a good firm and competitive in pricing. We have always bought Bahco 422PN hand saws - a good saw -Huws Gray have them listed at £27.97p. Thats completely uncompetitive - price for the same saw on E Bay, Travis Perkins and from others is less than £14. If you buy them per ten that comes down to £7.90 from other suppliers. Local Huws Gray outlets are no longer busy - they need to compete - have they priced the saw up wrong? Update. 9.11.22 no response from H.Gray Update 30.11.22 - Thanks for your reply Steve, I have sent you an e Mail. We only bought one saw I have just reviewed the listing for the saw there no mention that the price is for three saws - one saw for £27.97p. The chap behind the counter at Halesworth checked the price for the saw and booked it out - he was not aware that if what you say is right that the price was for three saws- To make matters right then please arrange for Huys Gray to deliver the two extra saws to account address (I have spoken to the Halesworth Branch and they are in stock) or put a credit on my trade account. ..Dave R......... update 23.12.22. Problem now solved thanks to Josh from Hews Gray

Product I purchased from Diss branch is…

Product I purchased from Diss branch is fine but the place is full of diffident, unwelcoming people who can’t even be bothered to look up from their computer screens let alone offer any help. Literally zero interest in customers. A thankyou upon purchasing also seemed beyond them. Nearby Jewsons, Tool Station and Travis Perkins all have excellent staff who are very friendly and make everyone feel welcome. Not sure why this place doesn’t do the same but I can only presume customer service is not part of the companys’ ethos. Pretty unimpressive. To be honest I can’t stand going into this place and only do if I really have to.
