Halford takes advantage

My break light fault alarm came on my dashboard. It's a difficult time at the moment and it was an extra problem I didn't need. I saw a Halford Shop and knew they did small jobs so went in to ask if they could change the bulb. They said yes and that it would take 15 mins. I came back 15 mins later and they advised me to change all 4 bulbs, two on each sides, as it was best. I took their advice. It took a further 5 mins. It came to £48.98. I thought it was a lot but presumed the bills bulbs were expensive. They offered me a free MOT (I use my trusted garage so declined) or to take my details and give me £5 off which I took. The bill would be emailed to me so I didn't get to see it there and then. When I saw the bill I couldn't believe the costs - the bulbs were £4.99 for two, so inexpensive ... their labour was £11 PER BULB changed!! No wonder they didn't just want to change the one broken bulb, but 3 more! I know I should have asked the costs and checked, but I didn't expect Halfords to completely take advantage. Won't be using them again!

I made a complaint about halfords since…

I made a complaint about halfords since June 20th 2025 and no one has contacted me like they promised...I bought a dashcam online and arranged for it to be installed via Halford in Catford .Unfortunately the dashcam wasn't compatible with the app and I decided I would like to change dashcam.I arranged an appointment to have the dashcam taken out of my car to be returned and planned to discuss an upgrade.A minute before I arrived my appt.i was told that I cannot return dashcam because it was used.At no point was I advised about this and the manager at catford refused to discuss with me.Ive made several phone calls to customer services who assured me that matter would be Investigated and someone will in touch...no one has..I'm still waiting...as far as I'm concerned Halford is the worst company to deal with when you want query or make a complaint. When they have your money they don't care My case no. is Halfords Customer Services: 26479136 ...I've rang sent emails to no avail...this company is rotten to the core. I will be submitting notes everyday until something is sorted..I will not stop

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years…

I bought a Apollo slant about 3 years ago from the edge lane Liverpool Halfords on the ride to work system the person who sold me the bike told me while the bike was being built it’s a bit of a crap bike as it is one of the cheaper models 🤔 they have and was trying to dupe me into buying a seven hundred to a thousand pound bike so he’d get more commission 🤨 on the sale lucky I know sales tactics he also told me I wouldn’t go on any big rides because it was such a rubbish bike 😒 funny that as I ride most weekends the furthest I’ve been from Liverpool upto now on my cheap bike Delamere forest all round Chester and wales not bad for a crap bike 😃 anyway finally the back wheel started grinding as I know a bit of bike maintenance myself it turned out to be the ball bearings in the spindle so called Halfords to see if they have my wheel in stock and was told yes thought great stuff got to the Halfords on edge lane asked about the wheel got told oh no we don’t stock that we do for the expensive bikes but not yours then got told try Quinn’s down the road they sent me to the competitor also by the way they don’t do the wheel I need😞 so had to rely on Amazon to save the day got the wheel I needed fitted it I’m back on the road again 😁 how can a bike shop sell you a bike but not have the parts in stock to fix it ridiculous practice whatever happened to the customer is always right if I what an expensive bike I’ll buy one not get sales bullied into it Halfords you need to send your staff on a training course to learn not to bully customers into buying bike they don’t want or need also learn them to offer advice in a better manner I was very disappointed in the Halfords experience this much 😞🤨🧐😔☹️😟😕😠🤔

Robbie… great customer service…Burnley

We went into Burnley Halford’s to get my 3 children sized up for new bikes. We dealt with Robbie, he was very knowledgeable and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble, he made various alterations to all the bikes the children tried. He was very patient and kind as we didn’t know much about bikes. The children were allowed to have a ride on each of them to try out. He spent a lot of time with us ensuring we were safe and happy with everything. 5 star customer service. Hope the bikes are too when they arrive.

Great experience and excellent service

My experience at the Brighton Lewes Rd branch was great, in particular with Matt, who was extreme helpful and provided excellent service when fitting new parts for my car. He was so helpful and happy to explain the process to me and to answer all of my questions with expert knowledge. Thank you Matt.

Still shambolic

My e-bike has now been back to Halfords for a second repair the same fault as before, first one beginning of April had to wait till the end of April before I got it back, only had it for four days and it broke down again withe same fault. Took the bike back to the shop on the 4th may they said it would be ready by the 13th, it’s now the 24th and still no contact from them,as I said in my last review the it’s shambolic how this company works and treats its customers, never again will I buy from Halfords again

I would give zero stars if I could

I would give zero stars if I could. Booked an MOT at the Sidcup garage, arrived 4 minutes late to be told they will no longer do it and they have already refunded me. When I checked my email they had refunded me 2 minutes after my appointment time. Not sure that 2-4 minutes would have any impact on a job that takes almost 2 hours, they clearly did not want to do it as I booked the evening before for the following afternoon and were looking for an excuse not to do the job, they made no attempt to call me at any point.

FREDI from Bournemouth Halfords store was very helpful, taking the time to check all of my car’s bulbs and get the ones I needed from the store. He also explained how to fit them as well. Really great service and great guy. Thank you.

Customer service was 100%

Customer service was 100%. We had an unexpected puncture pretty much right outside the garage. The lad who helped us was running about mad doing work but made the time to repair our tyre as we had an emergency and needed the car. He informed us about other tyres should we need replacements in the future, which we will now do in the coming weeks. Very helpful and good natured. Will defo come back to this branch in Duddingston Edinburgh. I think the lads name was James.

Just popped into Guiseley Halfords as…

Just popped into Guiseley Halfords as Bradford failed to fix my son’s bike (that shop needs closing). David greeted me and invited me to bring the bike in and fixed everything! He was brilliant so highly recommend Guiseley for bike repair and purchases and they’re lucky to have David working there. Will definitely use this store again thanks to the wonderful customer service

A further update on my missing online…

A further update on my missing online order. I chatted to an online chat bot who put me through to an agent who told me my tracking number couldn’t be found? So she passed my mobile number and query onto customer service team who will contact me within 48 hours. It’s been over 48 hours and still no call. I have no option but to call their customer service number tomorrow instead of them calling me so I will be charged for a call which is their fault for not delivering the goods I have paid for. If I get nowhere with this then my next step is to report to Trading Standards

Reasonable selection and pricing, but weary of some issues with order accuracy

A wide range of products at generally competitive prices. The online ordering process is straightforward and stock availability is usually good. However, there can be some recurring issues with in-store collections as items received do not always match what was ordered, I’ve had cheaper alternatives snuck in more than once, so do check all items before leaving the store. This review does not cover Halfords’ garage services, which are a separate matter all together. Overall, a functional retail experience regardless.
