EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

Avoid at all costs

Arrogant, useless & stay-clear of kind, of company. I got EWT sofener installed 6years ago & every year they charge a fortune & come for leisure checking if it's working well. Last week the softener broke down as the resin has failed (despite regular inspections whose report never issued to you) and all my water pipes are clogged despite switching it off. Now the fun starts as they can't seem to find an emergency appointment to fix it. Unbelievable that their call centre are not allowed to book appointment. And unsurprisingly their engineers cancel the emergency appointment at leisure. Good luck if you still decide to go with them.

Does EWT still exists

Does EWT still exists? All my emails to them returned undelivered FATAL ERROR "ACCESS DENIED" . I have had EWT system, installed some 6 years ago, and their 100% Limescale FREE is not what I have experienced. I have repeatedly complained to David Fordes, but no resolution to even replace the equipment. Giving 0 STAR, but can't rate below 1 STAR. Just Got reply today below: Care Fri, 14 Jun at 12:02 Hi Mahamud, Your softener is a very old model and was installed in 2017 therefore it is 7 years old. When a softener is 7 years old we would recommend upgrading. Would you like us to quote for this? Thanks, EWT

Excellent Service

I have always had very good experience dealing with EWT. We had ordered water softener from EWT. We had an issue where the stop cock was not under the sink. The engineer who had come to fit the softener ((Atila) found a solution and installed without any problems. He was very patient and did a very good job. I had to also call up customer service to book and settle the invoice and the customer service agent (Steph) was very good at resolving the case. Many thanks🀩

Wish I had read these negative reviews before...

Wish I had read all these negative reviews before I purchased a water filtration system from EWT as I would have avoid a lot of stress. My filtration system started leaking just before completing 1 year and I realise now I only got it sorted fast (I thought!) because it was due to get serviced, so after I paid, I got a visit. However, the system continues to leak and it's been over two months now with no filtered water and no assistance from them despite multiple calls. Very frustrating and unfair, don't recommend to anyone.

Utterly inadequate post sale customer care

I have exchanged 21 emails with ewt since 11/23, who have mislead, and frankly lied to me when ordering 3 cartridges for my ewt water filter system. I still have no cartridges, despite having submitted a formal complaint only to get no response, which is against the law.They are horrible to deal with. Don't even think about installing their water softener it is more trouble than it's worth.
