EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

Appalling service and difficult to get hold of

Water softener still excellent and does a great job but every year have problems in getting my annual service appointment which gets put further and further back each year so I am paying much more and don't get refunded for these excess months' payments. This year it has taken over 6 months to get my annual service booked and I am still awaiting the refund of excess premiums. When I call, the line cuts off at just over 4 minutes and on the odd occasion that I manage to speak to someone they promise that somebody from the accounts team will call back within 24 hours and they never do. What a shambles, sort yourselves out EWT

Those guys are the worst in Ireland I…

Those guys are the worst in Ireland I would say! Impossible to get true to them. If you do you get nowhere. Only promises no action. I’m trying to get them to come out for last 4 weeks keep changing the dates keep telling the lies… so many people o know have many problems with them I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy…

Dreadful service and extremely…

Dreadful service and extremely expensive This company has been recently been bought by another firm and rebranded- they have also increased their prices by almost 50%. I paid €180 for a water filter replacement and a five minute check to be carried out - I pay half that amount to get my boiler serviced - even getting my car serviced is less expensive than that. What a complete rip off !!!! It also took over a month to get an appointment for a service. Go elsewhere if you live in a hard water area and are thinking of buying a water softener!

If I could give ZERO stars I would...... AVOID!

I ordered my service on 10th May and at the time I was advised 2 weeks approx wait time. 3.5 weeks later I had no update; I live in an area which has extremely hard water and I got this installed particularly because of underfloor heating and to protect my appliances. I spoke to Customer Care 31 May and was advised I would hear back at least by end of next working day - I gave them 2 additional working days before I emailed with photos of my appliances full of lime. In this email I was advised by Care Team that the service is still working and it isn't a problem - perhaps they should have checked that first as the salt was not going down - then they told me to add warm water and break it up with a brush - that does not work... this was 7th June - still no appointment date or communication. Whatever is going on in EWT needs to be addressed as you will not have any more customers if this is what you do and how you address "customer care", no follow up, no updates - no ability to even manage expectations if there are issues that are causing your delays. I will be looking at alternatives to EWT and I am going to encourage others where possible to AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Any positive reviews for this company must be FAKE. At every point they are awful. its hard enough getting in contact with anyone, Prices are ridiculous and went up 57% form last years service. I have credit on my account which i cant use. They can't even confirm water is safe to drink!!! avoid use another company please

An absolutely appalling company. Their communication is despicable. Their promises mean nothing. I have cancelled my standing order to them as have never done what they promised. Please go elsewhere if you want a water softener

Amateurs and awful customer care

absolutely avoid!!!! Customer care is a disaster! Difficult to contact and never returns calls I made a mistake of buying a drinking water softening system from EWT few years ago, it needs servicing and replacing cartridges yearly. You are asked to pay in advance £165 and then an automated system alerts you when the engineer is booked. This is where problems start, they give an approximate time which means you have to be at home at least half a day, unfortunately you then get a last minute cancellation “due to problems to the engineer’s van”… every year !!! Try and get in touch with the company but it’s impossible I’m now going to invest on a new system but this time I’ll thoroughly research and review in advance

Paid for a service of my softener and…

Paid for a service of my softener and too nearly 9 weeks before it was done. Flooded the downstairs of my house that night and through many emails, call back requests etc nobody has been in contact over the last 10 weeks, even to acknowledge an email received. Only way to speak is to phone the Dublin office. Asked for supervisor Ryan to call me back and received a very blunt email that they had explained the situation when I contacted yesterday to say technician out and they have pulled strings to get a sister company out next week, can’t do more than that,18 weeks after I paid for my service! Technician came and had never seen softener before, left without doing anything. Avoid this company at all costs!!!

Home Drinking Water System

I reached to to EWT Water with questions about their water softener and drinking system and the support was excellent. I kept going back with more questions and points for clarification and Abbie, the support agent who attended to me was very patient and detailed helping me decide exactly what I needed for my home without any unnecessary add-ons.
