EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

EWT, Highly Recommended.

I would highly recommend EWT water softener system, we have, or have had a Iot of lime in the water prior to installing the EWT water system. The system will prevent having to replace all the water pipes in the home, saving a lot of stress and money. I am very satisfied with EWT products and services. The unit is serviced once a year by very professional friendly staff.

Update on my review dated 24/9 titled “I wish their customer service was as reliable as their direct debit” + 2 weeks since my last review, here’s what’s happened….. * text to office … no reply * text to office … no reply * call to office …. 2 hour wait before line went dead * text received saying engineer was on his way- as there was no appointment we had no one at home * call from engineer - he was at my house, I was in wales. Tell me your coming and I’ll be there. If you just rock up out of the blue I will be out at work. * text from EWT saying no appointments in my area for upto 45 days I’ve tried to leave a review on their own website but it won’t let me. Strange because it let’s all the people who give it a high score leave reviews …. 🤔 I will update regularly here until I get an agreed appointment or a refund for the monies EWT have taken from my account. Worst company I’ve ever dealt with … to be continued ….

This would have been a five-star…

This would have been a five-star review. It's their communications that let EWT down. I did manage to get through on my first attempt at calling EWT. I wanted to speak to someone again, but the line didn't answer. The ordering and booking were fine, everything was done via their online system. I got an email confirmation. The engineer arrived exactly on time. He was extremely polite and explained everything. The installation was perfect, the quality of the materials and the filter itself are outstanding. Everything was tidied up after he finished. I paid a £1 deposit and the balance upon completion. I tested my water hardness before installation and it was over 400 PPM. Since installation it's gradually going down and is now around 180 PPM. There is a noticeable difference to the feel when using shampoo and soap. The problem I have with EWT is something they could easily resolve. They rarely answer the telephone. It's pointless leaving a message because nobody responds. When they do answer they're great, really efficient, and answer your query straight away. The App doesn't appear to do much. I placed a salt order through it, it takes the order but it doesn't show that you have an order in the system, no text, no confirmation. When I looked at the App, there was no order showing. Since I've had the salt delivered the order shows in the App order history. It doesn't show my actual water softener history or installation details though. When my salt didn't turn up after a few weeks I called (several times) to be told that the engineer had tried to call me on my landline and got no answer, so didn't want to arrive when I may not have been there. Subsequently, I received a text advising that I had a salt delivery coming. Hopefully, they can sort themselves out and start earning five-star reviews.

Endless problems and no customer service

Softener installed approx 2016. It has worked intermittently since, but most years we've had soft water for a few months. Since June 2020 it hasn't worked, despite engineer visits as part of the paid for maintenance plan. Engineer visits improved things for a while but also caused problems - flooded kitchen during a 2am cleaning cycle due to non-secured hose (we were compensated), leaks/overflows, kinked hose preventing the cleaning cycle, alleged setting errors from previous visits. We have now had pretty much permanent hard water for over a year. When you ring, all they offer is another engineer visit - the last visit (June 2021, following a visit in May) identifed the system had been connected incorrectly, which was the cause of the problems - he took photos and promised a follow-up phone call from the boss. He allegedly re-connected it correctly. Miraculously we had soft water for a day but then hard water from then on. I rang to complain yet again and asked to be put through to a manager, but was told that wasn't possible and a phone number wasn't available - my complaint would be forwarded in an internal email. As instructed I put everything in an email to the care dept - no response, not even an acknowledgement. I then discovered I had an email address for one of the managers, so sent a strongly worded email of complaint (8 July) - no response again. Customer service is a shambles and the company clearly don't value customers. I have paid for the regular service plan and have clearly wasted my money on both the plan and the softener. Perhaps my next step will be legal action.

My 6 month filter change which was due…

My 6 month filter change which was due in July and has not been done. I have been trying to contact EWT but have not been able to get through by phone and my email remains unanswered. I have received a couple of text messages from EWT and responded as requested but there's been no follow-up to arrange an appointment.

I rang the office in relation to a salt…

I rang the office in relation to a salt order received which coincided with my service (which meant i would be receiving a double delivery of salt). I spoke to Nicole in the office who resolved my issue and was extremely helpful - I could not have been more satisfied with the service..

Excellent installation…

Excellent installation overall,punctual and professional service.All questions asked were answered in a clear intelligent manner.The gentleman wasfriendly and informative,more businesses could benefit from employing staff like him.All work was carried out in a neat and tidy way,and the area of installation was left perfect.I would highly recommend EWT to anyone intending to use a water softner and filtered system in the future,they are head and shoulders above other companies that I had dealings with in the past.The response to the initial phone call when I was enquiring about the service was also answered quickly and the communication was excellent,this was not the case with another company which I had tried to contact earlier.Many Thanks to EWT,keep up the good work and continue employing such staff that are very important to making a business successful .

Hi I have been EWT customer for over 5…

Hi I have been EWT customer for over 5 years and I have had no problems with them, the engineers are extremely polite helpful and they also bring the salt bags from their vehicle and places them where I have asked them to do so. They carry out a thorough service and also ensure that the drinking tap is drinkable. I have no problems recommending the company grows from strength to strength.
