EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

After 10 months

After 10 months, it stopped (limescale back). I e-mail EWT a couple of times, nothing was done. Then, I rang them to book the annual service and two days later the guy was there (of course120£). The technician says everything is great. A few days later, still limescale everywhere. I have decided to take a look and no water going through.

i signed up for the ireland ewt stay well away the never showed up bad customer service then new date they no show again there just sales and no service company save your money and they still didn't refund my booking deposit

I would not recommend getting involved with this company

I got a filter put in over 2 months ago, I paid the euro booking fee and went ahead but when the day came for the install I had a work emergency so I couldn't be there for the install as I had planned, the engineer who put in the device told my wife nothing about it, he said he would call me and advise how to use it, this never happened. To date I have not paid any more money, I have called them 2 or 3 times and even more over email, requesting that somebody send me instructions or tell me how this works and have received nothing only threats about not paying for this, I may also add that they installed a different tap than I had picked and I believe the unit to be faulty as the led display does not work or maybe that's how it should be! I wuldnt know. All I know is I have not added salt since getting it in as i dont know how so all this experience has done for me is to lose a press in kitchen which has this pile of useless plastic in it now.

Needed the drinking tap sorted

Needed the drinking tap sorted, slight problem. Was easy to book, no quibble. Engineer arrived on time, very polite and professional. changed the tap, cleaned up and left. All safe. All done. Again, excellent service from EWT. Have used them for the last 5 years since they installed my new water softener and drinking tap. Would not use anyone else now. All prices are very good as well compared to other companies.

Ordered the 606 system with G1 tap and…

Ordered the 606 system with G1 tap and filter. Ordering was very simple. No payment until install which was great! The price was great to begin with and with the current offer I've got some credits in my account too for future purchases! Throughout the order period I was kept up to date with regular emails and text messages. Confirmation of my appt only came the night before to say my engineer would arrive between 8-10am the next day, which might have been a problem for some people (the late notice) but given the lockdown situation it wasn't a problem and understandable that things are perhaps happening at short notice. Our engineer Alex was excellent. Very friendly, explained the system fully and helped us with what ended up being a slightly awkward install. He also gave me some tips around a tap I was having trouble with! As for the system, its been a few months and the water quality is much better. And I can see why the ratings for this company are so high from a customer service perspective.

New Installation Refund

I ordered a new installation on the 3rd April '21, where I went on online finance for monies to paid on three instalments.You were meant take the first installation sometime in July '21, but you have already applied my card for the first payment to be taken of £257.66. I have tried calling you virtually everyday now, but no answer or an email,as I seem to just receive a computer generated email on my junk folder. I am worried that whether I seemed to have lost my money now.Please refund me in full, to let me know of how I can be in touch with you or email to me to have the monies refunded, since I now seemed have lost confidence in your business.

Terrible customer service.

Please note, this is for the ROI branch of this company only. I'm not speaking for UK service but I couldn't find a separate link for EWT Ireland and this needs to be addressed. Customer service is deplorable! 3 email addresses, several emails, phone calls & texts sent over a period of 3 weeks, no response. We receive constant texts "claim your €50 credit" etc. and they're always touting for new business but existing customers are forgotten/ignored. Once again I have to resort to social media to try to elicit some kind of response. Really nowhere near good enough. This is not a once off, I have the same trouble each time I try to contact them for service. I'm at the point now of returning the whole system and seeking a company who are actually professional in their business to install a new one. Companies who treat customers like this should not be allowed to do so.

No refund!!It would have been 5 stars

It would have been 5 stars. The water softener is great and the installation went well. However the after sales service has been unbelievably terrible!! There was a tech issue where I tried to pay by splitit and the payment hung and had to be reprocessed. I ended up paying twice. That was over a month ago. Four emails have been ignored, can’t get through on the phone, ignoring us on Twitter. Holding on to nearly £800 of my money is not the perfect customer experience..!!!! Please give me my money back and stop ignoring me!!

Not sure if they have gone bust or not

Not sure if they have gone bust or if the company just don't respond to emails and phone calls. I need some salt and a new filter and as service. I think I have sent around a dozen emails, I used their text service response around 10 times, and I left a message on the only number that now works on their website. There is no point in emailing care at ewt water dot com.
