EWT system contaminated my water supplybought a water filter system in 2015…

We bought a water filter system in 2015 from EWT. In the last two months we have had problems with our dishwasher water inlet filters becoming blocked with a resin paste. Quite worrying because this is the same water as coming out of our taps to use. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out this resin paste was in fact resin balls leaking from EWT's water softener system. We had the system annually serviced by EWT so not happy that we have been using water contaminated with these resin balls. I have been asking EWT for a service for a number of weeks and still awaiting a response. I tried to remove the softener system from our water supply to find out that no isolation taps were fitted when it was installed.

Not Recommended – EWT is no longer what it used to be My last review of EWT was positive – I wrote it about 8 years ago when many of my neighbours were installing water softeners from this company. The first few years of use were absolutely fine. We were told that an annual service would keep our lifetime guarantee active. Although the service price increased year after year, it still felt like a good deal. Two years ago, I had my first issue with the filter. A technician came out and repaired it without any problem or charge. Unfortunately, in January of this year, the filter started leaking those small resin beads into the system again. This time, I was told the warranty only covers labour, not parts, so I had to pay for the repair. At the same time, several of my neighbours also began to complain about EWT’s customer service. I learned that the company had changed ownership – and ever since, it seems like they only care about making money rather than honouring their original commitments. It’s a real shame that such a good company with excellent service in the past has gone downhill like this. Never again.

Very disappointing customer service

Very disappointing customer service. I was instructed to contact them via the email address provided, which I did. However, it has been 48 hours, and I’ve received no response whatsoever. This level of service is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company.

Matthew....an excellent service engineer.

Matthew, (service engineer) serviced our unit in March 2025. We have no hesitation, whatsoever, in recommending him. His courteous manner in answering our relevant queries was excellent. A very satisfied customer ....will definitely ask him to service our unit again.

Mis-sold product

I bought their (EWT) water softner last year. I was told that time, I need to replace water filter every year, and it would cost around £30, and there are no additional service is needed for it. This year, on expiry of 12 month, when I try to find the filter from EWT Water, they are telling there is no direct option to buy water filter. I need to take maintenance service, which would cost me £132. When I asked them, that I need only water filter, nothing else, they ultimate given me option to get it, and it would cost me £80. Where outside it is £30, they don't bother to keep promises. They mis-sold the water softner, by telling no other charge is needed to continue their product, but that's not the case. I am totally frustrated, and when I asked them to take product, and give me the money refund, their customer service is telling, there is no option to return. It is totally dissatisfied service. And I will urge people not to get trapped from EWT Water.

Not a great customer service.

Don't want to write a negative review but have to do so - first time due to the bad experience I have had with EWT. From other reviews on this site, it's seems its a common theme / same experience with other people as well. 1. EWT installation caused damage to kitchen units. 2. After EWT engineer visits, an agreement was made on compensation (repair costs based on quotes received) including 3 years service + salt with Ryan. Was informed that he'll put notes on his system so that even he is not there, it will be done without any issues. 3. when contacted initially, was informed that it will start from next year. When contacted after a year, after chasing a few times, provided 5 bags of salt to cover the whole one year. 5 bags would normally last for 4 months. 4. Have been trying to get in touch with EWT's Ryan (who I can see is responding here) via emails and phone calls but no response whatsoever. Very poor customer service - can't imagine / expect this from a UK company.

Very easy to make appointment for service and communication form them very informative. Engineer arrived on time very polite and and carried out work very efficiently. Gave clear explanation of all the work he had done.

Couldn't be happier

Couldn't be happier with my new water softener. Easy to order and Vlad done the installation for us. He was, quick friendly and informative. We even got a new tap for filtered drinking water too which looks like part of the sink. Highly recommended

Good softner but very bad service

I would rate as below - Water softener – 4/5 Installation – 0/5 Service – 0/5 Website – 3.5/5 App – 0/5 Purchase experience - After reading so many good reviews, we decided to buy their softener. One of my friends referred me through App but I didn’t get £50 referral credit, called the customer service and they gave the credit but my friend who referred me didn’t got same. 3 months on and he is still waiting. Installation experience – On installation day, I asked engineer to let us know if he need anything, he said let him check and will inform if need anything , I specially asked if he wanted us to move the adjacent washing machine but he said no that’s not required and we left him to do the job, and he installed it on the corner where it is hardly reachable and also installed the water dispenser at wrong position without even asking us. + broke one of our kitchen unit’s panels. Now we have very tough time refilling salt as it is not easily reachable. just after 2-month, softener stopped working and we had no clue, we checked everything like salt, timer setting, power etc but couldn’t get it working, tried to book service call back through App and got confirmation message that someone will in touch but that never happened. Tried reaching support but couldn’t get through. Finally spoke to one of our friends who is also using same model, he suggested it might be regeneration is not working and we manually forced the regeneration and fortunately it worked. It’s been 1 month and its still working. Water quality is also good. They really need to improve the customer service!

Had the water softener and drinking tap…

Had the water softener and drinking tap installed worked great for about a year until thousands of silicon beads leaked out of the softener and went to each tap, the hot water tank and toilet blocking all the pipes in the house after getting a plumber to fix all of this it happened again some years later essentially ruining the water pressure throughout the house and the only way we can get this to work now is to completely disconnect the water softener and now there is pressure in the house is back to normal. I wish I hadn’t come across this product it’s been nothing but pain and problems. Would never recommend this softener to anybody or the company

His personality is so pleasing and kind, always saying thank. He keeps you informed of everything he is going to do. He answers all your concerns. He is happy to adjust fittings to suit the customer.
