Terrible company, shocking communication
Our experience with Conveyancing Direct was a total letdown. It felt like we were completely in the dark, especially as first-time buyers, thanks to their lousy communication. Going through the complaints process, we were constantly brushed off, pretty much putting all of the blame on us for not magically understanding a process we hired them to guide us through. One of the most frustrating things was receving all of the crucial documents we needed, including the fixture and fittings form, DAYS before exchanging. Most of these documents were dated four months prior to this but apparently that's completely normal to be unaware of the details of the house you are buying until it's too late? I know solicitors are typically slow and require you to chase a lot, but when the company are failing to reply to complaints within their own 'prescribed time frame', you know something is wrong. And when they eventually did, they managed to send it to the wrong email addresses entirely - superb attention to detail. If you are purchasing through Connells and have been connected to this company, don't do it. Just Google a well-reviewed local solicitors and use them. Our sellers were also using Conveyancing Direct and we thought it would make the whole process smoother, but I don't think they were handled by the same office, let alone the same team/person. And if they were, I have absolutely no idea how they can manage it so poorly as the reason we were forced to exchange so quickly at the end of the process was due to how frustrated the seller was with them too. There's plenty more we could mention, but in short: avoid them at all costs. The endless bad reviews speak for themselves.

If I could give a 10* rating I would. I was in a predicament at the start of the year. I had instructed another solicitors in November 2024. However, by the start of January 2025, nothing had been done with my file, despite chasing via email and calls. I needed to change and thank god I changed over to Conveyancing Direct. Now I don’t know whether this was fate because of my experience up until this point, but I was allocated Tom McLaren-Roberts. Wow! What an experience and journey this has been since January. I can’t speak highly enough of this man and how professional he has been. He has redeemed my faith in the process. Attention to detail, advice, guidance, support, Tom has been truly been there for me every step of the way. But the thing that I liked most about Tom was his responsiveness. Regular calls and emails updates - really showing you that things were moving in the right direction. If you are looking to buy or sell a property. Then ask for Tom to be allocated to you.

Horrendous Service
Horrendous Service Stacey was working on behalf of my property buyer and had no desire to complete the transactions in the 13 months she had the case. Ignored most communication from the buyer, estate agent and my solicitor, gave false updates and demonstrated a clear lack of knowledge, ability and professionalism throughout. If you DON'T want your property transaction to go through then that is the only time I would suggest considering this company

Would not recommend this firm. They were really difficult to get in contact with throughout, I was transferred between 3 different lawyers, and the sale took over 7 months. The sale was nearly lost due to delays and lack of communication from the lawyers.

If no stars was an option then I would…
If no stars was an option then I would give it. I struggle to understand why William H Brown via Sequencing Direct recommend using this firm, which they did to both us as sellers and the buyers. To be fair our solicitor (Magda) was not bad in the end and became more proactive and communicative/ helpful but this took frequent communication from me. The buyer’s conveyancer/ solicitor working for the same firm (Paul Baldwin-Jones) was terrible and almost lost us our house sale. He seemed to specialise in being uncontactable, patchy and inaccurate communication and incompetence in managing the process . We were lied to, mislead and kept uninformed. Both parties had to resubmit documentation that was mislaid and despite us constantly checking that everything was in place, requests for further information kept coming and the process was delayed creating stress and extra costs. Gross incompetence/ negligence and unprofessionalism making a straightforward process complex and painful, would be my summary. The website claim “Conveyancing Direct seek to facilitate property sales and purchases with the provision of a professional service which recognises that moving home can be a confusing and stressful event that should be as transparent and brief as possible.” is quite frankly laughable. This company made the process feel like wading through treacle: it was made more complex; there was a complete lack of clarity and the process was drawn out significantly due to lack of communication and unresponsiveness. Lack of professionalism at best, gross incompetence at worst. I have already submitted a Feefo review for Sequence but am reposting here as I notice the number of reviews on here echoing very similar experiences. I would not usually mention names but it appears that peoples' experiences seem to differ greatly dependant on who was handling their case from the other reviews.
