Excellent service

Regular, informed and timely updates on progress of both our sale and purchase. Excellent support and accessibility provided by our conveyancing solicitor Tom Mclaren-Roberts.

Terrible company, shocking communication

Our experience with Conveyancing Direct was a total letdown. It felt like we were completely in the dark, especially as first-time buyers, thanks to their lousy communication. Going through the complaints process, we were constantly brushed off, pretty much putting all of the blame on us for not magically understanding a process we hired them to guide us through. One of the most frustrating things was receving all of the crucial documents we needed, including the fixture and fittings form, DAYS before exchanging. Most of these documents were dated four months prior to this but apparently that's completely normal to be unaware of the details of the house you are buying until it's too late? I know solicitors are typically slow and require you to chase a lot, but when the company are failing to reply to complaints within their own 'prescribed time frame', you know something is wrong. And when they eventually did, they managed to send it to the wrong email addresses entirely - superb attention to detail. If you are purchasing through Connells and have been connected to this company, don't do it. Just Google a well-reviewed local solicitors and use them. Our sellers were also using Conveyancing Direct and we thought it would make the whole process smoother, but I don't think they were handled by the same office, let alone the same team/person. And if they were, I have absolutely no idea how they can manage it so poorly as the reason we were forced to exchange so quickly at the end of the process was due to how frustrated the seller was with them too. There's plenty more we could mention, but in short: avoid them at all costs. The endless bad reviews speak for themselves.

Avoid at all cost!!

Avoid at all cost!!! Leanne guy is the worst person to be a conveyancing Lawer, not fit for the job. No communication at all took 20 weeks to completion where Martin tolhurst’s timeframe is 8-10 weeks. I regret coming to this company, should have gone to Martin tolhurst cos we know they are good and have used them before. Very professional and quick to respond.

An absolute disaster from start to finish

An absolute disaster from start to finish. Solicitor made error after error and had to be corrected at every step along the way. The house sale was delayed by at least 2 months due to their incompetency and lack of communication. They also overcharged me at the end but I didn't dare to complain because I just wanted to get the sale through. Solicitor also went on a 3 week holiday without telling anyone and despite many promises nobody picked up the case in the meantime. Just shockingly bad throughout. I'm not one to write online reviews but this has caused me so much stress that I feel obliged to let others know

What updates? What communication?

Like numerous people on here, communication and service was pretty appalling. We are first time home buyers and we were naive on our part to go with the Connells recommendation rather than researching for our own solicitor. Our solicitor was Rhian, and though kind on the phone, she was hard to phone and never updated us until we started asking ourselves and emails were few and far between. It wasn’t until on our original closing date that she told me she was required to tell our lenders that the sellers were there for less than 6 months and needed to see if they’d still be happy to proceed with the purchase. Couldn’t that have been something to tell the lenders weeks BEFORE the date we wanted to close on?! I expressed my concerns and wanted to know on what day could we close and instead of giving a measured date, she just told me to be assured that we would have plenty of time to close. How does she know our situation? For all she knew we could have been homeless just because our rent went out while waiting for this house to go through! Luckily that wasn’t our case, but that easily could have been anyone’s! The only reassurance we got through this process was knowing that so many others had the same crap experiences with them once we saw the reviews eventually. I gave two stars because fortunately for us, we were delayed 2 weeks which isn’t bad and she finally started being slightly more communicative in the last week of this process. If you want regular updates, explanations on a process that’s already confusing to first time home buyers, and don’t want to do all the chasing up, GO ELSEWHERE

Red Noses and Unicycles

I had an offer accepted on a block of 3 flats in my home town and I instructed this lot after the estate agent recommended them on 06th June 2023 and was promised the conveyance would not take long. I was appointed one of their solicitors Emma Hopkinson. The incompetence is staggering!! I submitted all correspondence as soon requested, and then would not hear a peep, until I had to prompt them. Every email I sent would take an inordinate time for them to answer. I have finally sacked them off any gone to my local solicitor, who laughed aloud when I forwarded the email trail to him. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS LOT. RED NOSES, UNICYCLES AND SQUIRTY ROSE BUTTON HOLES.

Thanks Rebekka

We initially seemed to be assigned a new conveyancer every other week which was concerning. This being said we were eventually assigned Rebekka Davies whom ade the whole process easy and understandable, answering all my (sometimes daft) questions and not flinching at my occasional grumpiness. The whole process was so much more bearable and we can not recommend Rebekka enough.

I am happy to say that my case handler Delyth Thomas was a pleasure to deal with. She communicated with me throughout and was very diligent and always very pleasant to speak with. I am satisfied my sale went through as quickly as was possible.

AVOID.DISGRACEFUL SERVICE.

Where to start? This company refuse at any point to give you a rough completion date, when asked they repeatedly extend the time scale or refuse to commit. Apparently this is "normal" behaviour for a solicitor. But at 52 this is the first solicitor I've dealt with who's had this problem Phonecalls and emails are consistently ignored or the phone is left to ring out. Letters are repeatedly sent out minus enclosures. Legal documents (TR1) sent out in an incorrect format and when questioned, asked why I want to hold the shares of the property in a particular way, which I've done consistently over the years with other solicitors, without issue. I was then told it was "not normal" and asked why I can't afford a property on my own.!!! When complaints are made, it's questioned "if you really want to move" Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. Will be referring to the Legal ombudsman
