AVOID COLLINGWOOD AT ALL COSTS! Take into consideration all negative reviews and don’t overlook it like I did!!! Before purchasing I called them to double check everything and was mislead over the phone, which made me go for the worse option. I misunderstood the fine prints because they were not clearly written, and are also misleading. Not to mention the spelling mistakes over the emails exchanged. I purchased learner insurance for a set amount of months, passed my driving test before the policy ended and they are refusing to refund the money for the months I will not use the learner insurance (which I have no option but to cancel). I’ve lost £160. They are claiming I never spoke to one of their agents which is a lie. Why would I have bought a policy over others without having spoken to anyone? Do not recommend them in the slightest! Go for reputable insurance companies instead, cheap becomes costly and it’s not worth it! Regardless of policy you go for its clear that you will be at loss!

Don’t use this company there are hidden fees, £40.00 cancellation which you have no option to pay if you pass your test, total rip off.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! had the policy less 30 days, son passed his test and have been told that despite the policy annual cost was £209, he HAS to pay £175 due to all their cancellation costs. So we have paid 2 x £30.76 costs, then another £40 cancellation because they DON'T insure full drivers, then another £50 administration charge! What a joke and scam of a company and will be reported to insurance ombudsman and to trading standards.

DO NOT USE - All learner drivers go on to pass their driving test (or I assume most). This company forces you to cancel the policy when passing and then charges you £40 for the pleasure. This wasn’t shared in my original documentation or emails. Now that my son has passed his test, I also no longer have access to the account—most likely because they know this is a con. I would really avoid this company. The person on the phone I just complained to couldn't have cared less, and from her answers, I guess she spends all day defending this £40 charge.

If I could give zero stars I would do. I do not recommend this company at all. We took out provisonal insurance for my daughter last year. On the small print it stated that we do not need to inform them when my daughter passed her test as the insurance would automatically cancel. She passed 6 months later. Now she is being hounded by Collingwood and threatened as she failed to inform them she passed and she is being chased for £40 admin charge!!! (Another way to rip young drivers off) She tried to call them but no one would pick up the phone and the website is useless and had to use email instead. We are seeking advice about this as they wont leave her alone. But please dont use Collingwood, they are shocking. Anyone else having same issues - see google reviews there are plenty, go to Financial Ombudsman. This company needs shutting down.

Initially the company was fine. What isn’t fine in the absolute horrendous communication between the service and the user. I passed within 3-4 months of purchasing insurance off Collingwood, and when I emailed them to cancel, all I received back as an advert for full insurance. They put my account on hold so I couldn’t log in to see any of my documents, (which they proudly state in their review responses, that the documents are accessible and contain all information needed. (They aren’t and they don’t)). As well as this, none of my questions were answered. I chose to follow up and email them about cancellation fees as absolutely nothing was followed up to me. Monday afternoon I receive a email stating that a charge of £114 was attempted to be taken from my account. No warning, no email back with the answers to my questions. They didn’t even tell me where I could find even the slightest bit of cancellation fee information. Now, I read the terms and conditions before I purchased from the company, and I understood that the quicker I cancel, the more I’d be charged from my premium when I cancel, on top of a £40 cancellation fee everyone has to pay. Although I find it a bit ridiculous to charge people for 12 months of learners insurance and then somehow expect them to pass their test on the exact date the insurance finishes, and charge people loads of money for cancelling before the renewal (WITH NO WARNING!!!!!) I am no fool. What I do not understand is the blatant cheek of knowingly charging people loads of money, with absolutely no warning of when and how much. And on top of that, not answering any questions relevant to the topic? I wouldn’t recommend, or purchase again.
