2nd year tutor has been incredible

Sandra our tutor for year 2 has been so supportive and helpful and brings passion and knowledge in abundance. She shares so much and her feedback is thorough and thoughtful and so helpful. She's been amazing and I'm excited to continue the second half of the year and progress onto year three. Thank you so much to the staff behind the scenes and placements team too for always being ready to answer queries and help where they can.

Great experience …

I have found crystals to be great training Especially silly with Melanie Phelps, great teacher

Chrysalis/tutor

I have been with chrysalis for 2.5 yrs, my 1st year was enjoyable, with a great tutor, my 2nd year not so much, however, on year 3 1st session in January, my current tutor gave me structure, with slideshows & video clips to explain in more depth and giving examples of the different topics, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 modules as I am a visual learner, the guidance given is great by Sarah Jones and she is a real fit for our group, I am looking forward to the rest of my final year with Chrysalis

Great experience!

I have had a great experience training with Chrysalis. The pluralistic content of the course has been very interesting and I believe has put me in good stead for my future as a counsellor. Most beneficial to my experience though is my tutor, Martina. Martina is incredibly knowledgeable, always puts us at ease, fills us with confidence and gives valuable feedback.

The course overall is ok

The course overall is ok, tutor is amazing and it's a great way of learning whilst also working as the classroom training is at a weekend. The disappointing factors are the support team, sometimes you don't get the right information / it can be inconsistent when you discuss other messages given to fellow students (leaves you feeling confused). The training module notes sometimes have outdated research stats which is disappointing. The support team rarely answer the phone so you have to leave messages. I sigh inside every time I realise I have to contact them.

I absolutely loved this course

I absolutely loved this course - love the content, love the structure, our tutor was amazing and I found it really fascinating. Only meeting once a month makes it very accessible to people who work full time too. There’s a great mix of theory learning and putting those theories into practice in class as well. However, I have to say it’s downfall was not being informed of a rather large piece of work until over midway through the course (Unit 6 coursework) - had this been communicated to us from the beginning it would have been fine, but not even the tutor knew we had to do this until we told her and it was rather a shock to be given 11-12 extra bits of homework when you’re trying to prepare for your case studies AND complete the practice hours on top of the journals and essays you also have to do. Another thing that I felt was quite misleading was the course advertising that it is 8hrs of study a week - it absolutely is not, especially towards the end of the course. I appreciate everybody learns at different rates but I ended up having to take annual leave from work twice to ensure I got my work/practice hours completed in time (obviously this was my choice but I felt it was necessary). I just think it should be advertised at 16hrs a week (which is still part time). Despite all that, I would absolutely recommend this course to others, (just pre-warn them about the hidden unit of work and prepare for the extra homework hours towards the end)! Would definitely do another course with chrysalis in the future too.

Thank you, Chrysalis

I have just completed my Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and am ready to set up in private practice. I have been delighted with Chrysalis' support and expertise. My tutor has been highly professional and I have learned as much from her personal experience as from the course materials. I have been able to work at a pace that suited me and would highly recommend this course.

Effective course

I am nearly finishing the first year of hypnotherapy study. The tutor is very experienced and knowledgeable. The course is fascinating, not only is helpful for developing our future career, but also teaches us scientific strategies in a logical manner to deal with stress, anxiety and many other negative emotions or behaviours, hence enhances the quality of human life. Definitely this is an effective course to learn counselling skills to heal ourselves and others. The Chrysalis Student Team offers constant prompt support for us throughout the study as well. I really enjoy studying this course.

Mixed review

I am reviewing the first Hypnotherapy year, of the 3-year Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Good: Excellent value for money. Number of, and accessibility of, venues nationwide. Interesting and well presented course content. Non-pompous, non-elite approach, accessible, real and down to earth. Not so good: Badly organised course delivery - hardly any work throughout the year, and then a huge surge of unmanageable coursework to complete with tight unreasonable deadline in the last 2-months. This course delivery needs structuring better throughout the whole year. Concerns with serious ethical issues, and when highlighted, the ability for Chrysalis to follow that through adequately.

Studies with Chrysalis - Final Year Student

Initially I did have concerns, due to the differing opinions and my first hand experience doing the Chrysalis Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. However I have enjoyed the learning content delivered and interactions. Although at times I found it "hard to grasp the nettle" so to speak, this was overcome by further reading, group work and tutor guidance. Equally I have learnt alot about myself ( i.e. self - growth and self - care) and that of others on this counselling journey. My direct experience with the North Student Support Advisor Gemma and her predecessors, has been good thus far. Gemma has taken to her role like a " duck to water" , despite the restructure of the student support service. She has been efficient, helpful and most important understanding of individual concerns. Having successfully passed year 2 and currently in year 3 on the course, I really like the 'flexibility' Chrysalis courses offers, which compliments and fits in well with my lifestyle.

Studying with Chrysalis changed my life

I studies with Chrysalis 9 years ago after completing a Bsc Hons in psychology and found the course a life changing experience. It was intensive and thorough. It covered a lot of theory and skills on the different methods of counselling leading to a qualification in an integrative approach. I believe that an integrative counselling qualification is the way forward in order to be able to help a variety of different clients or refer them on to a specialist in a particular method if required. Without a broad based theoretical understanding, this would be difficult. I completed my placement along side my course and since then have secured employment as a counsellor working in a variety of agencies along with some private client work. I am a member of the NCS and the BACP (Both regulated by the PROFESSIONAL STANDARD'S AUTHORITY. Most employers including the NHS ask that counsellors are members of a professional body regulated by the PSA). My experience with Chrysalis was truly life changing, not just from the knowledge I obtained to work with clients but the personal growth in understanding myself.

This course for me has been an…

This course for me has been an experinace. I have grown and learnt so much about myslef and other people. The girls at the call centre support have been amazing, they have helped me with every little issue and have really taken care of me. This course is more than just achieving a certificate, its about understanding yourself as a person, only until you've done that can you start helping others. Thank you again to Gemma for all your help!!!

From student to tutor.

Having studied psychology for 7 years I wanted to focus on the unique experience of the individual. Having searched for courses I decided to further my education with Chrysalis and found exactly what I was looking for. I fully committed to three years of study and was rewarded with enough knowledge and experience to begin my career as a counselling psychotherapist. The tutors were engaging and extremely knowledgeable. Coursework could be fitted around my job and family life. The course material was thought provoking and gave me opportunity to explore all aspects of integrative therapy further. I have been in private practice for over six years and have had the pleasure of becoming a tutor for Chrysalis. My students feel completely understood by a tutor who has sat in their place and understands all that adult education brings. I share my passion about working in meaningful ways with those who are struggling and the importance of becoming an ethical, non judgmental, empathetic therapist. Chrysalis is a highly professional institution that prizes high ethic and moral standards. I would recommend Chrysalis to anyone who is looking to begin their journey towards becoming a therapist with a sound academic organisation.
