Sandra our tutor for year 2 has been so supportive and helpful and brings passion and knowledge in abundance. She shares so much and her feedback is thorough and thoughtful and so helpful. She's been amazing and I'm excited to continue the second half of the year and progress onto year three. Thank you so much to the staff behind the scenes and placements team too for always being ready to answer queries and help where they can.
I have been with chrysalis for 2.5 yrs, my 1st year was enjoyable, with a great tutor, my 2nd year not so much, however, on year 3 1st session in January, my current tutor gave me structure, with slideshows & video clips to explain in more depth and giving examples of the different topics, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 modules as I am a visual learner, the guidance given is great by Sarah Jones and she is a real fit for our group, I am looking forward to the rest of my final year with Chrysalis
I have had a great experience training with Chrysalis. The pluralistic content of the course has been very interesting and I believe has put me in good stead for my future as a counsellor. Most beneficial to my experience though is my tutor, Martina. Martina is incredibly knowledgeable, always puts us at ease, fills us with confidence and gives valuable feedback.
An excellent accessible course providing opportunity for personal development and qualifications
The course offers flexible access and development towards qualifications. The fact that learning and lecture attendance can be accessed alongside a full time job and with the availability of flexible payment options ,this course offers a real opportunity for retraining and change. I found the tutors excellent and the content and course structure both challenging and rewarding.
I would recommend Chrysalis, but encourage you to research what you want from the course, ie professional recognition, as I have since discovered that the courses aren't accredited by some professional bodies
I personally found this company to be dishonest. I am still very confused about their name change part way through my studies. It looks like a new company but none of us students were told about it and when we asked we were told that nothing except the name had changed. So confusing!!!
To get the diploma I worked hard for I was expected to pay for another years membership to the societies of their choice which doubled in price after the one student year. These societies appear to offer nothing is return for the money and are very closely connected to chrysalis so there is little point in complaining to one about the other as it feels like you are talking to the same group of people,or at least this is my experience.
No real feedback on work is given and the classes parrot a book called 'hypnosis for change' . I found this course so unbelievable frustrating with no support, no feedback, and no real teaching of any kind. I have a masters degree in psychology which I gained through my own research, so I am used to solo studying, but this course seemed to expect me to have psychic abilities. The assignments need to mirror what you have learnt in class, but you don't get taught anything in class. You get a handout at the end which shows what you might have basically touched on at some random point... most of said handout is from the book, in a lot of cases word for word. Then you are expected to basically teach yourself enough around this area to be able to complete the assignment. So it feels a lot like a home study course (as in you do ALL the work at home) that you turn up to once a month so a tutor can make you feel like a complete moron for a few hours. Needless to say I gave up after year one and will not be using this company (or any of those that may or may not be connected to it) for any future academic en devours.
All in all I'd advise people to invest their time and money elsewhere. Additionally no where seems to accept the diplomas so unless you want to practice privately (I wanted to work in the NHS which does not recognize this 'qualification' neither does BCAP so finding employment with a company or getting on to a university/college course is impossible) you can't actually do a lot once you've completed the course.
