Melbourne booking with Europcar

Melbourne booking with Europcar. Good website, easy to select options. Easy to select excess cover included, and clear notes on this to stop the rental desk upseling. All went smoothly, would use again. Car was new, service good.

Europcar Nightmare

I booked a Vauxhall Insignia for a Sunday return only to be told at the time of pick up that the branch is closed on a Sunday and I had to have the car for an extra day with an additional day rate and it was too late to cancel. I had no option but to pay the extra money. Blackmail! The car I received had faulty wheel bearing which made a loud noise on the motorway. I rang the branch 20 minutes in to my drive to arrange for a replacement and was told to read call the roadside recovery company who will take me to the nearest branch. When I was dropped off at the branch in Manchester Airport I was told they didn't have any cars of that size and they offered me a Corsa which was not suitable. I immediately went on to Europcar website to book a car as a new customer which showed they had a car available. after showing this to the employee he gave me the keys to replacement vehicle. No idea why I was lied to in the first place. I will never book with Europcar ever again

Problems with service online

After making the reservation and paying the rental online it was impossible to find the registration using the link which was given, or log in to my customer account /rental information page with any of the given reservation numbers (carrentals, avis etc.), to print the voucher or make changes. I had to write e-mails. This is why I'll never use carrentals.co.uk again, even though things went well at the Avis office and the car was ok.

We have used car rentals twice

We have used car rentals twice. Their bit is fine, but their agents are a very different matter. We were dreadfully messed about in Lisbon by someone booked with Carentals. They ripped us off and we received only platitudes from you. Beware.

Spot on

Excellent service, easy to select the best rentals and I’ve not had any issues with actual rental companies. I’ve used it a few times now and tend to go down the high scoring worry free option. This is now the only car rental website search site I use. Thanks guys!

Could not fault the whole booking…

Could not fault the whole booking experience - everything went well. Only thing I would mention is that Full/Full is irrelevant with Hertz in South Africa as no matter how full the car is returned (we filled up 3kms from drop off) they say the tank is 7/8 full and charge a filling fee at whatever small amount of fuel is needed. Came to Β£9 so not too bad. Better to just drop off empty and let them go and fill it as that is what they are going to do anyway.
