I have had an outstanding complaint unresloved since November 2024

I have had an outstanding complaint since November 2024. In the 1 year 1 was issued with two very large bills over 1k each time (I live in a 1 bed apartment and work in the office for reference) so this just did not make sense to me. The issue is still on going, that bill was suppose to be frozen until the issue was resolved but as of last week I am now down 1k as the amount was taken from my bank. I have found it very difficult or at all possible to get updates on this situation from the complaint team. the Customer service operators have tired their best to help but as there is no direct contact to the complaint team this issue is just causing unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Great customer service and rates!

I am really happy with the level of customer service Bord Gais provides. Also, the Electricity and Gas rates are good!

Real scammers & extortionists

Real scammers & extortionists. They are creating bills out of nowhere. We will never be with them ever again! They don't review our emails and they keep our account opened.

They take your money like their own

I was charged for deposit even I set up direct debit with them, they kept taken few times and could not get back for months until I finally left. Second time in 10 years!

If it's Bordgaisenergy, you'll regret you switched whatever is the discount!

Do you want to be treated like dirt? Switch to them! They'll make sure you get as much hard time as possible. They'll take random amount of Direct Debits, they'll make mistakes when calculating your discount, giving 15% instead of the agreed 25%, they'll charge you twice for the same usage, if you do the switch again and leave them when the contract ended without cancelling the Direct Debit, they'll take the money as long as they can! To complain is a waste of time. They're not interested...

It is a long story.I had the worst experience ever

It is a long story.I signed up with them online as new customer and i received the confirmation email from them,but after 3 weeks i got a letter from Electric Ireland saying that i'm not registered with anyone and im at risk to be disconnected (gas and electricity),i ignored the letter because i knew that i registered with Bordgais and im safe.After another 3 weeks i received another letter from Electric Ireland saying the same thing.I rang Bordgais to ask them why i keep getting this letters saying that im not registered and i will be disconnected from the gas and electricity,and the customer service girl says that Electric Ireland rejected my application to switch to Bordgais,(but i wasn't informed by Bordgais about been rejected).I rang Electric Ireland to ask them the reason why i was rejected and they said that Bordgais didn't sent a switch application to them and if i don't sign up to any supplier today my gas and electricity will be disconnected in the next day or 2.I signed up with them because i was pressured by the time,then i rang back Bordgais to ask them why they lied to me that i was rejected because they never send a switch request and i asked to speak with one of the managers the 2 nd customer service girl says that she can not find any details that i signed up with them, (but the girl before said that i sigh up and i was rejected. After few minutes trying to convince the girl to transfer me to a manager (because the manager would not speak with me because i don't have an account number)(the account number that Bordgais never set up and i was not informed that they didn't set up the account).I the end after 2 hours on the phone i don't know even now what happened and why i ended up in this situation because the manager wouldn't speak with me because i don't have an account with them.

Dishonest company

Dishonest company that does not know how to serve the customer. Very expensive, in addition it makes undue charges on the account. I do not recommend.

Bord Gais are the worst Electricity and…

Bord Gais are the worst Electricity and gas supplier I have ever came across in my life. They told me in June that my gas account was set up, I then got a letter from them in November saying that the gas would be cut off as no one's name was on the account. I called them and asked them to please register me asap so my gas would not be cut off. They told me they had registered me and that there was no risk of the property being cut off.......... then today the gas was cut off!! They have told me it will be at least a week before they can get it turned back on. They have a lock on it that I cannot sign up with another gas company. I have a new born baby and I have to stay in my cold house for the next week with no heating. I would not recommend Bord Gais to anyone!!!!!!

stay clear from.them

stay clear from.them. take money every month and ended up owing then 950e plus the fact they took 150 e every m9nth for over a year never again go with these cowboys a complete rip off I am now with new provider and a lot cheaper they also tell you if your plan is not working unlike bord gais keep on tak8ng

Beware your reason for switching

Beware your reason for switching , cashback and 10% discount , may not be as it first appears , because : manual opt in is required to ''discounted'' price plan - not good ''for switching to'' cashback credit is not used to pay your current or next bill - not fair or sensible but level pay means you pay from day 1 bord gais energy take direct debit level pay amount even though you have credit accrued . tesco vouchers also accrue when you redeem them but do not go toward current or next bill . bge take level pay dd amount regardless of accrued tesco vouchers - not good

Smart Meter health risks

Got an almost threatening letter from Gas Networks (part of BGE semi state) saying the analogue meter had to be replaced with a smart meter. Having read up about these smart meters we decided we did not want one because of the health risks and also data harvesting; Also reliability and safety aspects. There is much to read on this online. Eventually got on to the energy regulator and they said to send in letter of complaint to bge and telling them smart meter is not wanted. Did this and never heard anything since, circa 1 year.

One big switch was offering new and…

One big switch was offering new and existing Bord Gais customers excellent rates on gas and electricity and few months ago. As an existing customer I signed up for this as it was a better rate than I was currently on with Bord Gais. What One Big siwtch didn't tell me was that Bord Gais were going to take me out of my existing discounted contract rate for a billing period (Billing period was nearly two months) and during this two months I was getting charged the standard rates. This cost me in excess of nearly €60 extra for that billing period. I got onto One big switch who said that I needed to contact Bord Gais about it. After a few phone calls back and forth with Bord Gais they figured out what had happenned explained. As explained above I was taken off my original discounted contract and put onto a standard contract until the current billing period was over. They then put me onto the new discounted contract. The problem with this is that I was paying full rates for two months until the billing cycle was over. This was never explained to me when I was in the process of switching and I don't remeber it being in any print. I got back onto Onebigswitch and they said they'd look into it for me but I never heard anything since. Life is too short to chase this up with them. I found both companies Onebigswitch and Bord Gaisd not great to deal with. In future, I won't use websites like onebigswitch and I'll just go directly to suppliers in question.
