USA Agencies NOT related to this UK agency

IMPORTANT FYI. Several independent agencies in the USA use the name Ahoy Cruises. The one in Dallas is excelent and in no way related to Ahoy Cruises UK. They (Ahoy Cruises UK) are (were) a large agency in the UK...not the USA. Other than randomly sharing the same name, any agency in the USA is in no way related to the UK company. Never were. Just used the same name popular with cruise agencies.

I too have been trying to resolve a compensation offered by Ahoy but never paid from a cruise from Dubai to South Africa on 2nd March. They offered to pay for 2 nights hotel accommodation we had to book as they could not get us home at the end of the cruise. We are also waiting for the 50% NCL refund for the cruise that was being sent to Ahoy as we had booked through them. I am trying to find out if this was ever paid to them by NCL but no reply as yet. I know there were others waiting for this refund through the same travel agent - no doubt this will never be paid now!

Thank you for those who have written of their recent experiences with this travel agent who has gone into liquidation. We are in the same boat after booking a cruise with Fred Olsen to South Africa which was supposed to sail in November 2020. We will start the process with ATOL and our credit card now, thanks to others' reviews, who have let us know what is happening with this company who never replied to our queries. Fingers crossed we won't be out of pocket for our deposit.

Ahoy liquidation refund claim

We have also been awaiting a promised full refund from Ahoy Cruises since our cruise package was cancelled on 16th March. We were told it would take up to 90 days for the refund to come through, and were requested to be patient. We were patient until the 90 days were up, but then emailed to find out what was happening. When I didn't get a response to my email and found the customer service number was not recognised we looked on the website and saw the notice of liquidation. This was last Friday (3rd July). We have had no notification from Ahoy or the liquidator to date. We paid Ahoy more than £11,000 for a package which included hotel stays, a month cruise, and flights. We were given an ATOL certificate which states 'If Pan Express Business Travel Limited stops trading, you must follow the instructions at w ww.atol.org.uk (where there will be details of repatriation arrangements, and information on how people can claim their money back) or you can call (+44) 333 103 6350.' I checked the website, but Ahoy was not listed under the companies that have gone bust which you can make an online claim for. So I rang the number provided and spoke to an adviser. I was told that Ahoy's liquidation is not completely official yet, and there is a legal meeting on July 10th after which it is likely to be confirmed, and we will be able to claim online. My understanding is ABTA covers only flights, but ATOL covers the whole package. I have also notified my credit card company which I paid the deposit with, that I am intending to make a Section 75 claim, as I understand from info on the ATOL website that you should do this first. Hope this helps somebody. I will update when I know more. Check the CAA page of latest ATOL Holders failures and Pan Express Business Travel ( parent company of Ahoy Cruises) is now listed. Further info will follow on how to claim a refund.

Ahoy Cruises have seemingly sunk

Ahoy Cruises have seemingly sunk with mine an many others money. The tune of £3000. They claim to be ABTA Members but their ABTA number and name is not recognised by the ABTA website. Have contacted the Receivers and they are being vague about knowledge of ABTA number or membership. Is anyone else pursuing a claim who might be able to help or offer any advice? Our cruise of a lifetime was cut…

Our cruise of a lifetime was cut short, due to COVID.We had to rely on Ahoy to arrange our passage home from South Africa. We were advised by them that the only option was for us to pay for a flight home and claim on our insurance. We had flights booked with BA but Ahoy said they couldn’t be changed and we had to rebook with Emirates for £1330,which we did.Whilst travelling back we received communication from BA to say our flights had been changed as requested by Ahoy.Since returning I explained all this to ahoy who flatly refused to admit any mistake on their behalf. They also refuse to refund any money. They told me to contact BA for a refund.BA tell me they can only refund the agent and not me.Again Ahoy deny this.I’ve emailed several times as under the Package travel regulations 2018 they are responsible for getting me home at no cost to me,they have now stopped replying to my emails.I am also waiting for the 50% refund from NCL which has gone to them and not to me,nothing from Ahoy concerning this. We didn’t stay in Cape Town,as booked,as we were not allowed to enter the country, again no refund for this either,Ahoy say it’s complimentery!! Also every time I spoke to someone I got a different story so someone is not telling the truth. Now in the hands of ABTA.Avoid this company at all costs.

I had a cruise booked in April through…

I had a cruise booked in April through ahoy cruises on msc orchestra. The cruise was for 30 nights South Africa back to Venice. This got cancelled in late March by msc. I have tried on so many occasions to call ahoy and in the beginning I could get hold of them. We are now on the 16th June and I cannot for love nor money get through to talk to anyone at ahoy. The machine says to call back between the times of 9 and 6 honestly this message is played at anytime of day and believe me I have constantly tried getting through. If you try the booking line to book a new cruise still can’t get through it says leave a message and we will get back to you. Do you have any idea how many times I’ve left the message for them to call me back. So I call msc direct and they say that ahoy has to write to them to request the refund. Now in the beginning I was told this by msc so I called ahoy in the beginning and they said they had sent the request. I am still nowhere nearer to finding out about my refund what a disgrace it’s over 5200

Be aware check out how they are booking your holiday.

We have recently returned from a cruise on the Majestic Princess. Unfortunately our cruise was terminated due to increasing uncertainty in Asia, we were due to end our cruise in Singapore. Ahoy dealt with this efficiently booked flights and offered alternative hotel stays in Perth Princess cruises offered a 50% discount on a future cruise. I have since discovered that our cruise was booked through Princess in America in US dollars by a partner company. This has resulted in our booking appearing on a US database. I have spoken to Princess in The UK and US and at the moment have been told that the only way we can access our credit is by booking with Princess is the US but cannot book a flights package. I have asked Ahoy several times about this but the just bat it back, advising that we contact Princess Customer services, there is no admission that Ahoy are aware of this. The must be aware that this is the case. Especially in this currently climate check this out before using this company.

Booking procedure has been a nightmare

Booking procedure has been a nightmare! Conflicting information from personnel, lack of communication and I even received someone else's receipts. My cruise starts in March so I can only hope my experience improves. I have cruised several times before, but never previously booked with this company. And this will be the last time I do so.

Incompetent and disorganised customer service

We reminded them we hadn’t paid the balance for the cruise. Apparently it was due 3 weeks earlier but nobody asked for that. So we immediately did a bank transfer and emailed them with details. Five days later they threatened us to cancel our booking because of the missing payment. They didn’t read my email and didn’t check their accounts properly. They caused distress and panic since we thought it was a scam and we had lost our money.. No apologies for that!
